I just had a second friend die of a clot in the first week of covid with no clot history. He was 64 and was also on Paxlovid. This not long after my cousin dying of a clot a month after covid. (he had a clot history). None of the 3 were on the new mini-shot thinner regimen for covid my doc put me on because I had a clot two years ago. It makes me wonder how well the new mini-shot covid regime is being used and if all three would be alive if they got the very cheap shot regime as I did. People who have or had covid should really ask their MDs about this shot thinner regimen for covid. A small prick to the tummy once a day for 2 weeks is no great fun but it's only $12 co-pay and may save your life.

I've known him for a long time and I really, really hope the age listed is a small fib ! I grew up close to the Carters in Georgia (Columbus) where my dad was a little involved with politics considerably to the left of Mr Carter but when I got to law school his son Jack and I were seat mates for two years. But it's the thought that counts and while Mr Carter and the family were reserved, they were normal people from Miss Lilly to brother Billy. And Amy went to a downtown public school in DC. You won't see that again. And he was unique as a president who was for peace. After being tossed out of office in a landslide the Carters became very much the image of people helping the less fortunate as a lifestyle in retirement and working for peace. His truly American story, from farm boy to nuclear scientist to president will be hard to ever equal. He will be missed.

Sorry, I reversed that in my hurry. But still as a "recovered" I'm pleased it did some good diminishing any repeat.. I'm much more concerned with the clot danger my MD found out about from covid. I don't know anyone else, including people with clot problems, who were warned or put on the thinner shots. Certainly not my ex neighbor or my cousin who died of covid-induced clots the same week I was sick. This new "regimen" seems to be not followed much yet. Both may well have died because they weren't told to get the clot preventive shots.

I was alarmed because I was till testing positive after 14 days but on the 15th the first of many negatives came. I probably went out too soon after I felt good at 3 or 4 days and lengthened the symptoms. Sleep cures best and I found taking a Melatonin made me sleep an extra hour. I took a lot of Sudafed and Mucinex tablets with my doc's OK because I had a huge amount of nasal congestion but she strongly advised Flonase nasal spray, which is normally seasonal allergy. Never had a fever or low oxygen but the Sudafed did make the heartrate go up some.. I did have chills/cold sweats some also but that actually was a good sign as it was my body fighting off the infection .After what my md said and reading on covid and deadly subsequent clots I'd recommend googling and asking I lost my taste and smell for a short time (week?) ..and of course it started when I went to the grocery to stock up on good eats for the isolation.

The next day my former neighbor died of a blood clot at age 65 while in his first week of covid and on Paxlovid. Then the next day my cousin my age died of a blood clot one month after having covid. I messaged my doctor and asked about a clot I had a year and a half ago and she assured me there should be no connection. The next morning she uregently texted me that she had spoken to the Kaiser hematologist and been made aware there was a brand new regimen: "" The hematologist reviewed your chart and said that recent expert recommendations for blood clot prevention in patients at higher risk include use of Lovenox 40 mg sq injection once daily for 2 weeks. You were previously on a higher therapeutic dose of this when you had the pulmonary embolus so I believe you know how to administer (injected under the skin on abdomen) I have called prescription in to pharmacy."" This seems to be a new regimen many people who had covid and had any clot history or risk should follow. I wish my ex neighbor and my cousin had the option and had been told and I let his lover who had covid at the death know as he had a clot history. He had to beg his doctor to take a baby aspirin during covid because of a prior clot. My doctor seems certain the Lovenox shots are critical prevention for anyone with covid and any clot history or risk. People may want to ask their doctors to check their files and covid/clot regimen updates. My copay for the 14 shots was only $12. Too many people are suddenly dying from clots after any covid, even months later it seems.

Wasn't there some discussion that statins may be pulled back some for older patients for some stroke risk ? I'm on Atorvastatin 40mg and with permission of my doctor stopped for two weeks while I had covid and was taking the mini-shots of blood thinner because of a clot history. I would say after a couple weeks off I felt better and more alert, but then anyone 73 coming out of covid feels better. I started it back yesterday.

for me, social media (mostly Messenger) messaging for friends; texts for business like repairmen etc or friends, email more for circle subscriptions or more business stuff I want a copy of saved. The amazing thing about email is it saves for many many years and is easy to search. But it's also an advertsing and spam PITA jungle now. I have an older friend I taught to use computers years ago and she stays stuck on email. At least she's up with that (though she swears something's "broken her computer" every few days.) She calls a lot for an hour at a time. Another newer friend has a weird fascination with the telephone too and he's an IT. I use the phone a lot on speakerphone in the car to be more productive. That's it.
