Don't know that I'm either, but I would hope that even a friend could tell you when you're fucking up.

    I wasn't aware.

    I definitely don't know that.

Look, I'm eager to see any new site succeed. I have to admit I'm put off by the co-opting of the rentboy name, but that did get you guys noticed. Unfortunately, I think you got that notice a bit before you were ready for prime time. And I wonder if these subsequent missteps seem to be taking away from the needed task of fine tuning the site. And I maintain that the judgement calls leave me leery.

This. Posting ads without the escorts' consent doesn't just show lack of judgment. It shows that the site is willing to put its own growth ahead of industry members' autonomy and control over their information online.

Frankly, that should scare providers and clients alike. I too want you guys to succeed, but defending this practice when the problems with it are respectfully brought up seems hard to get past.

(It's also an incredibly misleading way to advertise -- implying that some providers have decided to trust you and use your services, when in fact they have not.)

Wow, the operators of this site seem tone deaf to some really disturbing practices. Extorting free sessions under the guise of a review, using an insecure infrastructure, and posting ads without the escorts' consent all show a true lack of judgement. I'm sort of afraid to see what comes out next.

Thank you... Once I flew out to spend a night with a gentleman there but otherwise never considered to freelance and meet clients there. I will put it on my list next time I get to NYC....

@Kevin Slater It's your choice to drop 540 a month to be PLATINUM FIRST PAGE in the LARGEST ESCORT-DRIVEN CITY IN THE WORLD. I often find no direct correlation between amount of money spent / placement on the pages, and work received- the quality people who are going to hire quality escorts will go all the way to page 10, doing their due diligence to find the right guy.

We mere PEASANTS who get by with 'Gold Ads', pay less than 100 a month, and somehow have no problem staying busy.

I don't bother doing a SPREADSHEET for my $80 a month RENTMEN expense that floats my entire boat. I just fucking pay it and move on. #ANOTHERFACT #ANDTHISONEISASTRUEASMYFIRST ONE

I'm not the most trusting person out there, so perhaps I'm alone in this, but I am only feeling more uneasy now.

"Love for everyone" -- except your former colleagues. People don't usually "hate" each other just because their opinions "differ" -- let alone publicly criticizing their colleagues on the internet years after they are no longer working together. This is not the kind of thing that kicks a new business off to a good start. I have no idea what the whole story is, but this "secret" doesn't give me confidence.

No doubt this is intended to be a nice gesture -- and I can't think of anyone more deserving of it -- but, nonetheless, this seems sort of emblematic of the problems with this review/verification system, where providers are handled opaquely (and, inevitably, inconsistently), at the discretion of the site operators.

    Anyway.

I've not heard anyone express a fondness for a monopolized, single-provider niche for listing services
M4RN, Hourboy, BackPage and others are slowly evaporating or being hobbled, solidifying that single-provider position in the listing service marketplace
Presumably both clients and providers benefit from a competing listing service, if for no other reason than to encourage RM to be responsive & affordable

Therefore, it would seem to be in the best interests of everyone who cared to see any competitor thrive, even if it is flawed.
Any critically-flawed business model will inevitably fail but if the demand for a service persists then another will appear in the marketplace - if you don't like it then simply wait with benign disregard for this to occur.

It seems to me that the most constructive step forward for everyone who cares is to give constructive feedback, make suggestions, sacrifice a goat, or whatever, for any RM competitor.

It's nothing personal; it's just business.

It's Vin Marco. Great guy... very affectionate. Search the forum for posts. He used to be a member but he no longer posts/participates. I used to see him 3-4 times a year for overnights/weekends until a job schedule shift made that nearly impossible.

FYI- offer a service for free for 6 months to a year, get people hooked/used to it, then introduce 19.95, then 39.95 then 89.95 rates; that's what Rentboy surely has in store for you. It's called taking someone to 'Training School'- how they get naive people hooked on drugs, then they're in for the long haul.

So let me get this straight...Secret Shopper is here 'schilling' for Rentboy.pro? Such a double standard, if the boys from Rentmen.Eu were on here, you'd be jumping all down their throats.

