It's called distrust, well-earned distrust based on past actions... actions that I won't list here in order to keep the thread from getting sent to politics.

Paranoid view of their government (as you call it) is people believing without proof that our democratically-elected president is being controlled by a foreign government ?

The fact is we don't HAVE a "System" of elder care in this country. We have a patchwork of distinct systems(government, private pay, Veterans, "charity"), that barely talk to each other and often contradict each other, everyone playing a game of hot potato to not be the one who pays, and people generally don't plan, so when the need arises to navigate this system, they have no idea what the hell to do, and suboptimal decisions are made all over the place. And it's generally something you only do once in your life, so you don't even get a chance to use what you learn about it. It's horrific.

I also read that Vitamin D deficiency may play a role in mortality rates of Covid-19. That may explain why African-Americans tend to have more severe symptoms of Covid-19. 40% of American adults are vitamin D deficient but for African-Americans, that number may be nearly double at 76% - this may result from blacks having larger amounts of the pigment melanin in the epidermal layer that reduce the skin's ability to produce vitamin D from sunlight.

Opposing draconian lockdown measures that violate our rights/civil liberties isn't anarchy, it's called being pro-freedom.

I was DONE with the lockdown BS the moment government thugs started threatening people with fines & jail time simply going outside. It went from "public safety concerns" to we are now a Police State.

When the anti-lockdown protests took place, fearmongers in the media were almost predicting everyone to end up on a ventilator gasping for air, then weeks passed & nothing really happened lol

The role of the "news" media in the U.S. has always been to protect & maintain the status quo, they don't want people exercising their 1st Amendment rights against politicians & the government. The best thing we can do is ignore their fake concern & live life according to how we each want it! ?

No one is denying the virus' existence. What some of us are against are the creepy authoritarian lockdown measures our government took that deprived us of our freedoms & left millions of working people unemployed... among many other things.

It's easy for government/media goons to tell others to give up their jobs & surrender their freedoms in the name of "public safety" when they're not the ones having to do it... they aren't the ones losing out in this Covid hysteria period.

The only rational path forward is the Sweden model. People who want & need to work shouldn't be forced into unemployment/economic ruin just to please those living in fear. Young & healthy people shouldn't be forced into home imprisonment either.

I unfortunately need FB in order to stay connected with my massive extended family. It'd be impossible to keep in touch with most of them otherwise.

Don't mind getting bday wishes at all since most of them come from RL friends & fam who don't need FB to remind them of my birthday.

At my local Smart & Final except for Clorox and Lysol Disinfecting Wipes everything seems relatively back to normal. They don't expect these two items to be back in stock until mid July. As I've stated elsewhere on this thread the employees at this store have been wonderful to me. Yesterday I made six dozen ginger snaps which I dipped in white chocolate and took them over to the employees along with twenty $5.00 gift cards for Starbucks. The manager was quite shocked but seemed pleased. It was the very least I could do for all the wonderful service I have received from these outstanding people.

@Todd Jenkins – of course all the doomsayers who were just last week screeching “Trust the WHO!” are cautioning to wait.

Remember the meteoritic spike in cases we were inevitably going to see two weeks after Memorial Day, too? I’m still waiting for that and it’s been two weeks…

Having worked in retail banking for 30+ years, I've seen a number of credit monitoring services pop up from time to time. If you are going to pay for a credit monitoring service, then myFICO is one I'd recommend as it is independent of a credit bureau or a lender. They also provide your FICO score, which the products offered by the credit bureaus do not offer. The credit bureau products provide an "educational" score, similar to the ones CreditKarma provides, which are similar to FICO scores but not the same as FICO scores. Lenders use FICO scores to decision credit applications.

I used myFICO several years ago and thought it had some cool features, such as:

Simulation: You could see an estimate of your credit score if you reduced debt by "x" amount or increased it by "y" amount
Your actual FICO 8 score: CreditKarma and the credit bureaus display an "educational" credit score, which is close to but not the same as the FICO score. that's because the FICO models are proprietary to Fair-Isaac (The "F" and "I" of "FICO")
A side-by-side of your credit bureau reports: Exactly what it says : All three bureaus' reports side-by-side.

However, to receive a monthly update is $39.95/month. The $29.95/month plan gives you quarterly updates.

It really depends on what you are looking for from a service. If you want a general picture of your credit health and alerts to when your credit reports are accessed, CreditKarma is adequate, even though it only displays scores from two of the three major bureaus (TransUnion and Equifax - it does not report on Experian). If you want tools like simulation and your actual FICO score, then I'd go with myFICO. I would not recommend paying for the credit bureaus' own services because they essentially deliver what you can get for free by doing a little legwork.

    Hope this helps.

**EDIT: Clarified that the credit bureau products don't provide a FICO score. The original wording might mislead one into believing I was referring to myFICO. Apologies for any confusion.

Still, just one case... most people don't develop symptoms, don't even know they have the virus when they catch it. We can't live our lives in fear just because of this one particular case... which is what fear agents in the media seem to want.
