I don’t follow news on this subject daily but I read enough from dependable news sources and read the comments of central bankers in Canada, the US and elsewhere to know that the pandemic induced inflation worldwide is coming down markedly over the last year and is now approaching pre pandemic levels. Approaching, not there yet but the markets are now starting to price in a soft landing. They are hitting record highs many days and the bond markets are recording lower yields that are now affecting longer term mortgages and other instruments that are influenced by them. Here in Canada we have already had two central bank rate reductions in the last two cycles and are looking for 2 more before the end of the year. The Fed is poised to reduce rates in September. If all goes according to plan and there is not an external shock, things look good on the inflation front , interest rates for borrowers and market returns for investors. What’s not to like?

A 10 dollar increase on $100 per month would be a 10 percent increase. A $100 increase would be 10 times that or 100 percent increase. Not 200 percent.

I would take exception to the statement that downtown Toronto is far cleaner than Montreal’s downtown. While Montreal’s Village covers a much larger area than Toronto’s Church Street area and has problem areas with street people, the rest of the city and most of it’s downtown is very clean and well maintained. The main downtown street is Sherbrooke which is similar to Bloor St in Toronto, except nicer with better architecture and better and more hotels. Yonge St and Ste Catherine are comparable and both have sections which are scruffy. The one thing that has marred the Village in the last year and a half is Catherine St being torn up and under construction. The last time I was in Toronto was last summer and Eglington was a mess with the same construction chaos.

I would take exception to the reference to the UK and RM. While I know Sleepyboy and Hunqz are used more by locals, I like the selection available for London in RM. I just wish I could get over there to sample it. 😞
