  1. Do you guys tell each other your real names during these meet-ups, or do you answer to your user-names from here? o_O (because that would be kind of weird.. to me)

Ewwwwwwwwwww Good Question ---- Or Do some of use nom-d'plumes?

Nice to Meet You Anthony Weiner and You former Senator Larry Craig. Senator Marco Rubio will

you be part of the Drag Show this Year?

  2. Three years ago (during a particularly harrowing holiday season) I gave myself the goal of being happily hitched by 2018.

Yep, well, that one crept up on me.

Needing a fun distraction in my life leads me to ask...you hear about the proverbial mail order bride, but does the same thing exist for gay guys? Ideally I would find a cute Canadian or English guy to hitch up with and exchange citizenship with, but I think I could be pretty happy with a sweet guy wanting to live in the US and take me along with the package deal :)

If you find info or an Agency id explote

  3. "addition to my full-time job I remodeled and renovated multi-unit homes and commercial space in different Center City neighborhoods and continued to do so until 2015 when my health restricted my activities. As such I have a lot of experience with HUD/PFHA/Philly L&I/Housing Authority/Neighborhood Associations and the Zoning Board.

And WILLIAMM if you have specific questions about admission to Anderson House I suggest you contact them directly -- I included the link"

@Bearofdistinction, I am confused. In what capacity did you do so much remodeling and renovation? But never with the Redevelopment Authority, Philadelphia Housing Development Corp. or the lead agency a year or two ago, The Office of Housing and Community Development? Few people want to deal with PHA, so it's red flag.

Also, the Philadelphia Gay News is something of a joke because it has supported a few candidates far removed from the gay community.

I believe it's only fair to point out the gay community is divided, with Bill Way and John Anderson universally recognized as heroes, but not the publisher of The Philadelphia Gay News.

I did not say that I was Dan Keating - I financed my first project myself a 2 unit home from there I moved up to larger projects

sometimes leveraging/sometimes working with an investor/sometimes working with HUD or FHA. At times I had to deal with L&I and the ZBA along with Neighborhood Association and Council Offices.

Some people like Marc Segal the PGN Owner/Publisher - Others do not -- There are politics in any active gay community in the country.

  4. The typical Philadelphia household earns only $41,233 a year, well below the statewide median income of $55,702. Goods and services are about 12% more expensive in Philadelphia than they are nationwide, and after adjusting for the city’s relatively high cost of living, the median income in Philadelphia is only about $41,200, one of the lowest of any U.S. city. Philadelphia’s status as one of the worst cities to live in is underscored by the city’s high poverty rate. More than one in four city residents live below the poverty line, well above the 14.7% U.S. poverty rate.

Philadelphia is also a relatively dangerous city. There were 1,029 violent crimes in the city for every 100,000 residents in 2015, nearly three times the violent crime rate nationwide.

I worked in Philly for one year in the mid 1990's. That was enough time for me to figure out that I never want to live there again. If you love it, good for you. De gustibus non est disputandum

JAYCEEKY -- To bad you did not stick around to be part of the renaissance - I moved back to Philly from Florida in the mid-90's and Mayor Rendell was turning the City around including openly supporting the Gayborhood and the Gay community and asking us publicly to keep our homes and businesses here and promising us a seat at the table and a voice at the table as the City revitalized and laws to protect our rights - and he kept his word. And when he ran successfully for Governor he bragged about his support for the LGBT Community in places referred to as Pennsyiltucky. and told those voters I will work for your community just like I did for that community and keep my word to you just as I did to communities in Philly. He won in two consecutive landslides.

In addition to my full-time job I remodeled and renovated multi-unit homes and commercial space in different Center City neighborhoods and continued to do so until 2015 when my health restricted my activities. As such I have a lot of experience with HUD/PFHA/Philly L&I/Housing Authority/Neighborhood Associations and the Zoning Board.

I have friends from NYC and SF and Florida who were original founders and workers in the LGBT movement who were living in squalor having been priced out of the neighborhoods they helped make possible --- who are now living in the Anderson House Apartments with the quality, dignity and respect they and we all deserve.

Some of the other tenants only came out after they moved in - being free of fear of losing jobs/family/etc for the first time in their lives.

Their are excellent articles in The New York Times and The Philadelphia Gay News archives on the original tenants.

  5. Yes, I am certainly aware of the Senior Living Community. But, could you describe how residents were selected? Wasn't there federal money involved? If so, there had to be more complicated selection of tenants than you mention.

