This past weekend was my first hotel stay since COVID began. We had to wear masks everywhere, but no problem if you didn't. (I did) Since the thread is about hotel prices, I was shocked at how much a Springhill Suite could cost on a Saturday night- about $212 with taxes, then another $16 for parking. And there's nothing fancy about the place. They weren't very upfront about that parking charge when booking. We had a free night on Sunday. The breakfast was inedible- plastic wrapped garbage. There was no cleaning of the room. The sheets had tears and the shower curtain some mold. One elevator for a six floor building was out of order, leaving one working. So I decided to check my November hotel bookings in New York, where I have 4 free nights and 2 nights booked at the "senior" rate. The total, with tax, is $512. I went searching on Trivago to get comparable rates, and found the very same hotel listing the very same room for $157! 2 nights with tax is $356. So I called to change the reservation, and after all of the automated gibberish was told I would have to wait at least 13 minutes for an agent. I hung up and went back online, canceling the reservation and rebooking it at the lower rate. So, yes rates may be cheaper but you have to keep a close eye.

@MsGuywas here. I assume that he has passed away as he was ill and his posting stopped abruptly. He was one of my favorites.

I think @trilingualdeserves a special mention. He was a moderator here but more so he contributed to all things Brazil and helped many of us through our first trip there.

I posted this because I was amazed at all of the flags. I never expected Gilbert Baker's Rainbow flag would become politically incorrect. It still works just fine for me, and I think others.

At least for those who survive until then!

I always advise posters not to get their medical diagnoses and information related therein from a message board. I see no difference with attorney advice. Frankly if you have the money to donate, you have the money for a lawyer to make sure it goes your way. If not, lower the donation amount!

@RadioRob, clearing the cache worked for me, thank you. But why did my phone ring in a tone that I didn't set, and when no one called me or sent a text, for which I have set other sounds for notification?

Today when I hover, intentionally or not, over a poster name, the box that appears won't go away. I have to go to another page. Also, when hovering over the reaction icons, I can only choose "like." Besides that, my phone just played an annoying tune for no reason at all. Seriously!

@BuffaloKyleThat was my first reaction. I can see where the phrase applies in other situations, but, for me, it does bring up those terror warnings. I just noticed that longtime poster @foxy is now a super moderator! Congratulations!
