  1. Haha! That happened to me once. I shaved off my beard and met friends for drinks. Sat down next to them at a bar. They gave me the "Hey" nod and turned away. Freaked out when they heard my voice. Not sure how long you had your beard but wondering if you experienced skin peeling for a short time after the initial shave?
  2. A friend of mine and I were jumped in Chicago. My friend was shocked to learn that I not only knew how to fight, but that I was a ruthless, and dirty, fighter. As we ran off (we didn't want to deal with the police) he said he thought I'd broken one of the assailant's ribs. My response was, "In a street fight you don't stop until they can't get up."
  3. Walked into an audition and saw him warming up. Imagine the statue of David come to life. Chocolate brown eyes, shining curls of thick brown hair, lithe muscled and 6' tall. I was knocked out. The only difference is that, unlike the statue, he was very well hung.
  4. Not exactly. Just moist stuffing "baked" in the waffle iron. Crisp on the outside, moist and light on the inside. No waffle batter needed.
  5. For those who don't enjoy the sweet and savory combo, try making the waffles with stuffing and serve it with cream gravy. It's an interesting take on the classic.
  6. This side dish, a favorite of so many, was a childhood horror of mine. I still can't choke it down.
  7. I watched it with fascinated horror. It was disturbing to realize that progressive minds of the day, like Sanger and Kellog, embraced aspects the movement to further their own ideas. Kind of like the current cabal in DC.
  8. Sadly, I didn't get to see him.

  10. For me, the real question is: was it cut or uncut?

    Beards

    I've had a beard since the early 90's. Am I a trendsetter?
  12. My car was broken into twice. Once while working once at my apartment. All the cars in the apartment lot were hit. Mine was the only one that hadn't had the stereo stolen. The police asked me if I had any idea why my stereo hadn't been taken. I explained that it was a 9 year old, factory installed, base model 8 track. Haha
  13. So, I'm in the Detroit area and we had leather expo here this weekend .One of the featured guests was (is) CutlerX. So, I sent him an email in advance asking about an appointment .He was pleasant but put me off saying, "Call me the weekend of the event.". So I did. I called a number of times and got the phone service message that his box was full. I emailed and called several times over the weekend to no avail. I confess that I'm pissed. I expected more from a professional. Another provider I had contacted, Timarrie Baker, was far more communicative and responsive. Basically, not happy with Cutler's professionalism . Am I too sensitive?

  15. Thanks for the feedback .
  16. Thanks but interested in his escorting skills rather than massage.
  17. https://rent.men/Jaymdiesel Any info? In my town for 2 days starting tomorrow so kind of quick turnaround needed. Thanks
  18. Spoilage can be a big issue when cooking for one. If you don't have salt restrictions you might consider quick pickling some of your excess produce. This simple technique can extend the life of many variables by 2 or more weeks. No special equipment needed. Just save some jars. Some of my favorites include summer squash, green beans, cauliflower, red onions and peppers. Check it out on line if you like. Cheers
  19. @Avalon Very true. Sadly, while I may qualify as a dowager empress (I'm a bit past the queen stage) I've not yet risen to the level of having vassels to do my dirty work.
  20. @Epigonos, no offense taken. We all have trigger words. And, honestly, at this time of year I do experience a bit of new parent pride when I see the harvest. So, while not exactly cute, the piles of onions, potatoes, jars of tomatoes and pickled veg, etc are as beautiful to me as a newborn.
  21. @Avalon, much of the time spent hunting is hunched in a blind (think small shack or lean to) in predawn damp awaiting sunrise. Then waiting, hoping game will wander by. Haha
  22. Perhaps this will help overcome the cute image. Imagine grubbing in a half acre of field rows in 90+ degree weather day after day. It isn't cute by any means. What a person looks like after 5-6 hours of doing so isn't cute. So, I'll continue to use the term veggies as it has no cute connotations for me.
  23. Nice! This season we've put up over 90 quarts of tomato product (whole, sauce & juice). Today I'll be packing and freezing sliced sweet peppers. Never tried artichokes. While I like them I don't feel like they produce enough food for the space they need. Maybe I'm wrong?
  24. So, I'm part of a very small, private, farm collective. Basically, labor for food. This year we've had great results with everything except corn. Racoons and possums attacked the stalks. Anyway, I've been feasting on fresh veggies and wondered what fresh veggies you love?
  25. 65 cents could be interest earned. Yes, the IRS pays interest in certain cases .
