  1. Purplekow, as you may know, he looks damn good in his baseball uniform! He was in Boston last year when the Phillies played the Red Sox (interleague series) and I had seats near the visitors dugout. Had to remember that the action was on the field.
  2. I used to stay (and mourn its loss) at the nearby Windamar. I visited Worthington a few times for Scruff & Grndr hookups. Noticed everyone at the pool wore suits (often Speedos). Is that the norm?
  3. I'm thinking of going somewhere for Columbus Day weekend, October 12 -14. MAL takes place in DC over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, IML in Chicago over Labor Day. Is any city known for a gay event over Columbus Day weekend? Nothing special happens in New England and it isn't yet cold enough to have to escape to Florida.

Presently in Boston. Does anyone have any experience?
  6. I submitted a review August 21 for Allen, Mister-Mister on RM. Haven't received heard anything back or seen it yet. Is that normal procedure? Thanks
  7. I didn’t receive much input and it may be partially explained by my observation that Ogunquit is much straighter than when I last visited 7 or 8 years ago. The Front Porch piano bar is now all straight. The crowd at Maine Street, the only gay bar is mixed. It is still gay friendly but take out the rainbow flags from the shops and it’s another quaint Maine town. Still lovely by the way, we’re glad we came.
  8. The biggest risk/adventure I took was booking Sherman Mass before traveling to California. I had however, met him at the Daddy’s brunch in DC in January. We also talked a few times afterwards. It was a bet that paid off as I thoroughly enjoyed his company and the sex. I also realize that I may have been lucky. If you want to gamble it’s probably best to go with someone well known and well reviewed.
  9. After a couple of cancelled trips he finally made it here. We connected and I am delighted. I sent Daddy’s a review. His name there is Allen.

    Hollow words?

Read "The Matriarch", by Susan Page, her biography of Barbara Bush. She was a strident advocate for LGBT rights way before it was fashionable and was the first and ONLY one to call attention to AIDS.
  11. The survey should have differentiated between gay and straight men. When I had a Cape Cod beach house straight guests would use one towel for the weekend. They were clean when using it and hung it on the door or outside line to dry between uses. My gay guests left such large piles of used towels we used to hide half our linen closet supply. By this scientific method of extrapolation my hypothesis is that gay men were not among the multi-day cohort!
  12. I cannot see the benefit or allure of inhaling toxic substances. Does it make sense to eat healthy, work out and then inhale substances that are variously listed as room deodorizers or leather cleaners?
  13. I'm visiting Ogunquit next weekend (8/24, 25). Haven't been there in several years. If any members are regulars or have visited recently I welcome any tips or advice you have to offer.
  14. LaffingBear's comment about Twin Peaks caused a chuckle. It also points out that older gays do enjoy meeting, even if just occasionally, in a bar. In the nineties there was bar in Boston called Napolean's. It was small and quirky with pictures and busts of Napoleon. It featured a piano bar and an older crowd. Now that I am the demographic of their patrons I wish it was still there. Maybe there is niche for a market presently overlooked.
  15. One reason I like Fort Lauderdale is that it still has a lively bar scene. It may have to do with the higher average age, gays for whom the bars were places we could relax and meet. The high cost of space in urban areas and the the rise of apps like grindr & scruff have changed Boston & Providence.
  16. Tell him to visit Boston!
  17. Per ad arrives Boston today. I texted yesterday. Hoping we meet, will report
  18. I had a very positive experience with him in Boston last fall or winter. Hope he returns.
  19. Maybe he’s enrolling at Notre Dame. Do they have a film school?
  20. There is no defending, especially in today’s culture, using one’s power (& celebrity carries a degree of power, especially in show business) to prey on the vulnerable. On the other hand, as a culture, have we abandoned the concept of redemption? Certainly time needs to pass first but should Bill Cosby, Kevin Spacey and others get a Soviet-style erasure from history or have an opportunity to apologize, maybe make some public amends and be judged on the totality of their lives? If I knew the answer I’d share it. What do others think?
  21. It's certainly a matter of taste but I fall into the too much is too much camp. I recall a torso picture of David Beckham with his tattoos and alongside was a photoshopped picture without them. I liked the latter.
  22. One of the best. Start with a massage and then....
  23. I am defiantly not politically correct. I don't like being told that certain thoughts, opinions or preferences are no longer valid. Having said that, I honestly have no preference where someone falls on the effeminate/butch scale. Some play up and some play off how they're perceived for a laugh with friends. There are more than a few things I find appealing or appalling but whether you swish or swagger you're OK with me.
  24. I watched the first episode. I begin with the premise that it can't be the same, too much has changed since the first series aired. However, it will have to be beyond awful for me to not stay with it. I cherish the memory of watching the original series and and talking about it with straight and gay friends.
