I have been feeling grumpy and somewhat depressed lately simply about being old and a caregiver for an elderly spouse--your situation puts that in perspective for me, so thanks for that. At least you are not dealing with your own medical problems as well, but you will be if you don't step back and accept that you can't feel responsible for solving everyone else's problems. I know that's not as easy as it sounds, especially for someone who wants to feel, as you say, "someone who is in control of life." No one truly is. I don't know about you, but the best way for me to relieve tension caused by exterior problems is to do something that is completely unrelated to them, and that gives me physical or aesthetic pleasure. For me that is playing tennis two mornings a week, during which I cannot think at all about my other problems. Find something you enjoy that you can do regularly, so that you know you can always look forward to it, but will not prey on your mind if you have to miss it, even if it's just sitting for a half hour watching the sunset. Just don't make it another responsibility that you have to do.

Although a member of the Next Gen 3 has made the finals in five of the last six slams, only Medvedev has actually won one of them. If Novak gets the jab, I wouldn't be surprised if he or Rafa ends up holding the trophy at Roland Garros.

Despite the messy start, the AO had a great finish. What more could fans ask for than the first Australian to win a singles title there in 44 years, 2 unseeded Australian men's teams to make the doubles final, and Rafa to make a brilliant run to the final and win a 5+ hours match to become the first man in tennis history to win 21 majors? The folks at Tennis Australia are probably breathing a sigh of relief.

For the record, I do not claim to be the real person in my avatar, though there is some resemblance between us.

Let's just say that lots of people seemed to be watching us, but I don't know which one of us they were admiring 😁

Monte Vista and Indian Canyon is close enough to the mountain to be out of the heaviest wind pattern, which is farther north and east, but it can still be pretty breezy.

I danced with Nureyev once, though not exactly "on stage": it was at a disco in London. He seemed to be alone there, too. Others obviously recognized him, but I think they were nervous about approaching him, whereas I had already started dancing with him before I realized who it was. He just smiled after we stopped, but he didn't speak.

Ride me, cowboy! (Oops, that was a typo--it should have been 'em)

My best friend loved animals, and never passed up a visit to a zoo, but unfortunately he was allergic to cats and dogs, so he settled for hamsters as pets.

I am not a fan of the Olympics concept, so I rarely watch.

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oy! Oy! Oy! Barty into the final, and an all-Aussie men's doubles final. It feels like we're back in the 1960s.

I watched a lot of the doubles match, and the American commentators described the Aussies in the stands as behaving as though they thought they were at a soccer match. The umpire pretty much gave up on trying to control them, and their booing when Puetz and Venus were serving was really bad form. I don't blame Venus for letting loose on Kyrios, who was smirking throughout the match. I was shocked to see Dokic--she was always a mere slip of a lass, and now she looks enormous. It was sad to see Cornet and Pegula work so hard to get to the quarters, and then be thoroughly destroyed there. I have always been a fan of Kanepi, and was sorry to see her lose such a close match to Swiatek.

The "government" wasn't laughing; they were actually trying pretty hard to figure out what was going on and how to deal with it. Fauci's work on AIDS research at the NIH in the 80s was what made him a public figure, and a lightning rod for criticism at the time, while Reagan refused to say anything about AIDS because he was afraid of being connected to it politically.

PSA: please do not get sick, injured, or have any other medical emergencies
+ Charlie replied to NJF's topic in Men's Health
I'm one of those old men who don't do Zoom, but our doctors are willing to do visits on FaceTime, and I have found them acceptable for most routine visits. Our GP is very big on preventive care, so we have lots of routine appointments with him and with specialists he refers us to. Of course, that is only realistic when you have MediCare and good supplemental insurance, and can afford to be part of a concierge practice; we pay about $15K/year out of pocket for our medical care, so it's not a practical model for the whole healthcare system. Last week I twisted my ankle badly; normally I would have gone straight to the ER, but instead I sucked it up and treated myself. I would have to be very seriously ill to go to an ER right now. I did go an urgent care recently for a cactus thorn in my hand which I couldn't manage to remove myself, and I waited three hours for a treatment that took five minutes. Urgent care is a great concept, but if they can't treat it themselves, they usually send you to an ER anyway. -
Shapo is multi-national. His father is Russian, his mother Ukrainian, he was born in israel, and he lived in Canada from the time he was one year old. Although he is a Canadian citizen, he now lives in the Bahamas.

I saw that commercial. I was dumbfounded when my spouse came home with the Mac a few weeks later; I thought it was just an overpriced and complicated device to play games. Of course, there was no Internet then. When he got tired of trying to play with it, I took it to my office and used it as a typewriter/printer for years.

Zverev is "Russian" mainly because his parents are, but Shapovalov could be considered Russian also, for the same reason.
-
I saw only a small part of the match (it was shown live mostly on ESPN+, which I don't have), but in what I saw, Zverev appeared somewhat disengaged.

The text is somewhat different on the two ads, so they might actually be two different escorts using the same adorable photos (but which one, or neither, do they belong to?).

Re: email sent to members. I suspect the large number never opened may have ended up in spam folders, where they were never seen. I often don't open or click on one that says I got a private message, because I know I will look at the message when I log on to the site later.

I don't even know what TikTok is.🙄

One can't tell from these photos, but the car had a rumble seat. I saw a photo once of my mother sitting in it.

My father had that same car. I'm surprised Weissmuller didn't have something more expensive.
