Isn’t this the legit definition of “escort,” to accompany someone, usually to events?

An escort told me a story about going to a party as a boyfriend. The client had told all his friends about his new lover and was eager to show him off. When they arrived at the party the escort laughed to himself because he was in a room filled with past clients, some of which he had seen that same year. The client du jour smiled as he introduced his boyfriend around the room. As the evening wore on all the past clients would quietly tell the escort "please don't let others know we've seen each other." It turned out to be a great farce, but everyone was nice about it and didn't try to ruin the evening of the happy present client, so proud of his "new boyfriend." 
Interesting and funny story.

Early on, I was hired to go to events (weddings, group vacations, company retreats, etc) with clients as their plus-one, usually 'boyfriend'
It's just a part of the business.  Some of them turned into long term clients, some not.
We're sometimes asked to 'play a role,' and I'm fine with that.

I read in the news reports that Florida is one state where felons are treated harshly. Moving from New York to Florida and establishing your residence there can backfire if you contemplate committing a felony somewhere in the country and happen to get convicted. 

And THIS is the type of shady, underhanded responses that turns people off about the gay community. 
 
I could think of a few things you could work on. Your commentary was unwarranted and unnecessary, and cowardly. 
 
This guy is sharing a terrible experience and being vulnerable in a forum where people are supposed to treat each other with a sense of support and kindness, and you just couldn’t help yourself. You had to smear this discussion thread with snarky, stank shade.

They’ll usually use the same name on their Onlyfans as on their advertising for hire if they are for hire. The Onlyfans serves as a shop window. Also they’ll have a Twitter profile associated with their Onlyfans and that often has the links to all their socials (Instagram etc) which would include their RM or other websites if they are for hire. 
However, I know quite a few guys who I’ve worked with either seeing clients or making films, who started out seeing clients and then moved on to doing Onlyfans. Some of them make so much more money on Onlyfans (and travel all the time) that it’s not worth their time seeing clients any more so they cancelled their RM advert and don’t bother advertising for clients in that way. They get clients contacting them directly, are selective and charge a much higher rate. 
 

IMO, all of providers and we as clients (and yes i am generalising here) lie. Some are of insignificant matters some are not. To the extent said lie is without malice, cause no harms and simply to not disclose certain personal aspect, i see no issues.
Whilst the act of sex is inately intimate, one not necessarily comfortable to be all open, close and personal.

Part of the rationale for providers is service on demand. If a straight or bi  provider claims they can deliver regardless of to whom, they’re as qualified as anyone else.
The question for me isn’t are you gay or not, but can you provide an experience I want once we confirm terms. Once a provider - gay bi or whatever - starts asking for photo, says “it depends” for some services, I strike them off any consideration as they aren’t hiding they likely can’t. Then we can avoid the runaround where they expect payment without delivering.
