  1. When I first moved to Chicago in the late 80's, I was shocked to learn that some of the banks were closed on Wednesday. Talman was one of them. For a long time, car dealers in Detroit were closed both Saturday and Sunday. During the week, they closed at 6pm, except for Tuesday and Thursday, open till 9pm.
  2. You're correct about the 7/11 name. As a kid, I remember they opened a "super market" near our house. Eventually put the small "grocery store" (it only had 2 check-out lanes) out of business. I remember going to the super market in the evening with my mother. I had to go to help carry the bags because she never learned to drive. I'd guess the super market closed around 9pm. I don't remember going to the grocery store in the evening, but I still remember more about it, like what a great deli counter it had, and better baked goods.
  3. He used to go by Danielzx.
  4. LOL. There's a voyeur (to one extent or another) in all of us.

Sure, rub it in (and not in a good way). +1. That I got from his emails, and we were just discussing our meeting. He was so kind, charming and welcoming. A goal of mine for 2018.

A big regret for me is not seeing him last year. Had an appointment booked almost a month in advance. He arrived in the US on a Friday, texted me to confirm our appointment the following Tuesday. I unfortunately, had just caught a cold, so I told him I thought it better to cancel then, rather that wait, and possibly have to cancel closer in. Was right for me to do as I was no better that next week. Almost a year later, I'm still very disappointed I wasn't able to meet him. Just by his email communication alone, I think he's a great guy.
  7. On a positive note, when very young, I was without a job for a few months, and the savings were being depleted, tough to scrape up cash just to put gas in the car. V day around the corner, called a couple of florists, all jumped at the chance of hiring me to deliver that day. Over $100 for about 6 hours of my time back in the early 80's was good money when I needed it.
  8. A bit of a difference from the Finnish saunas in the remote areas I've visited. Rocks, on which water is tossed for steam, are out in the open, and the cold plunge is a jump in the lake outside. Beers are had on the liar's bench outside of the sauna house. It's always been a family experience. I've taken saunas with my father and brothers. Other times, when visiting relatives, with uncles, and the boyfriend of a cousin. At all saunas I've taken, the men were freely naked.
  9. Don't assign yourself to any category. There are those of us who have enjoyed intimacy with both a man and a woman . For me, it's been solely with one at any period of time. If I've learned anything in my 60 years on this planet, we're all a work in progress.
  10. For me, my first meeting, like many, was driven by his reputation. However, I would have not pursued a second meeting if not for his acceptance, and enthusiasm for someone so opposite from him (age, body type, experience, etc.). He's truly accepting, and a nice guy. Down to earth, and someone to sit and have a beer with him.
  11. I worked there some years ago. It was fascinating the diversity of people who came to visit that building. People from every walk of life, and every corner of the world. Truly amazing. Another website: http://theskydeck.com/
  12. Willis Tower Ledge Chicago
  13. Have to go back to the old days, pop a Xanax, and chase it with a glass of chardonnay. Will get you through any flight.
  14. I'm always a little nervous when I see them on a plane. Not because I dislike them, but what if while walking to the lav, and just touching the seat back for support, or a little bump causes you to lean into or grab the seat of the person with the "support" animal, and it goes to the master's defense.
  15. Poipu is the sunny side of the island. Nice beaches.
  16. I see it's Tuesday in Canberra now. Happy birthday a day late.
  17. If driving into Chicago from the burbs, yes. However, I once canceled 4 hours in advance when travel times on a holiday weekend were already up to 3 hours. Never would have made it in time for our appointment.
  18. Not to worry. For a few years now, I've been walking into rooms in my house, only to stop and try and figure out why I went in there. Sometimes takes me a couple times back into the room to remember.
  19. It's a record player that played 45 rpm records (in the picture). Most automakers offered it as an option in the early 60's, perhaps even the very late 50's.
  20. My experience too. That's why..... I don't leave home without it. Last time (2 years ago) I disputed a charge on my statement for cab in Miami, the return from my hotel back to the airport, which are flat fees. It was double the charge. They took it off, and I never saw a new charge for the correct fare on my statement.
  21. Hotel may be a franchise, so you may have to go up the chain of command with that company, not Hilton to get resolution.
  22. This guy? https://rent.men/MrRickyNashville
  23. My experience, in California, Hawaii, and Florida, they don't know how to clean a car, especially the inside of a windshield. No longer shop their rates.
  24. Always liked the show (Murphy Brown). They just started showing reruns on Antenna TV.
