I am not making any comment on the escort's intelligence and even acknowledge that it's likely because he is a non-native speaker. I have hired many escorts with grammatical errors in their ads. It's no big deal to me. I am just a former journalist and copy editor so I notice errors, even while making them in my own writing. I have actually copy-edited a few ads of a couple of my regulars and they appreciated it. I do think that having several noticeable errors in an ad could be a bit of red flag for some people who are hiring, especially when you are advertising your conversation skills. You might wonder if the escort will be able to speak well in English, although of course often many people can speak a language better than they can write it.

What's your definition of a "millennial"?
+ keroscenefire replied to MrMattBig's topic in The Lounge
They have a new thing called X-ennials, which are basically people who saw the transition to the digital age. I definitely lump myself in this. My family was more working class so we had an old black-and-white MacBook classic that barely connected to the Internet and didn't have a cell phones at all although some wealthier friends had them. We didn't get a CD player until I was in high school and never had cable television. But by the time I got to college, I had a iMac and fast Internet and AIM, Livejournal and MySpace accounts. I'm the same age as Mark Zuckerburg and actually was visiting a friend who went to Harvard over Thanksgiving and read in the Crimson about how these Winklevoss twins were pissed of that Mark took their idea for a company. I didn't actually get a Facebook account until the next spring. But for people born a few years later, social media was a huge thing even during high school and everyone had cell phones connected to the Internet. That's the big difference between Millenials and Generation X/Y/Xennials. -
Should I tell my coworker I have a crush on him?
+ keroscenefire replied to Sammmmm's topic in The Lounge
I think the latter tactic is going to be more successful. Don't specifically ask for a date, but you could ask him some recommendations for bars or restaurants. Maybe Google a gay bar and ask if he likes that one in particular to let him know you're gay. Suggest doing a happy hour with other co-workers at a nearby bar. If there is chemistry, then you can act on it. In most cases, there are no specific rules about dating a co-worker unless one person is a subordinate to the other and then there could be questions of sexual harassment and favoritism involved. But do realize that if it doesn't work out it can be awkward in the workplace. And you might want to ask HR about the specific policies if you're concerned. You should just start with trying to see if he wants to be friends...definitely in the vein of you're new to the city and would like to check out the scene a little bit. He may not want to pursue anything with a co-worker either but if that's the case you may still have a new friend who might have some hot friends that he can introduce you to. -
Recession is a pretty specific economic term. It means a decline in GDP for two or more consecutive quarters. An economic depression is generally defined as an economic downturn (decline in GDP) for two years or more and/or a decline in GDP greater than 10 percent. The recession in 2007-2009 was the worst economic decline since the Great Depression but because it lasted slightly less than 2 years December 2007 to June 2009 and the GDP only dropped 4.6 percent in that time, it was considered a recession. (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/recession.asp) I think generally you are right though..there are winners and losers to boom times and bust times. The gas thing is a great example. For many of us, low gas prices are great because it helps keep prices down generally because it lowers transportation costs across the board. But definitely it hurts energy companies and areas with a lot of oil production. And a recession could be great for those with stable jobs not affected by the recession because it could mean lower housing costs and maybe the opportunity to buy property when it is more affordable. Basically all my friends who own houses in Denver only have them because they were able to buy during the last recession. Very few would be able to afford a home in Denver today with their middle-class salaries.

What are the better Rentmen profiles and why?
+ keroscenefire replied to stop's topic in Questions About Hiring
I actually really appreciate the guys that post their sites and then have good information on them. So thank you Eric for doing that. Wish more would do the same. -
I did a university Ph.D grad program with most of the fellow students being from Korea or Taiwan. They definitely did not have perfect English but the expectation was all of their writing to be done in very good English. I often helped do a round of copy edits for my classmates but they often also had their work looked at by others as well. Obviously a very different circumstance, but I would say that this young man could benefit from someone looking at his copy. He has enough mistakes that it's noticeable that he is not a native English writer. Since he is advertising as an "Ivy-league" escort, there are probably many clients that would expect someone more fluent in English than he likely is.

Please don't...but I'd gladly point to some dispensaries here in Colorado where you can get it. I'm talking about marijuana concentrates, distillates and other products that have pretty high THC levels. I don't partake too often but once did one of these products and it was honestly too intense for me. I don't know if it's PNP really since all I wanted to do was go to sleep.