Yes this was a public/private project involving the city/state and feds -- there are minimum and maximum income restrictions and overall asset limits.

See the website and the application process and ph # for questions

  6. So, to the residents and frequent visitors to Philadelphia. What is your favorite neighborhood and why? Cheers!

    :)

LnD let me know more about what is important to you and what you are looking for. Feel Free to PM Me!

  7. As a former inhabitant of Filthadelphia I would vote for Rittenhouse Square. City bustle and sometimes cruisy. The rest of Philly is best viewed from one's rear-view mirror.

Since you obviously have no appreciation for history, architecture, world class museums, amazing dining, a renowned Orchestra, top universities, more outdoor art than any other US City, bike and car share programs, dedicated bike lanes and paths, magnificent parks and squares spread across the city,

a walkable city, with reasonable housing costs and property taxes, and top professional and collegiate sports, jazz cafes and casino gambling -- we won't miss you at all - BYE-BYE.

I nearly forgot to mention a nationally respected Prize-Winning LGBT Commmunity Newspaper and the nations 2nd affordable LGBT Friendly Senior Living Community - located in the Gayborhood, which currently provides housing for the original leaders of the LGBT communities who sacrificed careers, family and friends to COME OUT and fight for the rights we enjoy today.

Y'all head on back to Wal-Mart World!

  8. I find it interesting that some don't remember their first time.

I was 14-15 but easily passed for 18 - Cut Classes and went to small adult cinema with a sign out front that said "ALL MALE" there was a balcony with old couches - and an 18-20 yo all-American boy sailor and I think we played for several hours/days . . . ahhhhhhhhhhh

Long before AIDS he taught me about why using condoms for anal was important something he learned in his travel to exotic places asses and faces.

  9. Just to keep you up to date. Just booked two rooms poolside at Canyon Club. The reservationist indicated that there was only a choice of three rooms. I am not sure if he meant on that level or in the hotel in general. In either case, 7 months out and the rooms at this site are leaving quickly. IF you are considering staying at the Canyon Club, the unofficial home of this Palm Springs weekend, I would put a refundable deposit down. Also, ask for the fourth night free option since they were a bit reluctant to give it to me until I mentioned that I had stayed there before and that friends told me about this option. See you in April.

AS FOR CANYON CLUB --- I have been to PS for other events at Canyon Club but found my self closed out of the host hotel. Now never as much fun being off-site but was in crawling distance of the pool/tub/playroom/maze/gardens . . .

I stay right across Indian Creek Drive (Directly Across from CCs back entrance). The Seven Springs Inn and Suites -- Reasonable Rates - Very Clean -- Large room with Full Jacuzzi Bath and Shower -- 3 Pools - Very Gay Friendly - Easy Parking ---

Kids -- Wish I could join you this year I do love PS - But even with offers of "help with schlepping my fat ass around town" I cant seem to schleep my delightfully robust ass out of Philly ---

Have Fun -- Send Dirty Pics!

  10. I'm booked at INNdulge and looking forward to the event as well.

Note - the Casa Ocotillo, www.casaocotillo.com - This property is now a private home and is no longer being operated as an accommodation.

Otherwise, the list above is a great help in finding accommodations. Also, for those of you who may be flying in, PSP airport may be expensive, you may want to consider ONT, SNA, LAX as alternative gateways. Depending on your day/time of your arrival driving from SNA or LAX may be challenging.

I did find a connecting flight from PHX to PSP that was reasonable and flying into PHX is relatively affordable.

Also --- Check Days Times == AMTRAK goes from LA to PS 2-3 times a week. No traffic or tension and the rental car company met me with a car at the PS platform (not really a station). I flew into LAX -- Then flew out of PSP - Rental Car Company Right to the Luggage Check-in at the Airport when ready to leave. Also There is a Bus from LAX which is Express to the Train Station -- Train Fares to PSP started under $20 bucks ---

ALL - Considered Easier - Faster - Less Time and Less $$ than a flight with a layover (PHX/DEN/HOU) into Palm Spring and less than flight into LAX then connect to PSP. I took a 4pm train on a Friday -- and got to laugh at the folks stuck on the 110 while I am sipping a cocktail and watching an HBO Movie on the free wifi!

  11. So sorry to add my opinion.

He will go wild -- become instantly hard again and face/ass fuck you another load!

  12. Bette Davis in anyt

Not sexual, as there was never any physical attraction. I just was kind of spellbound, for lack of a better word. I would watch anything she was in. There was a fascination, as there has been one growing this year for Agnetha, as I've been on a real ABBA kick all year.
