  1. I get that ALL the time. I’m surprised that some people I know assume I’m straight. A few weeks ago I was having a deep conversation with a cute younger guy talking about gay gossip, etc. The young, straight bartender, whom I know well, didn’t even pick up on it. When I told him that I wanted to ask “D” out, he looked shocked. Hilarious.
  2. He was pretty rude; however, I rarely encounter that kind of behavior. When I lived in SoCal, providers would call staying they were stuck on the freeway. Totally understandable. I tend to be pretty laid back about these things. For example, last night I had dinner at the bar of a trendy new place down the street. The bar staff are all kids and I knew a few from other places. They were super busy and it took a while to get my drink. I was very relaxed about it and began chatting with the servers and bar servers. They were pleased that I understood how slammed they were. I was pleased to see that they comped me two glasses of wine! It pays to be sweet and understanding.

    No socks

With nice leather sneakers or loafers, the no sock look is fine, although I mostly wear no-show socks as @Chad Constantine has depicted. It was a preppy look I wore when I was younger, with Topsiders and Bass Weejuns. I wear neither anymore since they became so popular. Paul Fussell famously described the baseball cap as the “prole” cap in his book “Class”. I wear a higher-quality one to the gym or to the beach, but that’s about it. I also wear some artfully ripped jeans occasionally. I have a pair of selvedge jeans with small rips. I don’t dress my age since I have a well-toned body and like to show it off. I’ve always been a clothes horse.
  6. Any experience with this stud? Very responsive and friendly via text. Likely to see him this weekend. https://rentmasseur.com/SupremeJay
  7. I like the “little less masculine” sometimes.

  10. There are still a number of places into which one can disappear.

  13. The eugenics movement was also popular in Sweden, of all places. 1920’s progressives were certainly a far different flavor of progressivism.
  14. He didn’t question a two-hour session at all.
  15. Looks legit to me. Go for an hour and see how the experience is before going for longer sessions. If he were my type, I wouldn’t hesitate.
  16. So much for “photos verified”.
  17. Yelp.
  18. Eastern Europe is like that. Walk around Kiev, L’viv or Kraków and you’ll lose count. In Ukraine, even the police and militia are young and beautiful.
  19. Bumping this. Supposed to meet in 8 days. He confirmed that he’s into kissing.
  20. I do like his photography.
  21. 115 lbs.?
  22. He was, indeed. Very cute with that smug expression.
  23. If I won, I’d get my lawyer to create a trust to receive the proceeds, since I’d hate my name to get out there. Can you imagine the harassment? I’d have to move to some remote place, like the Carpathian Mtns or the Rhodope Mtns in the Balkans!
  24. Re ageism. Even though guys have commented that part of my attraction is my self-confidence, I still worry that I’m too old for some guys and, consequently, shy away from pursuing non-hobby relationships. Just this past Saturday, I met a group of girls and their one gay friend at a neighborhood watering hole. I found the guy, 34ish, very cute a fun. On Tuesday night, I dropped by and he was there with one co-worker, female, who left after few minutes. We chatted for over an hour and I summoned the courage to tell him I’d like to keep in touch and he then suggested we share numbers. Outside, we hugged and went our way. The self-limiting mechanism kicked in and now I’m thinking of avoiding this place for a while. Talk about self-sabotage!
