it is still chillier in central Europe than here in DC. The Scheuble is well-liked by all. The renovation was very stylish high-tech but kept the warmth of the 300-year old hotel. First it was the Radisson Alcorn across from the world's top gay strip club. They closed the bar and Alcorn dropped out of Radisson. I then migrated to the Intercontinental up in an expensive part of Old Town. Then they closed it to rebuild it as a Fairmont. Hotels in Prague are exceptionally cheap for their quality. More than a few 5-star ones are $100. Old Town is a herd of tourists in narrow alleys like Venice. Wenceslaus Square is just south of there in "New Town" and it's the main street of Prague and Muzeum is the central metro station. Remember, few of the guys are from Prague. Most live in what we'd call exurbs and some live 100 miles away. So an address can be difficult for them. But everyone knows Wenceslaus Square. The Alcorn is an art deco gem and a very highly-rated one. It's lobby is fantastic and it has one of Prague's best restaurants. It has some penthouse suites with grand views of the castle and it's newish "mini-suites" on the first floor are one stunning modern one and one stunning traditional one. I like the traditional one with a white marble fireplace sitting area and a huge granite hot tub. But being no longer in a chain, I have no "ins" for free rooms or good rates or upgrades. The Alcorn varies greatly in price from day to day, often tripling but sometimes $100ish. But the 1st floor mini-suites are the bargain. My go-to hotel when the Alcorn or the IC were full or too high has always been the Jalta. A half-block up from the Alcorn and right on the center of the Square. The first floor is mostly a very popular indoor/outdoor restaurant (free good breakfast!) and it was renovated a few years ago very well. It's a very historic hotel built after WW2. I always get room 801 which is a nice room with a balcony/patio over the Square that is 15'x15'. Many front rooms have regular balconies. They all look ut on the Square and the castle. The back rooms should be avoided. There's also a Marks and Spencer across the square with a nice cafe. And no escort can't find the Jalta. It's the epicenter of Prague. I don't think I'm alone in that for many years the routine was to let Marcel (Shane Hirsch in porn) come over a half-hour after arriving and schedule "Velvety" for later that evening or next day.
