The delusion is that Covid-19 can, with enough mask wearing and card checking, be eradicated. That notion is far nuttier than any held by those who are against vaccine mandates.

Pulgasari1991 reacted to HoseMaster in The end to COVID?
I have done my best to respect the diverse opinions regarding COVID-19 over these past few months, however the ER nurse that posted this brilliantly sums up my train of thought :

Please just take politics out of it and read this with an open mind using common sense.

"Anyone out there who can tell me what our end game is with the covid 19?

What is the magic formula that is going to allow us to sound the all clear?

    Is it zero cases?

The only way that will happen is if we just stop testing and stop reporting.

    Is it a vaccine?

It took 25 years for a chicken pox vaccine to be developed.
The smallpox inoculation was discovered in 1796 the last known natural case was in 1977.

We have a flu vaccine that is only 40 to 60% effective and less than half of the US population choose to get one, and roughly 20,000 Americans will die of the flu or flu complications.

Oh, you'll mandate it, like other vaccines are mandated in order to attend school, travel to some foreign countries, etc.

We already have a growing number of anti vaxxers refusing proven, tested, well known vaccines that have been administered for decades but aren’t necessarily safe!

Do you really think people will flock to get a fast tracked, quickly tested vaccine, whose long term side effects and overall efficacy are anyone's best guess?

How long are we going to cancel and postpone and reconsider?
You aren't doing in person school until second quarter?

What if October's numbers are the same as August's?

    You moved football to spring?

What if next March is worse than this one was?

When do we decide quality of life outweighs the risks?

I understand Covid can be deadly or very dangerous for SOME people, but so are strawberries and so is shellfish.

We take risks multiple times a day without a second thought.
We know driving a car can be dangerous, we don't leave it in the garage. Many speed and don't wear seat belts.

We know the dangers of smoking, drinking and eating fried foods, we do it anyway.

Is hugging Grandma really more dangerous than rush hour on the freeway?

Is going out with friends after work more risky than 4 day old gas station sushi?

    Or operating a chainsaw?

When and how did we so quickly lose our free will and give up our liberty?

Is there a waiver somewhere I can sign that says, "I understand the risks, but I choose a life with Hugs and Smiles, and the State Fair and go to Church and go hug my Mom in her retirement home?

I understand that there is a minuscule possibility I could die, but I will most likely end up feeling like crap for a few days.

I understand I could possibly pass it to someone else, if I'm not careful, but I can pass any virus onto someone else.

I'm struggling to see where or how this ends.

We either get busy living or we get busy dying.

When God decides it's your time, you don't get any mulligans, so I guess I would rather spend my time enjoying it and living in the moment and not worrying about what ifs and maybes, and I bet I'm not the only one.

I could only do out calls during the day and set the price at $150. I was surprised to get a job really quickly.
It was a nice guy in his 30s. I was put off by him wanting me to bareback him but I stood my ground. I'm mostly

In August 2015, on the italian equivalent of Backpage, I had answered an ad from a 60-something guy "offering flowers". He was looking for my type, also he was hosting and didn't want a last-minute thing, which I needed. The rate was very cheap but still something I could appreciate. After a few emails, we went straight to the point and set a date.
We met at a public place, had some smart talk on his car on the way to his home, then he politely asked me to hide under the seat right before parking, because he was afraid of being seen by his neighbours.
We had some more talking at his place, where he went on and on telling how he wasn't into transvestites or other "weird and degenerate things" and making the point that he wasn't looking for whores.
Then we went to action. He was passionate but had a bad breath; on my side I couldn't feel any chemistry nor get a hard-on, but that didn't stop us as he was a top. Furthermore, I was armpulled into foregoing protections.
Then each one had a quick shower and he offered me a coffee to accompany my smoke.
On the way out, I noticed his bust of Mussolini and he commented that he should have taken better allies, to which I replied something like "hmm yeah, that definitely played a huge role there".
Finally he brought me back to my town.
It could have been worse than that of course but I find it bleak enough.

Have you found a Website or App that seems to read your mind or predict / influence what you are going to do?

In my case, it's Youtube, and it's not the first time this happens.
It just showed me a recipe containing 1 single ingredient that I bought and it's been resting on my kitchen countertop since last night.
I didn't call or text anyone on my phone or laptop about it, neither I browsed recipes, and I don't use any voice assistants at all.
I don't know if I should feel pleased or scared. I would certainly feel alarmed if one day it starts showing me funeral services videos.

