  1. What resignation? As to wasting energy on causes that are lost, that May differ for person to person and state to state. More important, one misfired politcal action may help with the next action. Experience is vital for politcal action.
  2. Excellent point. A cheerleader in the White House.
  3. I remember both "pandemics." Right now is far, far worse. Front page New York Times, May 10, 2020: A Bridge of Federal Relief May Crumble in Summer. As the nation confronts unemployment not seen since the Great Depression, Congress and the Trump Administration face a pivotal choice: Continue to store up business and workers, or bet that business re-openinigs will jump- start the U.S. economy. At least 20 million Americans are unemployed.
  4. @bigjoey, why are trying to white wash this pandemic? First, you wanted to eliminate New York City's Novel coronavirus counts. Now, it is comparable counts with 1957 and 1968. I know from watching you and my pal @Kenny that it is no use discussing this further.
  5. Well, I remember the 1968 "pandemic," I was in Vietnam. You are exaggerating what happened in 1957 and 1968, and can't back down now.
  6. What pandemic in 1968? The political conventions took place during the Summer of 1968, even though it ruptured the Dems in Chicago. The presidential election in 1968 went off as scheduled. President Johnson didn't try to cancel and there wasn't much need for voting by mail, except for the five hundred thousand military personnel in Vietnam. George Jessel was on a USO tour of Southeast Asia. Bob Hope as well, on his usual Christmas USO tour.
  7. With President Johnson? See Series 3
  8. My cat is upset too. She can't do her cat things around the house because I am home so much.
  9. Why were gas station Ernie and Henry Willson included as changed heros, rather than Cole Porter and Noel Coward?
  10. The 1950s Broadway musical (and television version) of "Peter Pan."
  11. Tame is a bit of an understatement. The George Cukor scenes were more interesting in Hepburn and Tracey biographies.
  12. Amazing photos in this thread. Thanks very much, @Whitman.
  13. Today is the 50th anniversary of the Kent State deaths. In response to President Nixon's incursion into Cambodia, widening the war in Vietnam. Cambodia was destroyed much more than Vietnam. I know.
  14. I enjoyed the film "Gosford Park" even if the murder was thrown into the plot without much thought. Hey, the film has Raymond Navarro and a cute actor (Ryan Phillippe).
  15. Judy Garland had a weekly television show that season 1963-1964 CBS, Sunday night, 9 to 10 PM
  16. Very few people had kind words for Willson. Ryan Murphy et al have played with other characters in "Hollywood," turning the owner of the gas station into a freaking hero (I haven't watched the last episode yet). Wish they had spent more time on the plot and not the scenery. Too be fair, it is enjoyable despite some major problems.
  17. You can't exclude New York City. If so, we might as well exclusive Massachusetts because of a conference in Boston early in 2020 with men and women from all over the world. Everyone I have talked to in Massachusetts mention that conference as the reason the numbers of novel coronavirus are so high there.
  18. Henry Willson as a good guy?
  19. Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen Group: Pearl Jam
  20. I started kindergartnen in Bedford, Massachusetts in1948. And I remember listening to Harry Truman's inauguration in January 1949. Ok, doctor. I definitely remember polo n Summer In Massachusetts. I had a mild case of the 1957 flu and earlier measles.
  21. Yes, I know John McCain's mother is still alive. I remember older actors (Anthony Quinn, Tony Randall) talkings about having children. Quinn had older children, Randall didn't.
  22. I remember School closing in the Northeast during the 1957 flu. As to multiple posts here, the same information is available in newspapers, especially in New York City where the pandemic has taken an enormous toll. Journalists are there every day as valuable witnesses. Learn from them. Thanks, @samhexum
  23. Yes, Anderson Cooper may be thinking of himself first. My brother was only 10 when are dad died at age 53. He has been successful, but has never gotten over the death.
