I'll never share my hole-in-the wall authentic taco place in Hawaiian Gardens. The one that I bring leftovers to work and people follow their nose to the break room for the aroma.

Did you or anyone try him? It's this Nico, right? https://www.masseurfinder.com/massage-therapists/24639/

Many years ago went there with a friend and a lesbian couple he was chummy with. We looked like a hetero 4-some and were treated like sh!t at one of the dining places. One of our lesbians was about ready to punch out our flaming waiter. But again, was years ago. Also remember the traffic getting there sucked and it was overrun with rude, obnoxious people, kinda like Cali is. So it wouldn't be my choice for a getaway, even if I were visiting friends in Boston. We stayed at a centuries old captains house B&B in Wellfleet that is haunted they said, and went for a nice bike ride down there. Also remember having my fill of lobster which was quite good, nearer to Wellfleet than Provincetown.

I grew up in flyover country. We had a huge state fair. I remember the midway included exotic female entertainers as well as what was referred to as freak shows. The frog boy and so forth. But we were a big family and the cost of attending was not easy for my folks, so most years didn't go until I had a job and could pay. Driving by at night one could see the lights of the midway and fireworks after the grandstand show. That was a thrill for a kid.

Jesus was a real philosopher. How he ended up being marketed to the sheeple is a different story. So yeah, he was the first name that came to mind. Everyone else on here that mentioned the Lord, I've got dibs!! -

Renault studied briefly under JRR Tolkien, worked as a nurse during the war, left the UK with her partner never to return, and became a renowned expert on Greek antiquity. She wrote with great subtlety about same sex love during a time the behavior was still illegal in most places. She was JFK's favorite author. She settled in a bungalow at the beach in Cape Town. I would probably have lunch with her at that bungalow and then watch with her the blond boys surfing in the ocean, which I read she was apt to do. Her book The Last of the Wine about the fall of democracy in Athens is hauntingly similar to what is happening today, how the oligarchs handed Sparta the keys to the city. But we covered most of this in your other thread, didn't we? -

How will markets behave if/when the finance gurus begin reporting how Trump has created a world class deficit, one of the best deficits, a really bigly one. The best thing for folks in debt is inflation right? The Trump clan is up to their assholes in debt. I expect they might be thrilled to see double digit inflation.

Accidental ejaculation happens! Caso Cerrado!! He was wearing a g-string.

^ The CBS piece used the term "wild", when really these people were all human, with human needs. They weren't hurting anyone any more than folks back in the Midwest that were apt to stray from their spouse or meet someone at dusk on the edge of town. Wild? Maybe not.

Geographically there are parts of the old South Central that are miles from Compton. Folks in Orange County and Santa Clarita and Minnesota likely believe they are the same place
-
So which was it? Compton or South Central? Bars on storefronts have existed in major cities decades before your culture shock of visiting LA. I have friends in San Diego that go to TJ for fun at the strip clubs. They never mentioned being worried about safety but never hurts to understand the risks.

I saw the documentary Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood yesterday. Scotty Bowers appeared to have led a selfless, noble, fun loving life. He and director Matt Tyrnauer answered questions afterward. Some might call the backstories sensational, yet these were human beings seeking companionship. To me it was interesting, nostalgic and poignant to hear about. Also, learning about his childhood during the depression and his experience at Iwo Jima was moving. I ordered the book this morning.

Talking Heads was at Coachella this year. Great show. My Dad loved Yes. I still listen to this one. I like Mumford and Sons, Alabama Shakes. Sufjan Stevens, Lumineers, Postal Service and so on. Modern American folk and alternative stuff. You know. Real music.

These places are actually a glorified shack. All outdoor eatin'. I know, it's Pasadena, but I swear the Asian kids scooping the ice cream are not chained to the floor.

When the diet has been totally abandoned, we have this place in Pasadena, and elsewhere in Southern Cal.
