Although it's been a while, I'd say Justin Herringg.

Since I watched it all, I guess I'd have to call it ... watchable. That's as much praise as it gets from me.
Mostly it reminded me that there was once a really good show about gay men--their friends, their jobs, their sex lives--that (apparently) not enough folks found all that watchable.  Low ratings got it cancelled after just two seasons (which was way too soon).

Thought it was relatively enjoyable trash tv. Some good moments. Felt like a guilty pleasure. I did enjoy the love letter to NYC. Definitely a gay sex and the city. But at least, unlike the sex and the city reboot, this show didn't feel compelled to stuff each episode with every single woke crusade du jour. It just is what it is - a nice piece of fluff.

If you have HBOMAX I highly recommend “Years and Years”. Six part series following one family, 3 generations, from 2019 forward 15 years. The great Anna Reid is perfect as the family matriarch. The hunky Russell  Tovey plays the gay brother with a few steamy scenes. Emma Thompson is brilliant as a hybrid Trump-Marin Le Pen type who gets into 10 Downing Street. I really loved the concept, the individual characters stories, the subplots - just a brilliant program! 👍🏻

For those of you not afraid of subtitles, A Perfect Mother, on Netflix is an excellent mini series (4 episodes I believe). Franco German co-production, so compelling I watched it one sitting.

Watched it last night. It was so much more than I expected. Yes it’s slow. If that pace doesn’t suit you at a particular time, maybe it will at another. But it’s solidly written, terrifically acted. Any fan of Thompson will love it. Definitely recommend it.

I, too, prefer my Company to be set in 1970. I think that overarching idea that every show produced has to be "relevant" to our time is rather silly. There's no reason at all that we can't enjoy Company as written, in the time it's set. That said, I think there still are very relevant themes that DO remain for us to look at, so I still don't buy the need to update the piece so much.
I understand the "biological clock" idea that runs in this production, but that in itself is also a very different story than is in the text. There is never any sense that the original Bobby wants to be a father. I don't think he ever uses the word "family" or thinks about future generations. He's very much a "me generation" bachelor who can't even figure out if or why he needs an emotional connection to a woman beyond the fun of casual relationships. (Or that yeah, he'll settle down eventually like everyone else, "for company" as he suggests - but that time is always in the future, not something he has to commit to yet, no matter what everyone else is saying to him.) So in this version, the text being essentially the same, Bobbie has no way to outwardly express any interest in having kids/family, even though this is the supposed "clock is ticking" reason she feels the pressure to marry, It's a little like a regietheatre opera production where we're being asked to make a lot of leaps that just aren't there.

Just finished watching it. I almost gave  up at the beginning which is super slow, but I agree both Sisssy Spacek and JK are very compelling and by the end of episode 1, the series truly takes off and I loved it. It is such a rich premise that I can only hope they're able to sustain its integrity in the following seasons, if it gets renewed.

I suppose the idea of the remake was to introduce the young generation to this great classic. But at the end of the day, in my opinion, although there were a few decent, innovative moments here and there, I found the new version brought nothing new to the table. The 1961 version was revolutionary at the time, that's what gave it its power - no musical had ever dared to go as far as it went. It's probably impossible today to remake this film and make it half as exciting as the original. We're just too jaded as a culture to be truly moved by the story, the music, the dance, etc. They should have left it alone. Just an opinion.

No law suits please - Rock can build a tour and HBOSpecial around this, and get rich that way. Will Smith will apologize in private and in person. And probably make a huge charity donation at Rocks direction.
His speech did nothing to help. They should both drop it.