There are some very strong types of cannabis that can really mess you up, but typical marijuana I would say no.

What are the better Rentmen profiles and why?
+ keroscenefire replied to stop's topic in Questions About Hiring
Here is one I kinda like: https://rent.men/OttoKnownBedder Good variety of pictures, shows his personality and better yet shows why he is a bit different than some of the rest. The rhyming may be a bit silly but it also shows that he doesn't take himself so seriously and probably would be fun to hang out with, -
I'm hoping because I work in education that I will still have a stable job during the recession. Usually it takes a couple years before the lack of property taxes coming in really hurts education funding. If it's a short recession, I don't expect too much of a problem, especially since I live in a city that still has a lot of people moving here. So if anything I might enjoy the hobby more, especially if rates go down on some of the escorts. If it's $300, I can really only see one escort a month, but if it goes down to $200, I could probably see two escorts a month instead.

What's the craziest request you've had from an escort?
+ keroscenefire replied to Constantine's topic in The Lounge
An escort in Denver likes to smoke a cigarette from between your toes. No big deal for me, but definitely an interesting request. -
I think you are correct since he lists Chinese as his other spoken language. And there are many great escorts that are also non-English speakers. However, if you are advertising that you are "Ivy-league educated" and someone who is great at having conversation, you probably want an advertisement that makes it sound like you could have one in English. One of my favorite escorts is Brazilian and his ad had several grammatical issues, but he didn't advertise in a way that made his grammar stand out. This escort trying to go for an educated, higher-end clientele might have problems attracting them with his copy.
-
Yeah his grammar is atrocious. "Perfect for higher end occasions, always presentable." Where exactly is the subject and verb in that sentence? And he hyphenates well-traveled, well-educated and well-dressed even though they are not being used as compound adjectives and doesn't hyphenate Ivy League or higher end when they are.
-
It depends. If I am going to have more of a BFE with a dinner and conversation than it's definitely good to have an escort who is at least experienced in the world and has something to talk about. I once tried to take out this young man who has pretty much just been an escort and really could only talk about being an escort. It was just about where clients took him, how nice the hotels were, the gifts he got from them. He said he had a client take him to the Cannes Film Festival, but apparently didn't see any movies. He just went to the beach and hanged out at the hotel because he doesn't really like film. So yeah...it helps to have something more going on than just a pretty face if you're planning on a longer session. If it's just an hour of sex, then that's a different story.
-
If you book an overnight or a longer session, you could maybe assure you're the only client for the day. Although even then we shouldn't assume. The guy I booked an overnight with in London had two clients earlier that day.
-
I do actually date and hook up somewhat often. But I actually also really value the client/escort relationships I have developed. I wouldn't consider any of them quite a friendship, but the intimacy I get especially with my regulars is hard to receive even in an established romantic relationship. Plus many of the escorts are really interesting, smart people. I've gotten everything from great podcast recommendations to travel tips to lively political debates with escorts who in many cases are more well-traveled than I and yet often share similar interests. I've kind of wondered if maybe my hiring escorts is getting in the way of pursuing a more long-term romantic partnership. There is probably some truth to that because with some of my regulars, I really do get many of the best benefits of a romance with the no-strings attached.

Late night appointments. Okay? Not okay? Why?
+ keroscenefire replied to Aaron_Bauder's topic in Questions About Hiring
The guy who I visited in Las Vegas basically started at midnight. My appointment with him was at 7, which he thought was so early that he let me kinda hang out for a few hours after our appointment while he was getting ready. He took a few phone calls and finally left for his first "real appointment" at just before midnight. I texted him the next morning just our of curiosity and he said he met with five clients that night and made like $6,000 on a slot machine. Busy night. -
I noticed this too when I was recently in England. My only hypothesis is that maybe Englishmen get better social services than immigrants so the immigrants make up the difference by charging more (and there is enough of an exoticness that they get clients who will pay). Also maybe the English are used to the pound being much stronger than it is currently. 150 pounds is about $180 now, but as recently as 2-3 years ago is was more like $200 or even $225. Same though to a lesser extent with the Euro. Perhaps the more recent arrivals know more about exchange rates and charge according to what they would be paid in the US or Europe. Ah, Brexit!
-
I did do a bartering situation for an escort once for a free session. Didn't pay in cash but got him some special Colorado goodies. It was his idea to exchange a session for such a thing. We've developed a pretty good friendship overall and he definitely gives me extra time during all our sessions. I always give him an extra bit of tip as well and I pay for things like dinners and theater shows so it kind of works out in the end.

