The person that applied to dance at Johnson's was Nathan Summers aka Lux Filler, who decided to throw a public temper tantrum when Matt rejected him, and told him that Johnson's only hires "the best".

From what I'm hearing the plans were in the preliminary stages, and initial discussions were still being made. No concrete plans were set. But Matt was not the person that ever said they were taking over the Berlin location. If you scroll through this thread, it was always speculation. The only thing Matt did was confirm he was planning on opening in Chicago and was looking for talent. He may have put the cart before the horse by saying he was opening this month, but there was never confirmation of venue or neighborhood.
He was in talks with the couple that are planning on buying the venue, per the article.
With that said, these activists are very witch-hunty. I suspect they never even bothered to talk to him about their reservations. They made quite a few libelous/slanderous claims about him, and decided to essentially cancel him because he "may be this or that." This all seems very personal, and I suspect there is more to the story.
Regardless of the behind-the-scenes stage and plans for the venue, the fact that these guys were able to shut down any prospects so easily is troubling

Actually, Johnson's Ft Lauderdale (Wilton Manors) does exactly this.  The ONLY negative reviews they received are from women who are turned away because they don't have enough men in their group (must be one man escorting every woman, per Johnson's rules), and must instead go to the plethora of male strip clubs in town that cater to women.
That is part of the many small details that add up to make Johnson's the most enjoyable Gay Men's Speakeasy in South Florida.

No, and I'm glad to hear that Johnsons didn't.  As the Adonis guys once said on a webcam show, they have a brand, and their customers expect a certain "caliber" of dancer at their establishment.
If an applicant has a meltdown after getting turned down, then that's the price of doing business.  It's not Matt's fault that this guy got way too many participation trophies in his childhood.

The Ft. Lauderdale & Tampa Johnsons don't have either. Curtains in the lap dance booths remain open to the public & customers are frequently looking in. Most dancers wear briefs on stage, while a few might wear a jock strap or thong.

The Community is silly.  Johnson's is one of the best neighbors a business could ask for.  It draws a crowd with lots of money who aren't as obnoxious as night club patrons.  Johnson's staff does an excellent job of manning parking, security, and noise.  From the outside of their business, you can't see any lights o hear any music or noise.

I have seriously been looking at moving to Chicago and Ft Lauderdale when I retire in four years, spending  summers in Chicago and winters in Fort Lauderdale.  But the one thing that was keeping me from becoming too firm on that plan was the lack of gay strip clubs with lap dances in Chicago.  This is good news for me!

I can't wait for Johnson's Chicago to open!  Their Florida locations are currently the best strip club for homosexual men in the U.S. in my opinion.  And their policy of restricting female patrons preserves a safe space for homosexual men to be themselves, without the attention and behavior of women which they can get in the other 99% of bars in this country.  Once Johnson's opens, it will be a success and a tax and business generator for the neighborhood.