Actually, it’s a great way to do business, especially in this terrible pandemic/social unrest/presidential jitters time.

At this point I’ve already had 3 confirmed with deposits over the past couple days. There was also a previous client who didn’t bother to reply back, which saved me time in the long run. It let me know he’s not worth taking seriously to book an appointment...because even previous clients can and will stand us up.

It’s not just about them “asking questions”. It’s more involved than that. My decision is based on cumulative things that have occurred. As I said in another thread.

When I look at my phone and see a DOZEN texts in a week, and only have 1 or 2 appointments to show for it...sometimes 0, that equates to minute after minute after minute, which adds up to hours out of my day to day life: that I could be doing other things with. So, the only way to fix it is to make sure they have payment from the start. Not, 100 text messages later. Or, 14 days after their initial text when they asked if I was available, then stopped responding, only to ask me again like it never happened.

With everything that’s going on, people are using us as time killers. As for questions, that’s what my auto texts are for. That’s what I spend $79.99 a month for. Why am I spending $79.99 a month for an ad that has pics, videos and stats; only to need to ask MORE QUESTIONS???? Plus more combining the other ads. It comes complete with everything they need to know.

Once they pay me the initial deposit for the session, then we can carry on more questions. So far the only time it’s not worked for me, is when I’ve forgotten to ask for it, or let it slide like I did earlier this week: and went on an outcall to someone who’s been contacting me since JANUARY, only to get there and be stood up.

So, yeah I’m just not playing these games with people no more. I’ve been burnt over, and over, and over. And now I’ve written in all my ads across the board, that they must make a deposit to book me. So nobody can fake like they didn’t know. If someone says they don’t want to do it, oh well. I’m choosing to operate how I wish to operate. I don’t want to take every appointment request I get, and try to coddle them into booking...or just randomly get crumbs and pieces of “interest” here and there from people who never want to commit and book. I also told people don’t call me, I won’t answer. Because I’ve wasted too much time with phone chat too.

I had a discussion with a client today. He told me how he got stood up on a call out before. I sympathized, but I told him: the difference between a client getting stood up and the provider: we’re doing this everyday. Imagine the “chance” of getting stood up multiple times a week, over a period of years. Eventually, a person is going to come to their senses and maybe...? make sure they aren’t JUST getting deposits, but making sure people don’t bullshit them into thinking they’re even going to get an appointment.

I just went to my local Walmart and bought a dozen eggs. I lifted each one up in my chosen carton and inspected it for cracks. One had a crack I'm not sure I would have noticed if I hadn't picked it up. I took it out and replaced it with an egg from another carton.

I started thinking about whether I should do that now.

    Definitely.

However with me, I have moved away from a lot of the chit chat. Not that I don't like to, but in the past have not had people respect my time. Nowadays I never answer phone calls without the client having an appointment made and confirmed.

People don't understand that chat time is money time. I've been bamboozled into engaging in explicit or promising phone chats, only to be cancelled on. So if anyone wishes to chat, I just ask for $50+ deposit towards the session. That's not asking a lot. Our ads and pics and videos pretty much do all the pre-workout for us.

Pulgasari1991 reacted to Jarrod_Uncut in Do you ever turn your phone off at times
By turning phone off, I refer mainly to those who may have a separate ad/work phone or number.

I ask because some days, I don’t really be “available now” to take clients, but leave my phone on and communicate when an inquiry does come thru. Perhaps I can schedule something for the next day or later in week. If I have enough notice to take it, and the client properly confirms (usually with a deposit), I can go ahead and take the visit that day.

Problem is, it more often than not ends up creating unnecessary distraction and time waste. Just today, I had 3 clients text me almost around the same time, and an email asking if I’m available today. Non of them end up panning out. I was going to be on my way to run track, and instead got side tracked answering messages. Then it rained, and I missed the opportunity.

For a short while, I was randomly turning my phone off whenever I found myself invested in something I knew I couldn’t pull myself from (a date, house project, gym) But there’s been several times where I’ve been entrenched in a project, take time out to answer texts...only to completely lose my motivation.

At one point I was almost considering posting that I’d only answer messages between a certain time of day. That way I’m not getting randomly pulled into answering messages round the clock, when I may not be in the position to hold a conversation. That’s also why I no longer accept phone calls, unless it’s a confirmed appointment.
