  1. Agree.
  2. I was in 6th grade. The principal came on the PA system to announce that the president had been shot, but the box in our classroom was out so we didnt hear it. We did hear a sudden commotion in the hall outside the classroom. A girl who had been excused a little early for a doctor appointment or something like that came rushing back in to say that the president had been shot. The teacher slapped her face for saying such a horrible thing. When we went back to school the next week, the teacher apologized to her profusely.
  3. In the months following, the Agency for Civil Defense went around and identified buildings that could serve as fallout shelters after a nuclear attack. They were marked with black-and-yellow signs that indicated the capacity of the shelter and were supposed to be stocked with enough food and water to last for two weeks after the attack. I haven't seen one of those shelter signs in awhile. Everybody talked about building fallout shelters in their backyards. We had one neighbor who actually did it.
  4. Yep - it was a 50s - 60s thing. Now and again, my father would load us all in the car to catch a movie at the drive-in. We absolutely loved it - a real treat. The last drive-in theater in the Bay area was in Union City and closed, I think, in the early 'oughts. I used to drive by it every morning on the way to work, telling myself that we needed to go the drive-in. There's a big shopping mall and a 25-plex there now.
  5. I have seen the photographs. They look pretty sexy in their business attire.
  6. Thanks for catching that. should I edit it, or leave the way it is?
  7. I was scared shitless. I couldn't understand why nobody else seemed to be.
  8. I remember watching the coverage of the integration of Little Rock Central High School on the evening news in 1957. It made absolutely no sense to me - I had about a million questions - who's fighting who - why are they fighting - what are the soldiers doing there, why don't the people want those kids going to school there, etc. etc. I was at my grandparents house, and when I got home, I asked my mother what it was all about. She explained it in a way that I could understand, but I was still dumbfounded
  9. Why wouldn't they? That's the way male teachers dressed for work - jacket and tie. In the classroom, they took their jackets off.
  10. I don't drink wine, so I don't pay much attenton to price, but, I believe, in a pushy wine-country restaurant, it is entirely possible to sink that kind of money into a single glass of wine.
  11. That's entertaining. Opening your home to guests requires you to surrender a lot of expectation and control - for example, by saying nothing to a guest who doesn't appreciate that the glass of wine she just wasted would have cost $50.00 in a restaurant .
  12. What does it matter? You didn't say "Oh, I'm sorry, we don't have any," a perfectly appropriate thing to do. You went and found some wine, so you obviously considered it your duty, as host, to provide your guests what they wanted. even though you hadn't anticipated it.
  13. I don’t entertain on a large scale but I try to anticipate what my guests need/want, so I certainly would have considered whether I should have some wine on hand. At the same time, Im not bothered if my hospitality isn’t perfect. I drink diet coke everywhere I go. Occasionally people don’t have it on hand. I’m fine with something else.
  14. Nice post - enjoyed it.
  15. I saw him about 5 years ago. If you do the math, his stated age just doesn't seem possible, so I was expecting a middle-age guy and that is just what he is. He is handsome and well-kept - slender and nicely-built, not a muscle man, a Top with a big dick. We had a great afternoon - chat, fuck, chat, fuck . . . He's charming and smart, value rates - it's hard to go wrong with him.
  16. Yep - as I remember, the paper bills - a lot - by the column inch.
  17. Publishing an obituary in a newspaper is very expensive, but there are lots of social media venues that could be used for a lot less money.
  18. value is in the eye of the beholder, so if you say no escort is worth $1k of your money, that is, effectively, true for you. Note of caution - a fixed attitude like that could cause you to miss the experience of a lifetime.
  19. I don't see anything weird - what a man!!
  20. It reminds me of the controversy over Mrs/Ms/Miss in the '70s. We made it through that. I m sure this will be similar.
  21. Glad you like him. He's even sort of nice - a periodontist in Beirut.
  22. He was lucky to have such a devoted friend. Very sorry for your loss.

What about vaping? Is that bad too? I haven't smoked pot at all since they came out with vaping pens and cartidges of extract.
  24. As a young man, I tended to get a bad shaving rash. A dermatologist prescribed a triamcinolone cream to control it, which it did. In retrospect, I think it was probably overkill, but obviously, I lived to tell about it.
  25. I don't think the 2006 study was double-blind. It's unfortunate you gave up searching before you found any references that called what you "know" into question. According to this meta-analysis, double-blind studies have shown a clear benefit from treatment with high-dose acyclovir. I haven't looked at the indications for acyclovir, but I don't imagine it is FDA approved for pytyriasis. I don't doubt you are familiar with off-label uses of approved drugs. Effectiveness of acyclovir in the treatment of pityriasis rosea. A systematic review and meta-analysis - PubMed PUBMED.NCBI.NLM.NIH.GOV Symptomatic treatment is a reasonable option for pityriasis rosea, and the addition of acyclovir is justified for the control of symptoms and pruritus.
