This topic is very interesting to me, as tipping properly (in any situation where it may be warranted) seems to be a bit of an art.
 
I have grown to look at tipping as a means to reward a service provider for a job well done, especially when they are working on the payroll of someone else (i.e. hotel employees or restaurant servers). Just how much, and how frequently is where the art comes into play (do you tip the doorman at a fancy hotel just once, even if you see him 20 times during your stay?). Then factor in local customs depending which country you may be traveling to, and it quickly gets very complicated.
 
In the case of an escort, I feel like they are setting their own rate, and don't rely on anybody to collect their money for them and pay them a portion... so I am always a little uncomfortable if there may be an expectation for something beyond the rate.
