This is probably the best thread I’ve read since being a member. I’m 46, horny as a goat most days, but I too have cut down on hiring, and for many of the reasons others have stated. When I started in the south, there were maybe 3 guys and the occasional traveler to choose from. Now there are over 20 choices, yet many are probably from backpage, so the quality is questionable at best. Many of the new guys are very young, want to charge $300 in a $200-$250 city, have way too much attitude, and just honestly turn me off. I wait for some consistent travelers or treat myself when out of town. But the main reason I cut back is that prices are going up, but my salary hasn’t and is not keeping pace with inflation. I just don’t have the discretionary income that I used to have. I’m definitely part of the middle class that continues to shrink.

Much more realistic. And statistically, if you're pulling 300K/year, you're in the "1%."
 
Translation - a lot of these boys on SA are going to be disappointed. How many of the 1% are gay men?
 
If my salary keeps going up, I'd love to get a houseboy/servant, but I've never been interested in "dating" like that. Probably a hangover from my own youth.

I find it disgusting these individuals prey upon the stereotypical fear and shame in hiring or even being gay. I’ve had some encounters where catfish attempt to extort me, and I laugh and say what do you honestly think you can do? I have nothing to hide, but looking at your face I can see why you do. Seriously the dude hit every branch falling off the ugly tree. Couldn’t pay me to do him.

I’m sorry this happened. It is extremely rude, but the guys that have commented are correct. Consider it a blessing in disguise and move on. I come across odd behavior often, and I’m sure it applies to both client and provider, but I just shake my head, laugh out loud and click next.

I had to bump this thread for anyone who might have missed it. Just got to reread it as leisure; with a stiff drink in front of me. Opted to leave the bottle after this one; holy fuck.

It’s easy to play armchair quarterback yet another to be faced with it. Instead of judging perhaps be grateful someone else shared, particularly when they did something admittedly against their better judgment.

All I can say is another one of those that give all legit providers a bad name. Catfish photos and clearly much older than what’s posted. That said he is good looking so I stupidly stayed. Bad choice. After a massage he indicated time was about up. I was so disappointed, I left. I don’t get overly emotional during conflict, but I did tell him how disappointed I was and when he started with excuses and blaming me, I just turned and left. Another one of those lessons in life I continue to receive.

I agree that one should always be honest but unfortunately adjectives are subjective and those same guys probably believe they are a jock. None of us like getting old. I swear most guys think I’m in my 30s because of all the dudes in their late 50s saying they are 42. I’m proud to be 46.
 
I would question that if looks matter to an escort that maybe they are in the wrong business. It’s like anything else in life, sometimes they are going to get ugly other times average and once in awhile hot. My straight escort friend said he isn’t attracted physically to men but he is to the personalities.

You are correct that the cities have changed with the influx of people, and for Charlotte many of those are from New York and San Francisco due to BOA and Wells operations. The liberal movement is in full swing and spreading through the suburbs. What both cities lack though are established gay neighborhoods. People are spread out all over the city. And oh fuck old money. Let them get pissed off. The ol Dixiecrats need to go. What Charlotte has going for it is lower housing costs than many other cities. You can still get a decent property for under $200k.

Almost all states have prostitution laws and there has been a crackdown on massage parlors but you aren’t in that category at all and most of it subsided with the removal of craigslist and backpage ads. Crackdowns are aimed at sex slavery and abusive situations, they pretty much leave men alone in our situations. Best wishes though on where you land!

I tend to be attracted to masculinity but some effeminate characteristics are ok. A person’s personality can overcome a great deal. A super masculine guy that is a jerk is a turnoff, and even masc guys who can be campy queens turn me off. But a sweet, yet slightly effeminate man could be a turn on. I would not be considered super masc or effeminate but I can ride a horse, work cattle, change oil in a car, and later can cook a great meal, bake a pie, and sew a pillow over.
 
In the gay community the two are becoming more merged as guys may be a bit of both. I played competitive sports for years and the uber masculinity of football can be thrown by the wayside in gay flag football with all the campiness that goes on in light hearted fun. But in no way does it diminish the quality of athletics that you’ll see. For some of my friends who came to watch, it was a mini culture shock.

Wardrobe used to be a sign, but the metrosexual has put an end to that. I used to be one of the best dressed at work but now I give that title to a straight, former marine. Mannerisms aren’t even a giveaway anymore. I swear my gaydar was never great, but it’s just downright horrible now.

In many of our corporate lives we have vacation or PTO. Recognize when you need a break and take it. Don’t be afraid to turn of your phone for a set period each day. If someone berates you for not contacting them immediately consider it a dodged bullet and block their entitled ass. Just a few thoughts to consider. For some the first few times hiring can be scary so it may take some time for those guys to come around. Your patience will most likely determine if you get their business or not. Secondly, for those that ask sincere questions, and are clear in their communication style, I would focus on them. I rarely have had to have a very long conversation before I was comfortable because I ask pinpointed questions. If the person becomes short or is obtuse with their answers I thank them and move on.
