It is a gay issue and will never really jump into the larger population. Semen is the main factor for transmission moreso than more skin to skin contact. It's no mystery why it exploded after the pride month. Even if we have relations with a few closeted bisexual/do it still wouldn't be enough to become a full blown pandemic. Everyone is laughing at us.

Hit or miss depending on who you get and what you’re looking for. It’s run by the same guys who used to run The One in Chelsea. Can recommend Ryan out of the three guys I’ve tried so far.

I also wonder about the sheets and towels etc that are used. Are they being thoroughly washed hot water soap and dried in hot dryer to kill anything?? I really want to have a massage badly, but all this makes me still say "Wait!" I had my 1st shot last week, so getting there 😂

Yup! My injection site was swollen purplish red for over 2 weeks and I also had 1 large pimple and what looked like a boil, but both went away after 2 -3 days. Saw my ID doc and he said was definitely reaction, not to worry.

I got my first shot last Sunday in my forearm.  7 days later it's still bright red, itchy and sore as hell.  Normal right?!?!?!?!  🥴

Agreed. Danny is not a recommend. Very rushed massage and not very friendly. I stopped going to Utopia because every time I called he was the only one available.

Getting my first dose today through Fairfax County Dept. of Health here in VA. All I had to do was fill out an interest form online to show I was eligible and they called me a few days later to schedule my appointment.

"No, there haven’t been any monkeypox deaths reported yet in the U.S." - www.verifythis.com

Aug. 12, 2022 – "So far, no monkeypox deaths have been reported in the U.S." - WebMD

"As of August 4, there have been 26,864 confirmed cases of monkeypox worldwide.
Of those, there have been 10 confirmed deaths in Spain, Brazil, India, Ghana, and Nigeria.
There are 7,102 monkeypox cases in the US and so far no one has died on American soil from it." - Insider.com
No US deaths and 10 worldwide.  Those 10 could have had other contributing factors as well...no way to know.
Oh, forgot to add.  Those 10 are 0.03% mortality rate.  Not even CLOSE to 1%.  Though, for me that sample size is too small...I don't think a larger size would change the factor by 33x.

The WHO reported today that globally the number of Monkeypox cases is declining. But not everywhere and in some locales is increasing. The US has the highest number of reported cases. Canada and some others have significant number of cases given population.
I think it was SirBillyBob who reported here that cases in Canada are now declining. I spoke with a provider today in Montreal about getting together next month and he has cut way back as I have on dates. I've been with him 4 times over the last 6 months. A month from now we'll see how things are. It's nice to have a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how tentative it is.

Utopia on  the Upper East Side (70th & Lex) is owned by the same delightful couple that owns Shangri-La.  I haven't been to Utopia in a while (I was a regular), but I'm sure they offer a table shower.

Had my first visit to Utopia last week since before Covid. Same clean, respectful service. Indeed the shower room remains in tact, though their plastic covered table is my least favorite. I had not booked an appointment. Only guy available was “Danny” - Asian, guessing early 30s, slim to avg build. Not a recommend.

Yes, the worst case scenario among the Smallpox studies for MVA-BN 2-dose 28-day interval referenced in guidance is desired seroconversion % rate at high 60s (some studies in the 80s) at Day28 and sliding up to high 90s at Day42. For HIV poz the picture is far worse for the interim period, as low as 10% seroconverted by Day28 but then big bump up in % seroconverted by Day42. For that subgroup in particular there is a bigger climb to possible but more likely immunity following 2nd doses, suggesting the imperative of full regimen and importance of not shortchanging wait time to encounters subsequent to the 2nd dose. The Reddit OP did not indicate HIV status.
That said, desired seroconversion rates, if you are restricted to a single dose for the time being, are better at 28 days compared to 14 days.
The above points pertain to data for folks with no Smallpox vaccination history.

There are ways to get two doses without being immunocompromised.
I had my first vax in Toronto, while getting my second at a local agency who was offering them to anyone who came in.
Two doses remain the most effective treatment, especially if you're in a higher risk category.

Yes, and what I have read is it's 98% effective 14 days after 2nd dose! (83%  28 days after 1st dose) so seems like the Reddit post took a chance and waited only 9 days after 2nd dose to engage. 🤷‍♂️

Anonymous reddit isn't exactly what I'd call a reliable source, but I agree that there's no such thing as 100% protection in this.
I'll wait until there's published medical studies done to judge how effective this vax is.
My advice for now is for everyone at risk to get vaccinated and to exercise good judgement.
That and a nickle will buy you a cup of diner coffee 😄

Signs are that Canada has turned a corner this month regarding MPXV incidence, with a single-dose MVA-BN vaccine strategy and uptake by no more than 20% of the targeted MSM population. I believe the UK picture is similar.

I saw this article this morning. I wonder how common breakthrough infections occur with people already fully vaccinated against monkeypox? Is it like covid when you can still get it, but symptoms won’t be as severe? I guess only time will tell.

AReceived my second shot yesterday,  Aug 19. Administered intradermally. Woke up this morning with intense itching and a raised reddish area. Seems to be the standard reaction to the intradermal shot.
