The settings on Rentmasseur aren’t very flexible. You can only post one in call rate and one outcall rate. I have different rates depending on how long someone wants (an hour, 90 minutes, 2 hours etc) and you can’t show those. Some masseurs may have different rates also for the style of massage. This may mean it’s easier to put “ask me” in the box.
But in general I agree that often it’s because they’re pricing on the ability to pay or they’re using the ‘low cost airline’ pricing model where everything is an extra incurring an extra charge. If you start taking to a provider and he wants extra to massage naked, extra to touch x or y and extra for some ‘activities’ then it’s probably not going to be a relaxing massage.
 
I’m on Rentmasseur and I just publish my rate for an hour on there. It’s all inclusive for sensual massage which in my service includes sexual activity including penetration if they want that. The only time I’d make an extra charge is if they want me to travel a long way (time is money) or they want unusual or very bespoke services like a couples massage or 4 hands etc.

I’ve seen him, twice. All aspects of the first experience were average, but good enough to see him a second time. His photos are real and current. Just be you, man. And don't be afraid to be clear about what you want. It's way better for us to know your likes and dislikes so we can make sure the experience is what you want. The service sector shifts all the time. It's very fluid. Unless there's a financial crash, it's difficult to point a finger at spending shifts. I'd be more inclined to study a mature man's ability to get horny in the era of couch potato.
 
Given the stock market, the unemployment rate, and the job numbers, disposable income should not be considered the problem. Customers have money and are definitely spending it. It should be noted that some high-end retailers are struggling in this volatile but thriving market.
 
Rentmen is not my favorite user experience, but IMO it seems to run better than Rentboy. At least their PM system seems to work better. Free advertising should never be completely dismissed. After all, it's a free chance for the fickle market to see more of you. Just be sure to use unique photos for every ad space. Repeated visual information is boring and does not motivate a sale.

I'm with you on your opinion of social media, but I'm not sure that market's age is worth your time. Before Tumblr shut down their XXX, I would have said create an account there and show personal photos and videos that don't appear anywhere else. Their viewership was huge, with a very broad age range. They serviced a strong daddy-loving market. Finding places to engage where other like-minded customers hang is key.

PayPal allows them to reverse payments, and is a horrible operation for myriad reasons. Avoid.
 
Venmo (despite being owned by PayPal) and CashApp do not allow transactions to be reversed, but may bar you if they find you're using the app for commercial purposes (not necessarily anti-escorting, just anti anything commercial). But that's rare, and not using an app for fear that you won't be allowed to use it makes no sense, so go for it.
 
I keep an empty checking account that I transfer funds from these apps into, and then from there into my real account. The terms of service say they have the right to go into your checking account and yank funds back, so the intermediary step protects me from that.
 
When a new client asks to use an app, I say fine, but we process that transaction before the session starts. More than once in the past someone was shocked, shocked! to find that his app wasn't working after the session was over.