For an escort that has been involved in the business 8-9 years, let me fill in some of the new advertisers on the board as the the 'generosity' of Rentboy.com, and why you shouldn't trust ANY of their progeny.
-They increased their costs to the advertiser 3x over the period during which I was advertising with them. A city like Providence RI went from 19.95 to 29.95 to 39.95 to 49.95. Do you want to see comparable inflation rates for the US Economy during '08-'13, or do you think you might have been GOUGING a little?

-Each ad was only applicable to ONE CITY, and when you went to change it, there was often a fee difference involved. Switching Providence to NY(larger city), incurred additional costs, and when you switched it back to a smaller city, it kept you at the higher price.

-For touring escorts, you NEED to have ads up in multiple cities ahead of time- with the Rentboy model, I was out 200-300 a month for ads, and dealing with customer service was not always a treat. They had some good people, don't get me wrong, but most weren't altogether too nice. It was all about the $$$.

Now, with the Rentmen.Eu model- as a gold or platinum escort, you get your main city plus SIX travel cities, all at one cost. I don't know about any of the other advertisers on here...but between interaction with Daddy's Forum users, and clients who just peruse RentMen....I couldn't fit more people in if I tried. It's the perfect balance.

Furthermore, I can personally vouch for one of the people that works over at Rentmen- he used to answer my phones and emails. He's discrete, honest to a fucking T, and actually cares about keeping RIP OFF FAKE ESCORTS off of their service.

If all you guys think a free service out there that has a track record of upping their price, offering less, and doing NOTHING to protect your personal information is the way to go- then there's the door! BYE!

RentMen has been the best thing to happen to this industry in the past 10 years, anyone is a fool to think otherwise. #FACT

I am learning more info as this thread progress. @Boomxyz is being honest, as much as he can. There has been a departure from the team who started the project. The partners still on board have different visions about the future of the website. The apparent contradictions in @Boomxyz posts have to do with that.

I think "within a certain range" is the key part here. Travel time adds up pretty quickly, and if you happen to be located in an out-of-the-way location, that's not their fault any more than their lack of hosting ability is your fault.

It is a totally understandable and respectable business model to operate this way. What would not be understandable, and in fact would give me serious concerns about trusting the site, would be presenting the site as if there are no plans to monetize the site in the future if everyone knows it will likely happen.

@Boomxyz has given the impression of "always free" in this thread. What we don't know is if it is totally genuine, or if there is the above "catch." So, maybe let's just ask directly. Do you really mean "always free" or do you just mean "free for now"? If the latter, we are still on board, just maybe consider dialing back your rhetoric a little.

It is clearly spelled in the FAQ (last time I read them a couple of months ago) that the site will turn into charging to the escorts in some moment. It is a common business model in start ups, you start offering a service for free, in the process adjusting your site to your market needs, and once you grew enough you start monetizing.
So dear friends from Rentboy.pro, let's be completely honest and share that the volunteer and vocational work is just the beginning, the site will become a commercial enterprise.

I am actually planning to do something similar with my blog. I started it just like a hobby to have fun, then found out there is an unexpected interest and potential market. So I just changed my original plans recently. I am planning to keep growing a few months more as an open blog to then add more services and charge a fee. The plan is that in some moment in the second half of this year you will have to pay a very moderate monthly fee to full access to reviews and media (pictures, interviews, and amateur home made porn).

Depends. Are they doing actual classical psychoanalysis with you (which is in many ways the epitome of non-directive therapy), or are they doing analytically-informed psychotherapy? If the former, you're unlikely to get homework no matter how you ask for it, and they definitely won't define goals for you. If the latter, you could probably just ask for it directly.

"Homework" as a term, and where you have a specific assignment to practice a specific skill, is pretty much a CBT thing. If you want it, ask for it; but I wouldn't expect most psychotherapists to automatically "assign" it every week and definitely wouldn't discount a therapist because they don't. Similarly, there may be a limit to how "smart" your goals can be on day one. Whether you and your therapist set very specific goals (and then update them as needed), or start with a more general, exploratory attitude before identifying what is truly at the heart of things for you, is a question of style and preference as much as anything.
