Met him years ago soon after I had started bottoming.

I met him. Mixed feelings. We had a decent time but he was very slow to reply. Sent pics and things picked up. Thought I would want to repeat and see if next time was better but a buddy I recommended him to had a miserable time and while he is really hot I don’t want to bank on hope alone.

Great news, thank you for clarifying all these points! You’ve shown yourself to be an experienced, knowledgeable, and thoughtful client. Always a positive to hear about these win-win scenarios. I respectfully disagree. I noticed you made a comment about not wanting to derail this conversation so I’ll also take your lead and not comment much but just remind all that read this that there are two perspectives and clients are vulnerable for being taken advantage of with costs that are unreasonable or uninspired sessions sold as one thing but then the masseur doesn’t deliver which leads me to strongly believe that all is fair if there were no promises made or expectations of more (either physically or monetarily). 

And they know how to get very deep 😉

Just messaged him that we won’t be connecting again.

Be straightforward. Ask him straight out why he is inviting you over again for free. Specifically, "What are you looking for here?" 
Everything else is speculation. 

I’ve experienced similar. I would clarify who wants the meeting. If he’s asking to meet for fun then be clear it’s not going to be a paid encounter. If you schedule then it should be paid. 
 
He is blurring the lines. He shouldn’t be soliciting you anyway. It’s a big red flag when a masseur starts messaging often and harassing me to meet. I always state that I will contact for appointments. If he starts communication, its no longer for a service but for a meet up outside the standard masseur client arrangement.
