Chicago is a major fail. Over 4,000 new cases today In Illinois... a record. The Governor has a 5 phase approach to re-opening. We’ll never get to a full Phase 5 reopen in the Northeast part of the state. We’ll probably never get to Phase 3 in Chicago. People are only willing to sacrifice so much personal freedom. At some point they will say enough.
Sad but likely true. The problem with this thinking is that more cases doesn't automatically mean more people are infected, only that we now know the people who are infected. In other words, at least at this time, more testing means more cases. So if people just say screw it and revert to normal behavior, infection rates can shoot up and we are right back to saturated hospitals. I've been following the daily death counts, because even though it's a trailing indicator and is an undercount, I think it's more informative.
There was an epic rant about this on this podcast today:

The paper product aisle at the local supermarket was stacked high this weekend, I can imagine most of which will likely sit there for months now because most people ran out of room to store another bale of toilet tissue rolls.

(And for the skeptics, this is not forced perspective, that sign was really at the entrance to the cemetery for over a week)

Even my firm instituted a wage freeze, a hiring freeze, and no bonuses for the year.
But the question is this because of an expectation of less money coming in the door, or just because they can right now? The technology sector is mostly looking at this as an opportunity to get a bigger slice of the economy pie, so even if the pie is smaller for now, it still yields them more and puts them in a good position moving forward.
I suspect this might be the same for the working guys. Specialty providers with niche markets might do well, while the guys who are just 'available' might take a hit. No one answer will apply to everyone.

Unasked, a guy just unlocked his pics for me on RM. We have never interacted, he is not local to me, he is in my buddy list because I occasionally travel to his area.
But get this, his account is frozen, so I wouldn't be able to contact him if I wanted to... I guess that is thinking ahead? I kinda like it.

At my primary Costco, the gas station workers sanitize the pump after every customer serves themself.

Am I the only one who cannot play the videos from here?
Yes.

To be clear, my point here is the ample incidents of jurisdictions deploying gratuitously low speed limits along with cameras in a cash grab.
...the city intends to install speed bumps throughout the entire neighborhood. This is how you can tell a jurisdiction is serious about regulating speed. Circles are also great for traffic calming but hard to retrofit to existing roads.
I see them in a lot of new developments.

I enjoyed the film. I was particularly reminded of the matched opposing pairs that make up one of my all time favorite films, The Rules of the Game (Original French title: La Règle du Jeu).

25 is a standard limit for residential areas.
My neighborhood includes a four lane road that is a major bridge between two state highways and is a snow emergency route. The speed limit is 25 mph and there is a speed camera. So it's clear the jurisdictions are exploiting some scenarios for cash. In fact...

I blame video games. At this point, generations have grown up with highly realistic games where reckless driving is rewarded. I have no problem with the games themselves, but people need to distinguish between a game and reality.

Twincest or not, these guys need to spend more money on better wigs.
Not directed at you, but I just want to say how incredibly lucky I feel, that my youth was not documented in a permanent record that could follow me around the rest of my life.
