You will find that common advice here is: Never pay upfront, especially if you have never met the provider. Not even half the fee. Not even a deposit. It is a big red flag that usually means you will be disappointed.

I’ve spent a lot of time in some of the cities you mentioned. Nashville is really not affordable anymore - real estate prices are crazy and traffic is horrible, as an example. It pays to visit and see for yourself. Pittsburgh or Charlotte would be better choices. Also add Greenville, SC and Albuquerque, NM. Just my 2 cents…😏

It is really tough when this happens - as time goes by, the line between “professional” and “friend” tends to blur. No one’s fault - it is just the way things are. The world turns and people move on to new careers and interests. If you could keep him around as a friend - would you? If no - wish him the best and move on. If yes - wish him the best but ask him to let you know how things go. If he is open to the idea, go the friends route. “If you are in my neighborhood, let me know and we can meet for lunch”…

I always make sure he knows how to drive stick! 😆 Ive been asked a few times and I will usually agree to compensate for the taxi, but the dude can call one himself if he is heading over to me. When he leaves, the hotel lobby staff can usually help him secure a ride on his way out. He may be walking funny, so they will be sympathetic… 😂
