There is a big difference between personal responsibility and legal culpability. A misunderstood and largely unenforceable law is not going to protect anyone from HIV. If you want to protect yourself, forget about the law and educate yourself on the science.

Not entirely true. Here is a synopsis of California law:
 
To be prosecuted under the law, you would have to do all of the following:

Have anal or vaginal sex. You cannot be prosecuted for oral sex. As to anal and vaginal sex, the law applies equally to men and women; tops and bottoms. The law punishes exposing someone to HIV through these types of sex. Your sexual partner does not have to actually become infected.
Know that you are HIV-positive. You cannot be prosecuted for sex that you had before you knew that you were HIV-positive.
Fail to disclose your HIV status. If you disclose before insertion, you cannot be prosecuted.
Fail to use a condom. Even if you do not disclose, you cannot be prosecuted unless you have "unprotected sex." The law defines "unprotected sex" as failing to use a condom. This means that every inserting penis has to be covered. Even if you are on the receiving end, you have a legal obligation to make sure that your partner wears a condom.
Have the "specific intent" to infect the other person. Most likely, this element will prevent the statute from being used to harass people living with HIV. To be prosecuted, you have to engage in the sexual activity with the specific intention of infecting the other person with HIV. Just knowing that you had HIV when you had sex will not be enough. The law explicitly states that: "Evidence that the person had knowledge of his or her HIV-positive status, without additional evidence, shall not be sufficient to prove specific intent."

I can't recall reading a post where a poster got mad that another poster mentioned the California state law. There are folks who do not like the law, however.

No one has said you are responsible for your own health so that someone else does not have to feel guilty.
Acquiring the HIV virus does not equate to having AIDS. That was proven 20 years ago.

 

This statement is incorrect. Willful exposure is not considered assault with a deadly weapon and the punishment is not up to 20 years in jail. Here's a chart from a paper published by the Williams Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles in 2015:

Perhaps I am the only one but I am not sure what the purpose of fraternities/sororities are. It seems in a way that it is just an extension of high school cliques and the ability of some to exclude others. And, it appears, there is seldom anyone on site that could monitor what goes on and that the members act maturely and without hazard to others. I really do believe students should be housed in dormitories or if they want to be housed outside the school system then they have to go through a landlord. Some things should just pass on.

I loved the movie. If the series is half as good I'll be a fan.

My man and I were camping and we filled up a little travel container with lube. Well, the lube was silicone and so was the container and it caused a chemical reaction that turned the lube to thick, unusable goo. We refused to let that keep us from fucking in the woods, so we used Dr Bronners Peppermint Soap. I strongly recommend talking to your doctor about PreP. You can start on it, see how you like it and if you have any side effects, and still keep using condoms until, if ever, you feel completely comfortable with giving them up. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing thing. PreP has been shown to be very effective in stopping transmission of HIV.

Absent social media, this would've just been a normal operating day for United Airlines. But social media was there to record this event, not unlike the brutal and often illegal events that are occurring all across our nation with people in authority. One would have to believe that in the day and age which we live in that United airlines would have been smart enough to realize that every single passenger on that aircraft was potentially recording every moment and movement that they made during this situation and would have chosen a better resolution to all of this. This is about their culture as a company.
 
Whatever you might think of the doctor and his past, for me it's Irrrelevant because if brutality is the accepted resolve to these type situations based upon who we are than all of us should publicly disclose every single thing we've ever done in our past so that it can never be used against us when we find ourselves being dragged down the aisle of an airliner or it's horrific equivalent.
