I remember Uncle Charlie's. The old one on Greenwich was more of a hook up spot for 20 to 30 somethings than a place for intelligent conversation. I also didn't know that the name still survives. Inflation is always blamed on politics...but LOTS of factors, come into play. Inflation from 2019 to 2024 has increased all prices 20% to 25%. So to sell for the same value you definitely need to charge $1.25 not $1.00 or your profits will dwindle as your expenses increase.

I suppose that's a matter of what YOU call "comfortable". A salary of $114K doesn't get you much in NYC. If you're happy living in Queens, eating fast food and making a trip to Disneyland once a year...I suppose you'd be happy. I just don't get this attitude about pricing. If I want a burger in NYC I would usually pay $15 to $16 for a good one. Yes. First you need to separate facts from opinions. Facebook routinely filters out "inconvenient facts" as misinformation. Allowng anyone to manage your information is historically, a dangerous game.

What you're missing in the analysis is that there are several areas of NYC that are very poor and others that are pretty low-income working class neighborhoods. A handsome and talented provider is not hanging around NYC so he can live in a ghetto next to a meth lab. So this statistic is meaningless. To live decently in NYC you need to take home a MINIMUM of $1500 a week...or $300 a day Monday thru. Friday. So if you're fucking one client per day then $300 is your baseline. You can't compare this "hourly rate" to another job becasure you're not working 8 hours a day, taking dick.

In the end, it has to comply with your own ethical/emotonal landscape. I don't think he was asking too much as a general rule. Escorting is often about providing a fantasy for someone. Just that this particular situation is pushing a button for you, personally. But it's your button, so he needs to respect your limits.

Although I admire your decision to NOT be in a situation where you need to lie to people I would also offer a bit of empathy toward your client who may be in a situation where showing off a hot boyfriend to his compatriots is important. He's clearly sad and needy. I think the situation is unfortunate and maybe you could have bent the rules a bit for him to have his fantasy. Just a thought.
