I was reading a buzzfeed article about how men go out of their way to make women feel safe and protected. Such as never being alone in an elevator with a woman. Dropping her off at home, and waiting to leave until she gets inside safely. Keeping your distance when speaking to a woman you don’t know and giving her space. Some of these statements felt like overkill. As if women are minors. With women it’s so easy to be perceived as a creep, stalker, or harassing, for making any wrong gesture or comment, that I think many men just don’t want to feel like they are violating another person. Another reason it’s good to be gay. The playing field is a lot more even with same sex relationships. I always felt like this was a contributing factor to my homosexuality. Thoughts?

I think the “seeking to better their economic status” is a contributing factor as well.

Interesting Marylander. I never thought of it that way. I googled expat vs immigrant and here were my findings- “Expat- A person who lives outside their native country, usually for a limited period of time, and may or may not intend to return. Expats are often described as educated, rich professionals working abroad. They may choose to live in another country for reasons beyond the economic. Immigrant- A person who moves to a new country with the intention of settling there permanently. Immigrants usually move to better their economic status.” I guess one could say back in the day people from Ireland, Germany, Italy, etc who came to America were immigrants. Today I’d be hard pressed to find someone from a European or other Western country who comes to America, call themselves an “immigrant”. More likely they’d prefer to refer to themselves as an expatriate. Or simply say they moved here versus they immigrated here.

I like mature men. I don’t have an age preference though. I’ve been attracted to men as old as 60. My number one hire is in his early 40’s. I like men that look like men, not boys. 25-45 is my preferred age range.

I thought his homosexuality was common knowledge… I couldn’t imagine what life was like for him in 19th century Russia living as a closeted gay man. I think he knows what he likes. But is confused about whether or not he should come out. It would be a huge story in the press if he did officially come out. I normally don’t hire masseurs. But I was browsing rentmasseur, and it appeared that most or many masseurs are practicing massage therapy without being certified or licensed. For clients, does this matter to you? For masseurs, do you ever worry about getting into trouble with your state board of massage therapy? I know that sexual play is prohibited with most state massage and bodywork therapy licensing boards. I am just curious about how this all works.

I hear you all. I have been pretty open about my own mental health struggles on this board. Having been diagnosed with a mental health disorder, which most people would consider far more severe than depression. I know what it’s like to suffer a mental health breakdown. I had one in my freshman year of college. I was lucky to find the right medication that worked for me, as well as talk therapy. But not even at my worst state of mind, did I ever consider taking drugs or alcohol to cope with my illness. I have never been high, or have ever been drunk. I feel like these things are learned through social peer pressure and kids that like to party, which has never really been my thing. I do confess I’m ignorant about the reasons for substance abuse. Though not so much mental illness and health.

I have empathy for people with depression. However I’m less inclined to be empathetic for those that cope with depression with drugs/alcohol and other substances. I’m sorry this happened to him and may he rest in peace. But to be honest, it’s hard for me to have empathy for someone who knowingly took drugs/alcohol or any other kind of substance before their death. There has to be some kind of personal accountability held. He was rich and famous and had access to medical professionals if he was suffering from mental illness or substance abuse issues. He wasn’t murdered. He didn’t have cancer. He wasn’t killed by a drunk driver. Yes it’s still very sad he died young.

Different strokes for different folks. I have always wanted to hire him, I find him very sexy.

I think I have a sex/hiring addiction as well. I hire once or twice monthly, sometimes a bit more depending on my funds available. I have been looking to relocate for some time now.
