Some people are funny about this. There is a guy who I was seeing twice a week for a couple of months this summer and we got to know each other fairly well and I was always generous with a tip before leaving. However, unless I preemptively dropped the envelope on the table before we got comfortable he always reminded me with "let's get the money part taken care of and out of the way so we can have fun". I never asked but I assume he had had some bad experiences... who knows.

His schedule shows a visit to this part of the hundred acre wood so it’s no longer theoretical to me. Forgetting all the commentary about rate, hair, etc. and noting the all-positive reviews, it seems like there are nothing but positive comments from anyone who’s actually met him. Have I missed any experiential information?

There’s something very weird about this story. The instrument hasn’t been presented for payment and the notion that the payor is unable to void it seems very weird. If this were the case then it is the equivalent of shipping gold bullion. (Also, everyone involved should have insisted on a wire transfer and there’s no mention of an attorney being retained - an obvious first step.) I suspect there is more to this story.

Has anyone met the young gentleman who has any impressions to share?
-
Ask in advance about anything that is important to you. There’s a gentleman who I was very interested in and, in the course of scheduling an appointment, I mentioned that kissing was important to me. He said something like “I will kiss but but not, like, the whole time.” That suggested to me that any kissing would be reluctant and I politely thanked him for his trouble. Kissing seems like an integral part of anything that could be termed a BFE

Ask her to write up a treatment plan- it’s a standard process - and take it to another dentist for a consult.

What Are You Listening To These Days?

What she said. Attempt market timing at your own peril. Don't buy anything you don't understand. Think in terms of the triangle - as you age the wider the base of your triangle should be. Lottery tickets and BTC's are at the tip of my triangle... they're fun like cotton candy.

Alas, he’s back in Prague now. I asked him to let me know if he plans to come early back to the US.

What has your experience been with this?
+ Keith30309 replied to Cannon's topic in Questions About Hiring
I would take advantage of his offer but don’t financially paint yourself into a corner such that you can’t walk away at a moments notice if things suddenly went badly. There are good people out there who sincerely want to help but ultimately you can’t count on anyone but yourself. -
It’s a commonly-cited example of wildly speculative investing but it’s worth a reread. The principle is the same as BTC except accelerated to light-speed with instant trades and everyone carrying a smart device around in their pocket. In 1593 tulips were brought from Turkey and introduced to the Dutch. The novelty of the new flower made it widely sought after and therefore fairly pricey. After a time, the tulips contracted a non-fatal virus known as mosaic, which didn't kill the tulip population but altered them causing "flames" of color to appear upon the petals. The color patterns came in a wide variety, increasing the rarity of an already unique flower. Thus, tulips, which were already selling at a premium, began to rise in price according to how their virus alterations were valued, or desired. Everyone began to deal in bulbs, essentially speculating on the tulip market, which was believed to have no limits. The true bulb buyers (the garden centers of the past) began to fill up inventories for the growing season, depleting the supply further and increasing scarcity and demand. Soon, prices were rising so fast and high that people were trading their land, life savings, and anything else they could liquidate to get more tulip bulbs. Many Dutch persisted in believing they would sell their hoard to hapless and unenlightened foreigners, thereby reaping enormous profits. Somehow, the originally overpriced tulips enjoyed a twenty-fold increase in value - in one month! Needless to say, the prices were not an accurate reflection of the value of a tulip bulb. As it happens in many speculative bubbles, some prudent people decided to sell and crystallize their profits. A domino effect of progressively lower and lower prices took place as everyone tried to sell while not many were buying. The price began to dive, causing people to panic and sell regardless of losses. Dealers refused to honor contracts and people began to realize they traded their homes for a piece of greenery; panic and pandemonium were prevalent throughout the land. The government attempted to step in and halt the crash by offering to honor contracts at 10% of the face value, but then the market plunged even lower, making such restitution impossible. No one emerged unscathed from the crash. Even the people who had locked in their profit by getting out early suffered under the following depression. The effects of the tulip craze left the Dutch very hesitant about speculative investments for quite some time. Investors now can know that it is better to stop and smell the flowers than to stake your future upon one Reference: https://www.investopedia.com/features/crashes/crashes2.asp

if I could short BTC today I would... futures start trading Sunday afternoon but few retail brokers are participating. Hypothetically I’d buy January at 10,000’ish. The next few weeks will be interesting in that there’s not much precedent for what’s going to happen.

Anyway. I've not heard anyone express a fondness for a monopolized, single-provider niche for listing services M4RN, Hourboy, BackPage and others are slowly evaporating or being hobbled, solidifying that single-provider position in the listing service marketplace Presumably both clients and providers benefit from a competing listing service, if for no other reason than to encourage RM to be responsive & affordable Therefore, it would seem to be in the best interests of everyone who cared to see any competitor thrive, even if it is flawed. Any critically-flawed business model will inevitably fail but if the demand for a service persists then another will appear in the marketplace - if you don't like it then simply wait with benign disregard for this to occur. It seems to me that the most constructive step forward for everyone who cares is to give constructive feedback, make suggestions, sacrifice a goat, or whatever, for any RM competitor. It's nothing personal; it's just business.

I have not met him. I reached out to him about an appointment and we exchanged messages... “Cool. May I see a picture of you. I'll send some face photos as well”

An Interesting Conundrum OR What Patients put Doctors through

That’s one way of doing it, I suppose. The second reference case regarding the patient with the false positive tattoo makes me go.... wow. -
I've not met anyone new via the site however I did avoid hiring someone I otherwise would have. There's a RM guy I'd made some future, general plans with - no specific date but I intended to meet him soon. His profile popped up on RB and the pics were pretty different from those on RM - they showed someone a good bit older and looking pretty ragged. I'm sure that the site design will evolve but a couple of quick observations of things to consider: 1) some ability to search based on keywords, attributes, etc., would be helpful, 2) some sorting functionality, 3) the profile information screen could perhaps be redone to condense the information into a single, readable page that is more dense, 4) the information beneath the rates seems a little non-uniform and I'm not quite sure what is supposed to be here (take a look at Sleepyboy.com and the way every possible question has a yes/no/other sort of answer that makes it easy to fully comprehend, and, 5) the location display screen could likewise be made more dense so you don't have to scroll thru so many - there's LOTS of screen room with the 3-across format and allot of helpful information could be included here to make it less laborious to peruse profiles. Most importantly to me is some transparency around what the whole "approved by admin" thing means: <name> is not just a tall muscular handsome stud with great stamina, he is a hard working young man who takes seriously everything he does. If there would be a contest between professional rentboys, <name> would get a Grand Prix. And he is so generous giving his professionalism to renters... His rate is very competitive for <city> area! From the FAQ: "The only reviews will be comments from the site's representatives who will meet you in person or see you by Skype upon YOUR requests... Special verification signs and good comments from the Admin in your profile will increase your business " and " "Star" means participating in "Most active" section, a guy who wants more visibility and who usually has more availability to meet up. "Crown" means "Gold profile", the guys who we value the most, they are usually exclusively represented by us or give special rates for Rentboy.pro users." This is wholly subjective and, being the cynical type, it makes me wonder if this "approval" is purchased, or at least reliable. If they want to convey a sense of transparent impartiality then a uniform set of objective questions would be better: Does he look like his pictures? Are his stats accurate? Were the logistics of start/finish time and place followed thru upon? The sorts of things which two different people would always agree upon. Also, what will be done with the client experiential feedback? I'd really love to see this site succeed. RM is almost a monopoly and that's no good for anyone so this is intended to be wholly constructive.
