Also, unless the Trump NLRB has changed this, employers forbidding employees from discussing or exchanging salary information is an unfair labor practice. So any employee handbook or policy forbidding this is an attempt at intimidating employees into not exercising their rights.

I am very much over the idea that we must be "respectful" toward the recently deceased. Whether Bryant redeemed himself by his subsequent conduct is up to each individual to decide, but I still remember the hell he and his lawyers put her through only in the end, after settling a civil case (which if she was the lying slut his side portrayed her as before she withdrew her cooperation with the prosecution he would have pursued to trial), to admit that what he perceived as consensual she did not - something I was unaware of until his death.

Nadal is generous with removing his shirt and how long it takes to put on a dry one. He always wears plenty of brilliant greens, purples, pinks etc.

That's a telling observation. For all the commentary about the coronavirus, it has yet to be established that it is more dangerous than seasonal influenza. It may well prove to be, but we don't know yet.

an interesting sidebar to this discussion. There have been 8200 deaths so far this season in the US from the flu.

I think there are some sociological and cultural reasons, often related to the close knit nature of Asian communities and the low social status of sex work. (Asian here) Within the larger LGBT culture, the there has been a lack of demand for Asian performers in gay porn, and many people do not care for Asians (trust me, i have first hand experiences).

Although things are changing slowly, the gym culture (and the admiration of big muscled builds) was mostly a western phenomenon. Even in Japan, the most prolific gay porn producing country in east asia, you are more likely to see fit/atheletic guys and twinks before you see massive muscle. Koreans have embraced bodybuilding (lots of famous pro bodybuilders out there) but there is such a heavy social stigma on sex work and LGBT people that no one would jump that barrier (I know of one Korean muscle escort, EscortKor, but i havent seen his profile in a while). You are also less likely to see stright guys embracing gay for pay culture among Asians, where masculinity is prized.

Actually, and this doesn't apply to self-employed people, the lack of discussing incomes among employees is one the ways employers maintain control over their employees and keep them from receiving fair compensation. It's one of the ways they keep the wage gap going between men and women, whites and minorities, etc. Almost every unionized workforce knows the exact salary structure at work and employees regularly talk about wages. This provides them ammo in contract negotiations.

People should remove the stigma of discussing pay at least within a single company though I would say people in the same field but different companies should also talk about their pay and benefits.

Yet another reason for Canadian style health care, a coordinated national response. The two people identified, a couple, the husband is in a negative pressure hospital room, and the wife is at home. Health professionals are following up on any contacts the two had on the plane from Wuhan, China, to assess health status and any risk of further infections. None of the individuals involved will need to worry about a bill arriving for their care, and are fully cooperating with public health.

And no one is going to be wasting time and money ordering masks off of fucking Amazon. And masks, those are useful if you have the virus and don't want to spread it to others. They aren't prevention of getting it. To prevent getting it, was your hands a lot and don't touch your face.

Very peripherally: I have chronic pain anyway to begin with and at one point had acute mouth/tooth/gum pain to the point where eating made me wince. Briefly thought I might need another root canal but x-rays didn't look any different than before. Turned out to be a side effect of sinus inflammation and the only thing that reduced the pain (as opposed to making me loopy enough not to care for an hour or two) was massive amounts of ibuprofen (three 200 mg tablets at a time 4x a day - if I only took it three times a day, I would wake up in pain at 3am and not be able to go back to sleep). Acetaminophen with codeine did nothing to control the pain. Neither did vicodin.

Asking people how much they make is generally considered déclassé and rude. Other than that, it is really not anyone's business. I think Kevin shares the data but not the scale because there are data freaks out there and for some of us, the information is just interesting. Also, it is an example of how much attention to detail he gives to his business and by extension, to his clients.

    E. Alex Jung lives in New York City. Perhaps what you are detecting is his disdain for what he views as superficial criteria for attractiveness. He has been open about finding New York gay culture close-minded when it comes to the attractiveness of gay Asian Americans like him.

Wow, 1430 on Tuesday and my Amex card was just delivered by DHL courier (it's a premium one, so I guess that's part of what you're paying for). I had notified them in the small hours of Sunday morning.

I thought I'd lost a credit card a few months back, cancelled it and then found it. The card wasn't the hassle, it was going to all of my automatic payments and updating them all.

Lesson I learned, do all the automatic payments on one card that stays at home that isn't going to get lost, and use the main card as I normally would.

    What about your library card?

Several years ago, my spouse took a trip to NYC alone, and in the hotel room he decided to hide his passport while he was there rather than carry it around with him. But when it was time to leave a few days later, he could not remember where it was hidden. (It was the first serious sign we had that he was developing Alzheimer's.) He traveled to DC to visit his brother, who contacted the State Dept for him; they said he would have to apply for a new passport. So as soon as he got home, he assembled all the documents he needed and sent them off with the substantial fee. The new passport--which he didn't actually need any time in the immediate future--arrived about a week later. That same day, I was about to store his emptied suitcase in the garage, when I accidentally dropped it, and I heard a strange "clunk" inside, so I opened it, and there was the passport: he had hidden it in the lining of the suitcase. Your caveat about not replacing something until you are sure it is truly gone is justified.

With the thread title I assumed someone was going to be
complaining about how the world has gone to hell and life isn’t as good as it used to be. Happy that it was full of practical information that has caused me to consider what I would do in a similar circumstance. Many thanks!

Terrible that happened. This has never happened to me so I'm not really prepared either but I've often thought that saving copies, both on paper and pdf or image forms, that I can access quickly would mitigate the pain; that way I will at least know whom and where to notify the appropriate persons.

The point I am making is, that if your world collapses how prepared are you to pick up the pieces and continue. Some parts are relatively easy, some require you to be prepared.

Illegal how, under what law? I wasn't a criminal lawyer, but US law (other than taxation) is generally not extraterritorial. And whose definition of minor? The US doesn't have a completely uniform definition itself.

This would be up there with South Korean law against gambling, which applies to South Koreans anywhere in the world (even though there are gambling facilities in South Korea, which only foreigners can enter), and drug usage (at least as to marijuana), which also applies globally. It also suggests that it's legally impossible to reunite people who have married in a country with lower age requirements until both are no longer minors. It's okay in the US to marry someone who's a minor under some circumstances; does going abroad change this?

There are so many circumstances that this makes iffy that I find it difficult to believe this is actually the case.
