  1. There’s a 12-step group for sex addicts.
  2. I have an IG buddy from the UK who lives in Germany - he visits Egypt with a group of friends at Christmas every year. They stay at a resort on the Gulf of Aqaba.
  3. Medicare Advantage is a fabulous deal. I was made at Kaiser for awhile and signed up for AARP F plan through United Healthcare. My monthly premium was abount $100 higher and the prescription coverage didn't work at all for me - it only covered generic, didn't cover asthma inhalers, etc. I take several branded drugs and I use 3 asthma inhalers so prescription drugs were going to cost a fortune. Sure, my cheap Kaiser doctor would probably have written a script that I could filled elsewhere, but I thought that Kaiser should be covering that drug. His declining to prescribe becuase it wasnt medically necessary is like a denial of benefits. That's the big drawback of the staff model HMO - physicians are making decicions about coverage that are ordinarily made by an underwriter for an insurance carrier.
  4. I have a story about that. When I first came down with this autoimmune condition, on either side of my butt, I developed a rash that looked like a circular patch of raised red bumps. I also developed similar patches on my shoulders. This was an obvious symptom of the autoimmune disorder. I sent pictures to my PCP and she forwarded the pictures to a dematologist. The dermatologist diagnosed them as folliculitis and prescribed an oral AND a topcial antibiotic. I thought, "So much for telemedicine" and never filled the prescriptions.
  5. For the concierge service, you won't be able to get coverage through Medicare Adavantage. You would have to discontinue your Medicare Advantage with Kaiser. I tried One Medical briefly - it wasn't bad - there were some impressive bells and whistles and they do things FAST. The labs are ready in a few minutes and you sit there and discuss them with your doctor as they come up on a great big touch screen and they move the data all around like the guys on TV do with election returns. I asked her for a letter to be excused from jury duty and they got it done the same day. Except for the bells and whistles, I didn't think the quality of care was any better than Kaiser. The thing that caused me to discontinue with them was a minor thing. I had gotten a drug prescribed by a doctor outside of Kaiser because my PC doc at Kaiser wouldn't prescribe it becasue it wasn't "medically necessary," and I was getting the 'scipt filled by a Canadian pharmacy for less than half of what it cost in the US. I asked the doc at One Medical to write a refill and she said she couldn't do it because she couldn't prescribe drugs in Canada, which is true. I kept telling them that the 'script just needed to be co-signed by a Canadian doc and that the Canadian pharmacy would take care of that, but they insisted that they couldn't do it. That would have doubled my out-of-pocket cost for that drug and I had found that I could go around my PC doc at Kaiser to get another doc at Kaiser to prescribe the drug I wanted. So that was the end of the One Medical experiment. It was fun though - I felt like I was George Jetson going to the doctor. I think telemedicine is a useful adjunct to conventional practice, but it isn't a replacement. I think a doctor has to look at you in the flesh and examine you for some things. Last summer, my PC doc at Kaiser dx'd my autoimmune condition from a phone call and labs. She thought that was fine. I wan't happy with it so I asked for an in-person appointment with a rheumatologist.
  6. gentle rehab exercises on a suspension trainer like a TRX are great for lower back discomfort
  7. I was incorrect-the adjectival form is Scots
  8. The Scot parliament the Scot tradition etc. anywhere that we would use scottish
  9. Actually, Scot is either adjective or noun.
  10. I think it is important to call somebody what they want they want to be called, rather than trotting out the Oxford English Dictionary to show them that they are wrong to want to be called that.
  11. I love big dicks - long thick heavy dicks, but I don't need 'em. I'm into a guy's body and ass as much as I'm into his dick. So, if he's average or less, it's OK with me.
  12. I used to make a vegan chile that had raw cashews. It didn't matter the crowd, it was always a hit. haven't made it in a long time.
  13. I always remember a guy I knew in high school. His family had just moved to the US from Scotland. I was asking him about scot/scottish/scotch and he said, in a rather arch tone, "I am a Scot."
  14. Just what I have found -- Whole Foods is more affordable than you would think. Another thing I have noticed is that the worst price inflation is in mass-market groceries. Prices in the upscale market were already high and haven't gone up so much. I'm mostly homebound at the moment because of my autoimmune problem, so I still get groceries delivered. Groceries from Whole Foods don't actually cost much more than groceries from Lucky. Groceries from Safeway are absurd because their online prices are higher than store prices and then they add on the service charges, etc.
  15. I get pasture-raised. Factory farming is an abomination.
  16. They most like to be referred to as Scot(s).
  17. I don't think I have ever heard a real person say "high fallutin" - just in movies and TV. I think I can remember one time hearing "putting on airs." It was said by the cleaning lady in an apartment building where I lived in Denver, a LOT of years ago. She grew up on a farm in Southern Indiana.
  18. I dstinctly remember one client or another relating on here that a provider, with whom they had a long-standing relationship, comped a session. In fact, I had a provider comp a session. So it does happen. I think it's a very rare occurrence - it has only happened to me once and the stories of a provider comping a session are few and far between. I wouldn't expect providers to be forthcoming with an answer to a question like this because it asks them to reveal confidential details of their business model.
  19. True, southern guys have a special something.
  20. Ditto. LA is just crawling with amazing guys. I haven’t spent much time in New York, but if the profiles on RM are any indication …
  21. It might have been so a LONG time ago e.g. when I was a kid, we had a family friend, a good-looking young hunk from a middle-class family, who graduated from college in the early 60s, who actually worked summers for a moving company. College boys now are not going to bust their asses doing hard physical work when their parents are supporting them and when they can spend a couple months coding an app that will make them more money than years of working for a moving company. It's a quaint fantasy tho.
  22. One would have thought, yes. But obviously with this crowd not. Another thing struck me is that, at events like that, they aren't there for the food, so the food doesn't run out. But this crowd just couldn't get enough to eat.
  23. Yes - one of those awkward situations where the business owner had to suck it up and say "the client is always right."
  24. Yep - just to shut the guy up, they sent additional food.
  25. A long time ago, I was a captain for a catering company. We were hired to cater an event at which Yoko was going to appear. The crowd turned out to be way larger than expected and the event sponsor hadn't ordered enough food. So the people were clamoring for food, the event sponsor was trying to get more food without paying any more money and they were all waiting to get a glimpse of Yoko. Yoko showed up, and everybody was angling to get a look at her. A guy in the crowd had a heart attack and none of the crowd would move so that we could get through to give the guy some help. They wouldn't even move when paramedics showed up with a gurney to transport the guy. I have always remembered that event as a lesson in crowd psychology.