His look is interesting..kind of an 80s yuppie dork thing going on..someone who summers in Cape Cod or something .

I would say as long as you are not having any major side effects and you're not seeing any liver or kidney damage, stick with Truvada. For one, Gilead is a kind of terrible company, charging insane amounts for a drug use that they did not develop. Their whole thing with Descovy is to keep the gigantic PReP profits once Truvada goes generic by getting everyone to use the "safer" drug. The one meta-study I found about Tenofovir (the component of Truvada that may damage the liver) showed a significant but very small percentage (less than 1 percent) of those taking the medicine got liver damage with the vast majority of them being coinfected with hepatitis. See: https://www.catie.ca/en/catienews/2016-02-10/does-tenofovir-cause-liver-injury/ Slight kidney impairment may also occur but was also very moderate and mostly effected those who already had kidney impairment of some kind (see: https://www.sfaf.org/collections/beta/new-research-at-croi-2016-how-prep-changes-kidney-function/) This is why those of us taking Truvada are monitored for kidney and liver function. If there are any issues, then yeah, Discovey may be better. But if not, just keep taking Truvada and start using the much cheaper generic version as soon as possible so we can stop giving too much of our money to Gilead's shareholders.

Question to financial anaylst/economist members:
+ keroscenefire replied to + sync's topic in The Lounge
I think volatility of the stock market is actually a pretty rational response to Trump's irrational economic plans. His random tariffs simultaneously help some companies while hurting others so they become kind of a wash. His corporate tax cuts were great overall, but the profit effect of them is now wearing off for many companies. International events also are sometimes good and sometimes bad for different companies (Brexit, China's currency manipulation, Iran oil disruptions) and Trump's response is so random, company's have a hard time catching up. Same to be said for the Federal Reserve...which is having to lower interest rates at time of very low unemployment. That is quite unusual and sends very mixed messages to the stock market (low rates are good but does this mean we're about to have a recession?). The fact that the yield curve has inverted is also a bit scary but also hard to assess short-term. It's not a conspiracy..it's the market trying to figure out how the fuck to respond to a irrational president who doesn't really know what he is doing along with international events that one can barely make heads or tails of. -
I did do a small deposit for a well-reviewed escort in London on a recent trip. I wanted to do an overnight and completely understood from his perspective that committing that much time to some random American messaging you is also a bit of an off proposition. His rate overall was quite good and I really had no problem paying a small deposit. And in the end it worked out quite well..got to have a great night in his nice apartment with a balcony overlooking the Thames, a sauna and pool in the building and company. Sure it was a risk, but if it for some reason didn't work, I would've only been out I think something like $75. But mostly I will not likely make deposits unless it's a situation like that where I'm asking for a lot of time for a particularly well-reviewed escort that I feel would follow-through on his end.

I would suggest meeting in person in public first. If he is staying at a hotel then the hotel bar is perfect. Or if you're planning on hosting, a nearby bar or coffeeshop works great. Communication is key. Say that you're a nervous first timer and appreciate his patience with meeting in person first. If he is being too hesitant or a jerk about it, that is a big red flag. Of course do remember that you are giving him a donation for his time only, so do expect that the public visit is part of the time that you're spending with him and expect to compensate him for it. In many cases, you can quite quickly suss out his character in person and most likely will be quickly ready to take it to the next level. If you do feel weird about how he's acting or if he maybe looks quite a bit different than his pictures, you can maybe cut it short and just give him the compensation for his time and leave. Definitely do not pay any fees up front or give him any information that would be too personally identifiable. Often I will leave my wallet and ID in the car and just have the cash for the session on me and my password locked phone. If hosting, I put away my wallet, bills and computer. Once you build trust, it's fine. Do remember there is a fine line between caution and paranoia. Most likely he is just getting into this business and may be as nervous as you are. Relax and have a good time. 99 percent of the time you'll be comfortable with each other once you meet in person.

I saw an escort actually go into Rent.men and set this up once right after a session. They actually can choose how long they want to be available. But of course many forget they put it on or whatever. It's actually not the same thing as "online now," which of course means they were logged into their Rent.men account. They can show it as available or not regardless of if they are actually logged in.
