There was a guy I saw on & off from the early 90's until nearly 2009. His ad (print ad in the back of the bar rags or the 'alternative newspaper', usually) would disappear then reappear, with different names sometime but some of the same phrasing. The last I heard from him, he contacted me right after I was laid off in the 2009 recession and I was in no position, financially, to hire; once I was employed again I tried to contact him but looks like he's permanently retired.
