Thanks for your reply, aeikaryoko. I wish Max's fans had included this crucial information in their posts about him. Many of us like to pin a new masseur down in advance about the specifics of the massage, but many of us don't, feeling uncomfortable asking explicitly for sexual elements on a text with someone we've never met before, wanting instead to trust what the ad (and our chums on this site) indicates we should expect from the massage. As I've written, I'm glad others have had a good experience with Max, but this forum--a godsend to me!--should be a place where we support each other, and that includes recommending good masseurs but also flagging things that might lead our brothers into unsatisfying situations. I wish someone had said, "With Max, you have to ask for nudity, MT, and HE in advance, and there is an upcharge." Max is currently listing his rentmasseur (the site I contacted him through) rate at $200. That amount, as well as his almost naked photos, coveys a clear message that the massage will be more than strictly therapeutic. I've had far better masseurs than him for half that rate. If Max is offering different rates for the listed choices, he should indicate so on his ad; otherwise it's false advertising. If he's not comfortable doing this, his reply to the initial outreach should be "What type of massage are you looking for?" and then say what the price would be. I'm sure he operates the way he does because he might lose customers when they found out about the upcharge. I was dumfounded as we passed the hour mark of my 90 minute massage and he was still in short pants, shoes and socks, hadn't done anything sensual or erotic, and kept his body as out of reach as possible. Many sensual/erotic masseurs gradually disrobe through the massage and backload (no pun intended) the erotic elements, so I was patient. At that point, it was too uncomfortable--particularly with an off-putting personality like Max's--to say, "Will you take your pants off?," "Will you touch my ass?," or "May I touch you?" It was a bad experience, but it could have been avoided by Max having been more honest or direct.

I appreciate this confirmation, although, to be a broken record, I don't think one should have to ask. He advertises sensual/erotic and charges an erotic rate. Can I ask if there is an upcharge? Thanks

That makes sense. I haven't caught many advertising in this way. When I see an appealing masseurfinder ad, I cross-check rentmasseur (since I like erotic massage). I stopped my "research" on Miguel, when I didn't see the latter. I was hoping the $150 rate meant (as it should) that the massage would be erotic. Conversely, when I see an appealing ad on rentmasseur (advertising erotic), I cross-check rentmen, since I'm not looking for an escort experience (not that those wouldn't be fun!). Live and learn!

Yeah, given his advertisement on Rentmen, which includes kissing, anal, oral, etc., I expected more. I wrote to him through masseurfinder, however, so I'm not sure he knew I was open to more than a massage. I didn't want escort service. For me, he was missing the sweet spot of advertising, which is rentmasseur, I'm not sure why. The massage was very sensual, however, with lots of MT, so I'm hopeful for next time. He's worth another try.

ONB, the OP says, "I felt that he was planning on going in." It's not clear what that means, but the masseur appears to have respected the poster's declination. As I wrote, the masseurs comment about PREP would have turned me off, but I don't see it as coercion in any way. It's badly worded advice, but for a (presumably) young sex worker in a world in which barebacking is normalized, it's good advice.

"Emotional blackmail" seems a little strong. Indeed, much of the criticism of the provider does. A good interpersonal connection is important, so the comment, as described, would probably have meant no return visit for me, but--given the pervasiveness of barebacking--I'm glad to hear that, for some of these guys, being on PREP is become an expectation. Yeah, one of my commitments to m4m the massage process is to treat it like the legitimate profession it is but isn't always regarded so. The appointment itself should suffice. I've confirmed with a few guys that I worried about, but even then I felt like I was condoning flaky behavior.

I agree with the principle, but I'm a lot more frustrated by ads for erotic that only end up being therapeutic. That's what a legit spa is for!

Dutchal, I appreciate your responding to me. Part of me wants to hear the details of your session, but I'm afraid it will also rub it in what he didn't do for me. I believe that Harry and you--and I'm sure others--had a good experience with Max. I really only wrote because Harry's participation in discussions of Max verge on advocacy. I don't think that's what we're here for. I'm glad that when I say something glowing about a masseur, people weigh in with differing opinions. The last thing I want to do is tip someone into choosing a masseur based on what might be my anomalously positive experience with him. I do feel, however, that masseurs who advertise erotic massage, post nude/almost nude photos, and charge "erotic rates" shouldn't require clients to ask for erotic elements.
