    Bump.

I am supposed to meet a masseur tomorrow at his studio at 51 W 14th. st. I gather this is 3F Studios. Does anyone know what it's like one year after last year's fire damage? Things seem to look fine per 3f's website.

Also, this will be my first time visiting a rented studio space. Any precautions I should be aware of, other than to keep things quiet?

It's been about 3 or 4 months since I went there.  The studio where I met my masseur was on the floor above where the fire was (I believe).  You could see where the damage had been (the door to that section had been boarded up and it looked like it was a construction site), but the studio where the massage was seemed totally normal.

I haven't heard of that scam. What happens exactly? 🙂

Really? I saw it mentioned in several tourist videos I watched prior to going.

But the gist of it is that a guy will walk past you and right before he passes you he'll drop a shoe shine brush so it's in your path (in our case it was about 6 feet from us when it hit the ground).  If you pick it up and give it back to him, he'll want to 'reward' you for the favor and want to shine your shoes.  If you let him, he'll then expect you to pay him for the shine.

We ignored the brush, though after a delayed reaction we looked at each other and chuckled since we realized what had just happened.  Thought we heard the guy cussing behind us, too, since we didn't pick it up.  LOL.

  3. I bought groceries yesterday for last night's dinner and the whole rotisserie chicken, organic asparagus, and  can of black beans cost me $17 (this is in NYC).  If I had bought skinless chicken breasts and cooked them myself that would have shaved off $4 to $5 dollars off the price.  Hardly breaking the bank.

    @augustus and @Thelatin,

    Those are good rates. 👍🏼

I have some CD’s maturing next month. I’m currently earning 5.25% at Citibank but their new best rate is 4.75% for 6 months. I’ll look into your suggestions. Thanks!

Huh, I just had a 6 month treasury order execute this morning and when I multiply out the rate, it comes out to almost 5.5%...and no NYC or NYS taxes!

  5. Holy mother!

We'll be back in London in late September, wouldn't mind hearing something about him if any details become available.

(and is he actually based in London?  it says he's there now, but not sure that's where he lives).

Is it inhumane to say that provider is such a bad actor…that the relevant RE mgmt company be altered provider is running a business (a ripoff one at that) from the provider’s apartment?

I think a discussion on these forums about him and the cautionary warnings are enough.  Going down the rabbit-hole of trying to get him in trouble with his apartment management is opening a whole other can of worms and comes off as vindictive, IMO.

  7. I saw him just before Covid and he was clean (I think the hygiene stuff is bull) and the massage was good.  Was planning on seeing him again as an escort but since Covid it sounds like his service isn't as good as it was so I'll probably pass.  People change and they can get a bit jaded...maybe that is what happened to him.

  8. I hadn't really read this thread much since I doubt I'll ever return to Barcelona (been there 3 or 4 times).  But reading about Thermas brought back enough memories that it made me look at my old trip notes to see when I would have been there.  1998, yikes!  I want to say I hired a guy for the equivalent of about $20.  It actually took me about an hour to realize it was a 'for hire' place, LOL.

  9. It looks like every pic has that line under the hairline...where the face he has inserted meets the rest of the body.  LOL.  Looks like lots of photoshopping going on (and bad work at that).

My experience with JohnSport was before Covid and he had a menu of options that ranged from purely therapeutic and clothed to erotic and naked with HE, with prices increasing (naturally) as the options became more sensual or erotic.  Nothing more than an HE was on the menu.  The more erotic options were definitely pricey by then market standards, and whether they were worth it was of course subjective.

    This may have changed since.

Also, it was posted here that he was married to a man.

I saw him after Covid died down (sometime within the last year) and it was the same as you described for me.  I don't remember what the rate was, but he did get nude and and allowed touching and a HE.  It couldn't have been TOO expensive, or I wouldn't have hired him otherwise.

I bought a pack of 100 on Sweet Deals at Black Friday for this very reason. Cost me $45 during a sale they had back then and now I'm set for a long time.

I bought 80 stamps on Amazon in 2018 for around 32 cents each.  I still have 72 of them left.  Just don't use snail mail all that much.

I've played with him (not for massage) he is wonderful. His husband too.

He ad says he can offer 4-hand as well.  Any idea if that would be his husband and if he has an ad so we can take a peak?

  13. "The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% over the previous month and 3.5% over the prior year in March, an acceleration from February's 3.2% annual gain in prices. The data matched February's month-over-month increase.

Both measures came in ahead of economist forecasts of a 0.3% monthly increase and a 3.4% annual increase, according to data from Bloomberg."

So, 0.1% higher on both the previous month forecast and the annual forecast.  When I went to pull up the report I thought I was going to see inflation back in the 4% to 5% range.  I guess overreaction is the name of the game.

  14. So.  Istanbul ended up being a really cool place (tourist wise).  I went to three hammams and was underwhelmed, but will say they all seemed to be totally gay (one guy even told me everyone in the one I was at WAS gay).  Went to Cihangir (it was one block from our hotel), Firuzagha (felt exactly like a western bathhouse), and Yesildirek (big place but only 3 clients there, including myself).  I liked Cihangir the best, I think, just cuz of the cruisy atmosphere and it had a reliable mix of ages (both younger and older).

Other than that, we really enjoyed our trip there and didn't have the old "drop the shoe brush" scam tried on us until the last day (9th day) in Turkey.  The guy didn't seem too pleased we didn't stop for it, though we did laugh once we realized what had happened, lol.

Thank you so much everyone.  I will be there only 6 or 7 nights.  Of course I'll spend time in Oslo.  I really want to get up to see one of the great Fjords too.

That was very funny.  In the '90s I had a 1982 Ford Escort.  Horrible car.  This was after a 1988 Ford Tempo, which was the worst car on earth.

Learn all about the most famous Norwegian fjords.

This tourist site from Norway shows the location of several of the fjords.  Several are due west of Oslo and it's and easy drive across from Oslo to Bergen.  The blue dot south is Pulpit rock (which overlooks a fjord) and the big fjord to the north of Bergen is one we did as a day trip...I found the ferry schedule for the area and used it as our own fjord tour, stopping in one of the towns for lunch before heading back.

  16. We spent 40 days traveling around Norway and is still one of SO's favorite vacations.  We didn't do a cruise either.  It was pretty easy to look online to find boat tours that go out in the fjords for a few hours, and that was enough for us.  After Oslo we drove across to Bergen and then headed south so we could do the trek up to Preikestolen (Pulpit rock), about 4 hours round trip.  I think anywhere you go in the country is going to be worth it.
