Are Silas and Drake twins or the same person?

The above article was written in 2012. The author actually felt that Rio was safe enough foor him to visit, but his concern was upcoming big events that he didn't feel Rio was prepared for:
"In the next few years, Rio de Janeiro will have the planet’s eyes affixed upon it.
It will host the Catholic World Youth Day in 2013, the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016."
We now have the privilege of looking back at these events and wondering why there was not a huge uptick in crime. At least not one that he used in his February 2023 update which would have proven him right.
This is another example of @pubic_assistance using references that don't hold up.
I don't disagree with him that Rio has a crime problem, but the article suggests staying off questionable streets and not carrying a camera. Duh! If I get robbed, it won't be because I went to a high crime area with a camera.

I poo poo'd many of my friend's accounts of being mugged as simply being in the wrong place with the wrong attire ( flashy watch/ jewelry ). But I was robbed in broad daylight in the most expensive neighborhood, with NO watch, no jewelry and dressed very casually. My greatest concern about being robbed by children ( they appeared to be about 14 years old ) is that children haven't quite developed that sense of self-preservation that prevents you from doing stupid things. Like shooting two tourists in broad day light.
The statistics of violent crime ARE down. That's what I said. but the culture of crime spilling out of the favellas has not stopped. I am simply sharing my own personal observations of how easy it is to be attacked no matter how much of an experienced traveler you may be.
By all means @Lucky give it a whirl and see if you join the statistics.
For my part, I am done with Rio.

    Yes
    That was my point.
The pretty people all seem to go somewhere else.
We end up suffering the wild animals until 3:00 AM

No you are faulting the people at the parade- the garbage. Sorry, my mistake.

Well, of course @pubic_assistancewould fault the parade. Very few people are good enough for him, despite the tens of thousands of ordinary gay people out having a great time.

Sadly all the attractive people seem to head elsewhere after the parade on Christopher Street.
We arrived home at 10:00pm last night and I have to say I've never seen to many ugly people in one place. The Christopher Street area ( West Village ) was populated by hundreds of the most hideous, obese Lesbians you could imagine. (It's as if they relish in making themselves ugly as possible). It's like a nightmare scene in a horror movie. I feel bad for my children that they have to witness this kind of stuff. It's hard to convince them this is a "Pride" march when you witness so much disrespectful, and frankly disgusting behavior on the streets of your neighborhood. ☹️

No. You do comprehend and you grasp the nuances but pretend not to in the interests of contrarianism, close kissing cousin of … well, you get the drift … just as I understand you at the required analytical threshold to handle, following a mere single-digit quantity of exchanges. Why would I bother to debate with the thing that would be a legend of divine omniscience in his own mind.

Well she would be tailoring, not panning, no?
That her expressivity skills would outpace those of a particular blog would not be such a stretch.

I’m the topic you are clearly pathologically obsessed with, so the suggestion that I could be accused of veering off topic is an asinine non-starter.

Yes very important point too! Based on the recent feeds, too many dancers these days don't even strip down to their underwear for their second dance on stage, whereas in the past the dancers would come out naked and hard for their second dance. Please instil rules so that dancers have to show D on stage.

Who cares about drinks and  a fancy bar. The Boyz should be the main attraction. Not drinks not fancy glasses. Did I read it wrong?

    Moderator's Note
Gentlemen, can we pare the discussion back to the topic of the thread, please. That is, the immigration clearance experience at Montreal. Other ports of entry are fair game as are brief comparisons of the experience entering other countries as a visitor. At a stretch, discussion and evidence of any effect negative experiences might have on Canadian visitation rates qualify. National and international tourism statistics and 'Why would you want to go to Canada anyway' do not.
