  1. has anybody ever held the door for you when you're still at least 25 feet from it and you ended up jogging a bit to the door because you felt guilty for them holding it??!! :D

No one has held the door open for me from that distance but I have held it open for that distance and even more when I used to go to the bank. As I approached the doors I'd see people getting out of their car and I'd wait for them and hold the door.

  2. Never met him but I'm betting he's a fake. King Louis XVI was the last King Louis, and he got his head chopped off!! ;)

After Napoleon I there was Louis XVIII the brother of Louis XVI. The son of Louis XVI is considered Louis XVII. After Louis XVIII was his brother Charles X. When he abdicated his son for a few hours was King until he too abdicated is considered Louis XIX.

The current French Legitimate claimant is Louis XX.

  3. On the radio they were discussing whether holding the door open for a woman is considered sexist.

When I was able to get out and about I'd often hold the door open for anyone I saw approaching. Then as it became more difficult for me to move, get around, many were kind enough to hold the door open for me.

When I was boy one time when my mother and I were approaching a store entrance I ran ahead. They were double doors. I pushed both doors open not thinking of my mother who was behind me. They hit her. She wasn't hurt but I learned a valuable lesson that day.

  4. I got rid of the phone company. I rarely use the phone and each year the bill kept going up and up. So I get my phone service from my internet provider. I have a land line. The cost is less than $5 per month for 100 minutes.

  5. My a/c is electric, my heat is gas. The gas is always much higher. I got my January bill today. The total was $150. Electric was $30, gas $120. However I'm on a program where the utility company balances my bill every four months. So I only have to pay $68. The last several months I had been paying $107 per month even though my actual bill was not that much. I still have a credit of $100.

  6. Detroit — A 21-year-old man was found dead at the abandoned Packard Plant Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the man was with a group of friends playing a game of hide-and-seek inside the building on St. Aubin near East Ferry. Police said the building is an extension of the 45-building plant.

The group was playing the game between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on the ninth floor of the building. He ran off to hide and possibly fell through the elevator shaft on the ninth floor, police said.

Friends were unable to find him and left the building. They returned in the morning with flashlights to search for him. They found his body inside an elevator shaft on the first floor covered by debris, police said.

Friends called Detroit police Saturday morning.

Developers of the Packard Plant project at Arte Express purchased the property, with its 43 dilapidated buildings and 45 acres of decayed landscape, in 2014.

The first phase of the project broke ground in May 2017, which included revitalizing the administration building and a nearby building. The project is estimated to cost $23 million and developer Fernando Palazuelo is financing the entire project himself.

The entire project, which has four phases across the property’s 45 acres, is expected to take up to 15 years.

And no doubt the developer will be sued by the family!

Imo those friends of the victim ought to be arrested for trespassing and more!

  7. Or you could eggs in a pot of cold water with a touch of sea salt - cover - set the timer for 12 minutes and turn on the burner sit down -- or didn't you get a wheelchair? Buzzer rings turn off vent steam - let cool in pot -- Sit --- Later once cool - dump water - pack eggs and refrigerate -- shell as needed --- Sit

I didn't get a wheelchair; I wouldn't be able to manage around the apartment in one. I use my walker. But I did put a chair in the kitchen.

Regarding shelling hard boiled eggs - when I did make hard boiled I would shell them immediately. If I waited until they cooled it was too difficult.

Also I learned to only hard boil as many as I was going to then eat at that time. One time I hard boiled a dozen (and pealed them) and put them in the refrigerator planning on having a couple each day. But the end of the week they were not tasting very good.

But my store store sells pealed hard boiled eggs - six in a bag. Last order I bought three bags. I've only opened one thus far. I hope the others have remained fresh.
