I liked Brian Thompson, the main guy in "Sailor in the Wild" - the box cover showed Bill Henson, but Brian was the sailor on leave having all the adventures & featured in most of the scenes. I read this in a seminar we took on customer service at a previous job - they warned that "no problem" was a turn-off to many people, in that it implied that doing your job might *be* a problem. I never really noticed it until then, but have noticed it a lot since, and wonder why employers don't coach their employees to avoid saying that. A simple "you're welcome" works better, and I often go with "Happy to help".

I haven't noticed it lately, but in the past it was common for theaters to NOT allow passes/promotions for first-run or special movies. The listings said "no passes will be accepted for this engagement". I'm not sure if they're still doing it as I haven't looked in the newspaper for movie listings in years; I check online. Anyway, this could be something like that.

As in so many situations, communication can fix this. If you realize you're going to be there early, text when you're 10 minutes away and say "I'm early, is that okay?" Unless you get a "sure, come on over" answer, go find a starbucks for a bit.

There's a graphic novel called "My Friend Dahmer", true story about a guy who grew up with Jeffrey Dahmer. He wasn't close friends with him, but hung out with him from time to time. It's been made into a movie that's showing now.

My uncle, a good friend of my Dad's that he introduced to my Mom's younger sister, and they ended up marrying. Thanks for the flashback! :-) It makes me think of a line in one of Gordon Merrick's books, something like "He'd walked through the locker room like this sometimes, not quite hard but definitely more than soft".
