  1. I've found some interesting discussion about the Aciman event In Weho last Friday and also read on Facebook the crowd was very large, that many could not get in. Such is life in Calfornia. Aciman will be in San Diego on Thursday. La Jolla I believe. Tempted!
  2. I'm an old Hollywood buff! http://78.media.tumblr.com/51151367eaaa5ca937dba640eb9af64f/tumblr_oitfccm6bA1qe4ru4o1_400.gif http://78.media.tumblr.com/c9c775150ee65aad06fcbc8b79dd1a3c/tumblr_oitfccm6bA1qe4ru4o2_400.gif http://78.media.tumblr.com/3cc593ffcf70d7699e185dee6f8c2adc/tumblr_o79d7dpkSq1r187pho1_500.gif Roman Navarro was an international superstar, played Ben-Hur
  3. Didn't get to see Aciman tonight in West Hollywood. Sad! But here is an interesting Aciman interview about CMBYN. http://radioopensource.org/call-andre-aciman/#
  4. AJ, epi 4. So handsome after the makeover, but even before, he was adorkable.
  5. Thanks. Karl. My CMBYN bluRay is on order!! Shipping Mar 13th.
  6. I have also read and re-read the book, seen the movie a number of times and own the audiobook which is a must have. Now I'm just left with ordering the bluRay. I noticed the box office take continues to rise. Curious that no numbers for France and Germany are listed. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=callmebyyourname.htm
  7. My parents were extremely frugal Swedes and so we rarely ate anything that wasn't prepared at home. On the very rare occasion they picked up a pizza, that was such a treat. We 5 boys surrounded the pizzas like a pack of starving dogs. We did have one authentic Italian restaurant nearby but for some reason we were in love with Pizza Hut. These days I'd never bother with pizza unless it's more authentic, and not from a franchise. There isn't much good pizza where I live. For really good food including pizza I think of Chicago and out east. Where I live now folks are not all that picky about their cuisine, especially pizza
  8. Helena Bonham Carter has some very interesting comments on one of my DVDs, either Maurice or possibly Room With a View. But I digress! For OutFest members that can't quite let go, Timothee Chalamet will do a Q&A tomorrow night in Beverly Hills at the Laemmle after a 7:30pm screening. Not sure if open to public, but call the theater to ask. Also, this Friday Andre Aciman will discuss the book at the WEHO Public Library. Here is his latest book signing tour, discussing both CMBYN and Enigma Variations. Both books deal with bisexual feelings, coming of age, and onward. https://us.macmillan.com/tour?isbn=9781250169440
  9. I have but been a while. I own the re-release with all of the disc extras.

  11. Does anyone know a reputable gay doctor somewhere south of LA, from LAX down to OC? I had a gay doctor in the OC and wasn't satisfied. He ended up going boutique. I didn't need someone that charged a premium. Then switched to another guy nearer to my house, but the billing from that clinic seemed shady. Finally switched to Hoag. Billing is OK. The doctor is cool. But I'd still like to have care of a gay doctor
  12. @ BAFTA tonight in London winner for ADAPTED SCREENPLAY CALL ME BY YOUR NAME James Ivory
  13. THE HANDMAIDEN Park Chan-wook, Syd Lim won at BAFTA for best non English film. Great Korean flick. Very sensual girl/girl, erotic, psychological thriller. Awesome, epic movie.
  14. I'm surprised you expect it's not legal. There are airlines that have no children flights during the evening. I am no lawyer, but it all makes sense to me.
  15. Some of his YouTube interviews e.g. Tyler Oakley show a very emotionally intelligent guy. Somehow his TV interviews at the Olympics aren't all that great. Maybe it's his unique way of thinking. I like him though.
  16. Hoping this isn't too off topic, but I had a facial there and the guy that did it was very sweet. Also had a nice massage. There. Back on topic.
  17. Thank you TruHart1. What a great acceptance speech. Someone that has read the screenplay noticed how the film does not track certain aspects of the screenplay which makes me wonder if these screenplay awards are based on the final outcome. I expect they are. Since Ivory mentioned Andre Aciman, I'll share that he is on a book signing tour for CMBYN as well as his latest book. https://us.macmillan.com/tour?isbn=9781250169440
  18. I've never enjoyed the skating coverage as much as this Olympics with Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski. Gotta wonder though, when I watched last night his hair was almost another TV show happening, a little bit distracting. I just couldn't figure out what was going on up there on top of his head. Probably just me being old fashioned, because I couldn't tell whether it was all him, or some kind of head piece. Didn't seem like made-for-TV hair. At least they didn't stop to talk about it. That would have been worse. I'm glad T.L. and J.W. are doing the skating comments for NBC. I admit looking forward to what's up there next time, and perhaps that is what it's all about.
  19. Gay men are like all men. They need to get out more.
  20. I remember reading when Book of Mormon first opened on Broadway how it struck a chord with audience members that grew up with the doctrine. It's showing here next month. I should finally see it!
  21. Would be an interesting experiment to gather data on. I like data. The Korean study was limited. I'd need to sample beyond that factor, although it's a good place to start.
  22. ...and these? http://www.fascination-on-ice.ch/.cm4all/iproc.php/FoI15/foto2-acrobats.jpg/downsize_1280_0/foto2-acrobats.jpg
  23. With Alan Ball executive producing and starring Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins, I'm in!
  24. The Guardian's piece on recent gay cinema, including LOEV, Beach Rats, and God's Own Country. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/feb/04/gay-cinema-gods-own-country-beach-rats-loev
