The pup is cute, but I don't think they really need him to attract attention. -

In regard to the anecdote I mentioned earlier about the Italian-American brothers from CT, whom I met about 40 years ago: I had seen the original ad for the brother duo, with no photo, in a magazine (this was long before Internet advertising existed). I hired the older brother in NYC, and in conversation I learned that he was one of the duo; he told me about recruiting his straight younger brother to work with him as a pair when they lived in New Haven. After "Mario" (really Michael, the gay older brother) decided to move to NYC, he worked alone, and his brother stayed in CT but occasionally also worked alone there. After a short time in NYC, Mario moved on to CA, where he ended up in prison (I learned this from a mutual acquaintance who had been infatuated with Mario). One day I hired a guy from a new ad in NYC, and when I went to his apartment, I realized just by looking at him that he had to be the straight younger brother, because the physical resemblance was so striking. After we had finished our business--and it was obviously strictly business for him--I told him that I believed I had once hired his brother, and he immediately admitted the relationship. He said that when Michael had recruited him, he was interested in making money, so he had agreed to the deal. He had no problem having sex with a client, or watching Michael have sex with a client. But he said that most clients also expected the brothers to have sexual interaction with one another, and that made him psychologically very uncomfortable, which was why as soon as he learned the job, he preferred to be a solo provider. He only did it when he needed the extra money, and his ad didn't stay active for very long.

Brothers do sometimes work together. I remember a pair of Italian brothers from Connecticut. The older one was gay and the younger one was straight; the older one recruited the younger to work as a pair, and taught him what to do. The younger one wasn't really into it, but he was willing to do it occasionally. They stopped working together when the older one moved to NYC, and he continued working alone. But sometimes the younger one would also work alone when he needed the money. I hired each of them individually, and had an interesting conversation with the younger one about his brother, who by then was in prison.

According to one article I read, the diocese was already dealing with another scandal in which a 40 year old priest killed a 26 year old deacon with whom he had some kind of relationship, and then committed suicide. The story made national news because the bishop was forced to resign.

Has anyone taken the Queen Mary 2 from Southampton to New York?
+ Charlie replied to + BobPS's topic in The Travel Desk
My spouse sailed the original Queen Mary from Southampton to New York in 1965, because it was cheaper than flying in those days. -
I wonder how many consumers are aware that the Sudafed they pull off the drugs shelf at the supermarket does not contain the same ingredient as the Sudafed they can get from the pharmacist at the same store, although the packaging looks very similar? And how many of them are aware that the ingredient in the pills on the shelf has been shown by tests to be much less effective than the one in the pharmacy? I wouldn't have wasted money on the former product while doing my grocery shopping last week if I had known they were different.

Sic transit gloria mundi. (I always thought Gloria Mundi would be a great name for a drag queen.)

Suzanne Somers dies the day before her 77th birthday
+ Charlie replied to Ali Gator's topic in Comedy & Tragedy
I read obituaries every day, and you would be surprised how many people die on or close to their birthdays. (All four of my grandparents died shortly before or after their birthdays.) -
I used to enjoy going to the bars there in the '60s.

I had no way to know of your physical incapacity. However, it would still be cheaper to use an Uber. than to maintain a car.

Considering how much you have probably spent on insurance and registration (and perhaps on a parking spot) during the last decade just to drive 1200 miles/year (i.e., only 100 miles/month), it probably would have been cheaper--and healthier--to buy a bike.

My partner and I stayed in Ogunquit about a quarter century ago, because we had heard talk about it being a gay resort. We couldn't find any action at all, and left after two days.

Are you "gay"? Are you "queer"? What the hell are you?!
+ Charlie replied to + Charlie's topic in The Lounge
That story reminds me of one my old friend Harold told me. After his wife discovered that he had hired a provider, whom he found from this site, they decided to separate after more than 40 years of marriage. She called each of their three adult children and told them they had to come back home for a weekend for a serious family conference to explain why their parents were separating. His daughter, who lived hundreds of miles away, responded to her mother, "I'm not going all the way back there if all you're planning to do is tell us that Daddy is gay. We figured that out a while ago."
