A topic that comes up 84234584366 times a year, there’s two current threads on the subject from both a provider and client’s perspective. Like others have said, cost of living has gone up. A provider increasing their rate reflects that, I don’t see the issue that’s exactly what they should do. I’m currently in NY for the whole summer, my first extended stay since 2019, and it’s definitely a shock being quoted $350-500/hr by most of the guys I’ve reached out to so far. But that’s the landscape of a post-pandemic society in the USA. It’s going to take time to mentally get “used to” that as long as I continue this fun hobby. In the end people will have fo figure out ways to step their income up even more or get creative and finding guys on other platforms.

Considering it's Toronto, I have to say I'm not shocked. I find the "trolls" here whether it's cruising, sex clubs or bathhouses to be on another level. Sadly there's a certain group of aggressive "trolls" that don't take no for an answer and can completely ruin your moment. You're correct about the etiquette, that's how it should be. I'm guessing you're referring to Nick Kross? we were trying to connect for a session and he also suggested a bathouse but I politely declined for the exact experience you've been through. With my luck the "trolls" would ruin my session.

To answer the title in the thread...can it? Yes. But in my experiences I'd lean more towards that it is. And I find it intensified in the gay community, one where inclusivity is preached a lot. And sadly this is usually the breakdown every time, it's the norm now.

Last week? There's still an active presence of gay men that live in the area. *shrugs*

In NYC there's a bunch but in my opinion the only one worth going to is The Blue Store on 8th Ave and 21st. It's in Chelsea which is a huge gay community and close to the other major ones (Hell's Kitchen and West Village). It's open 24/7 and is generally packed Mon-Fri during the lunch hour (a lot of offices, including Google HQ blocks away) and from the afternoon rush to early evening. On weekends it's busy in pockets from mid-day through the overnight until about 3-4am. Very mixed crowd and I've seen pornstars, jocks, IG fitness guys, construction guys, FedEx and Amazon workers, tourists, just everything. The only issues are the hustlers, the trolls, the odd drugged out person, and the aggressive employees that bang on the door if you don't put money into the video machines. There's 6-8 additional places all along 8th avenue. Rainbow Station directly across the street, Harmony (formerly Blue DVD) on 8th Ave just a few blocks south of The Blue Store, the other Blue Store also on 8th Ave (19 blocks up on W 40th St, quick 5-10 minute train ride), Vishara Video, Gotham City Video, and Jayasara Video also on 8th, but as far as foot traffic those don't compare in my opinion. During the pandemic a GH popped up in the washroom at Hudson River Greenway by 76th street and Riverside Drive. It turned the place into a must go-to but as usual, guys couldn't be discreet so that got closed up though action still happens there. Hope this helps lol.

I've never asked for it but I've definitely been offered 30-minute sessions as an option by a few providers. Some reputable guys, some I'd consider the "Millenial Gen-Z provider" where everything is on the fly and they don't go about the business in the standard professional way. Guess it depends on what you're looking for. Also I recognize over here where I live the "standard" is throw out the door sometimes.
