  1. Usually the Lifetime Achievement Awards
  2. I agree with @marylander1940. His friend should consult someone with an extensive medical background.
  3. There is not much new that can be written about the play "Legends" with Carol and Mary Martin. In the first few cities on tour, Martin was slow remembering the dialogue - not a new problem, but especially difficult when the plot never went anywhere after the first scene. (I saw the play in Boston.) Carol enjoyed doing publicity. In Dallas, someone asked her why was not Mary Martin there too Carol, "She is back at the hotel learning her lines!"
  4. She was an unusual performer. Singing on her own, not the context of a musical or film, she was just ok
  5. I only saw Channing in one play that probably lost money, but like her or dislike her, Carol Channing was a major Broadway star. (Even if Ethel Merman could not remember her name .)
  6. I saw Ute in New York before when she was still singing songs associated with Dietrich and Piaf. Those songs were better known than her choices in Berlin.
  7. Just to be cear, it is not the home of the Berlin Philharmonic. I saw German singer Ute Lemper there.
  8. Sydney, Australia has been a major destination for gays as far back as I can remember. I visited Sydney for the first times in 1994 and 1995.
  9. Yes. I have not seen the musical yet, but a nude scene has been mentioned several time on reliable Broadway chat sites.
  10. to February 24. The musical received excellent reviews. Takes place in an all black prep school.
  11. Wonderful Also, very nice to read @Lookin's poem thanks @Charlie.
  12. Just to clear, did you make up that term yourself?
  13. Could you give more details, please. I can not give you a like because of the subject, please understand.
  14. I believe he is from India.
  15. You are a good man, @LoveNDino.
  16. Maybe he is better in person on Broadway, like Ethel Merman. I have seen Lane in several plays and musicals on stage and never been disappointed. Only saw Merman in person in the musical Gypsy -- again it was a wonderful experience.
  17. The subject does interest me, plus the play has a great of anticipation on Broadway chat sites.
  18. But, this is the fourth version of the same basic story, if you count the Janet Gaynor film. Sure significant changes were made in the three musical versions, but still!!
  19. Rock bands can sell out MSG. Very well-known classical singers. Many years ago: Sinatra; Garland. More recently: only Midler who sang and comedy. I really this is not a complete list.
  20. I wish she more time to explain her book. And there could been less concentration on Beñjamin Franklin and the Penn campus, an high tuition university.
  21. In my 20s, I would not be able to have have sex frequently with older men. Thanks, @marylander1940
  22. This was difficult to read because my best friend in high school also lost his wife at a young age. He raised his daughter and his special needs son on his own. But, his children had first cousins close by. That allowed him to explore his sexual feeling for men sooner than most. But, it was never easy, his older brother, a drunk driver, was killed driving in the wrong direction on a major highway. Two people were killed in the other car. His mother never recovered from that accident.
  23. Very Interesting, but also try Thomas Mann's The Magic Montain, which takes place in Switzerland before the First World War, a period of interest to you. Mann received a Noble Prize for Literature in 1929. Mann lived in the United States and Switzerland when Hitler came to power. I have just ordered "kingdoms of Faith" at your suggestion. Thank you so much. I am very much looking forward to reading it.
  24. Occasionally I do not even bother bringing my phone, especially at the local Starbucks which is very close to my apartment. Whoever calls can wait a hour or more for a return call.
  25. Patricia Highsmith from Strangers on a Train through her several Tom Ripley books. Thomas Mann, The Magic Mountain. Currently, a new biography of Rock Hudson.
