Back in the day, I was a big fan of Amazon, and I've shopped with them since 1996.

However, lately I've grown to despise Bezos, and I cringe every time I fall back in a moment of weakness to buying anything from that website.

I still love shopping on-line but I will go out of my way to buy directly from the manufacturers online stores when available, even if it costs more or takes longer.

    THIS...

    Couldn’t have stated it better...

What’s scary isn’t the sexual preferences... what’s scary is the broadening trickle-down effect of every other aspect of life that’s impacted by these “preferences”.....It makes me think of:

1). A qualified Asian man who was turned down for a job he was overqualified for, because he wasn’t a “fit”, among the majority white organization... “just a preference”

2.) The many black small businesses who can’t get start up funding because someone behind the scene as a bank, turned down their loan due to a “gut feeling”. “Just a preference”

3.) The white juror, who gave a guilty verdict to an innocent Hispanic man, with no conclusive evidence, but because of his hunch and “feelings”, about immigrants ... “just a preference”

Racial preference, bigotry, bias, and discrimination, are rarely compartmentalized.

And most white men, who say they don’t like Asians, blacks, or Hispanics sexually, typically live a Eurocentric life... their friends are white, the people they employ are white, their world is white. And it’s whitewashed with privilege and denial.

    Another revelation...

It’s obvious that this core group of friends of yours includes no people of color either.... which is obviously telling, since there’s the ongoing joke about one friend liking Asians “too much”, and the other friend who can’t get enough “BBC”.... all the while you’re saying “yuck”, to both of them... because you wouldn’t dare entertain a black guy or an asian guy...

The visual is so hilariously clear, yet typical......

While you think it's overreacting, look at why this thread was started. These kinds of "preferences" have real life implications.

And you think it's just "sexual preferences" but really those "preferences" help decide your actions in your daily life from who you make friends with, who you pick to be in your group for class projects, who you sit next to on public transit, employees you choose to hire, who you grant bank loans to, neighborhoods you want to live in, etc.

To further some of the elements of your comment there are also other subtle and not so subtle societal elemental factors at play in all of those studies.

WARNING: In order to illustrate the point i am trying to make, it is necssary to use some very offensive caricatures and language that i do not condone. So please if you might be offended don't read any further or think I am being insensitive. Again it is to make a critical point.

That is that in the majority of our past and current societal norms, "whiteness" is typically considered the "normal" state of being. So if you're "not white", then you don't need further descriptive characterizations to describe your state of being. And often other "non-white" standards of race and ethnicties are loaded with other negative implications and connotations so unfortunately in our society one only needs those otherwise very broad macro level descriptions to be used perjuratively.

    Let me try to explain the concept in a simple example;

A waiter at a restaurant is angry because he or she felt that they didn't receive a good tip. How might that waiter go about voicing and describing their displeasure to someone else?

Often, if the person was "White", the waiter might call them "a jerk", "a tight-wad", or "a dick" or "an asshole". They used descriptions to explain their actions and behaviors.

Or to explain the experience they might say they couldn't believe it because the person "looked like a Wall street banker type", (read rich) and they didn't tip well. Again they don't use the person's "race or ethnicity" to explain it. Or maybe the reason was because they were "teenagers/kids" and didn't know any better.

They might also say they didn't get a good tip because the patrons "were poor white trash". Here "Whiteness" needs the extra clarifier of "poor and trash" to help you understand why the tip was bad.

    Now contrast that to if the person who didn't tip well happened to be considered of an "other" category what the waiter might say;
    1) "I thought Asians were good at math"
    2) "Black people don't tip well"
    3) " He Jew'd me" out of the tip
    4) "What did you expect? They were Mexicans".

In those types of simplified expressions the group's race, ethnicity etc.. is just lumped together with no further descriptive qualifications necessary to help explain the situation. Whereas if the person who doesn't tip well is White, there often needs to be further clarifying statements or adjectives.

I am NOT attacking "white people" or "whiteness" at all!!!! But just adding further context of learned psychological biases that people don't often recognize which can influence and cloud some sociological studies.

Much peace love and health and happiness to everyone!

Many like a hot guy on their avatar because the pic expresses what they like in a guy. It's not necessarily a pic of them. I cannot use a pic of myself as my avatar since the rights to all photo likenesses have long since been sold to the modeling agency.

I often wonder what the results of this pandemic would have been like if we had competent leadership. Where our leaders worked together for one common goal. Where aide was not doled out based on a states ass kissing skills. Where a horrible situation wasn't manipulated for election results. Where all the people in our country mattered equally. where the economics and human life were an equal concern. Animals in national parks are thriving the air and water are at cleaner levels than they have been in years Mother Nature has been working hard to regain her composure. While our president plans to remove FDA restrictions to corporations to stimulate the economy, at what cost. There are no easy answers obviously, but it is nice to dream of a country where we were less divided. Perhaps a country where armed thugs and swastikas were not becoming normalized. Sigh... may we all get through all of this and reevaluate what is truly important in our lives.

When the history of this pandemic is written, NY’s mandating nursing homes must take infected people will be seen as one of the great blunders. Just comparing the nursing home death rate in NY with Florida and other states that had no such mandate, the real scope of the blunder can be seen.

Although I’ve been told I have a big dick (personally, I consider mine to be average),

I think it’s just pure cruelty to shame, laugh at, poke fun at, or be facetious to someone because they may have a smaller sized dick.

I’ve seen may comments in various forums, especially where self-proclaimed “size queens”, profess their loathing to guys with smaller appendages.

The real reason why I think it’s just purely cruel is that one can’t help what he was born with, and having witnessed the level of shame, low-self-esteem and confidence issues it gives guys, it’s extremely disturbing.

And witnessing how petty and immature guys are with “growers” should teach many guys a lesson in their shallow behavior.... that small flaccid dick you may see flopping around in a locker room that you may laugh or roll your eyes at, may grow into nice girthy inches of pleasure, which you may have missed out on.

The nitpicking over ones’ body parts with men gets extremely exhausting. From dick size, butt size, body weight, BMI, hair length, hair color, degree of overall hairiness, skin color, skin elasticity, race, muscularity, eye color, etc, no wonder so many gay men have issues with self image, and so many gay men who are actually pretty good looking don’t even realize it.

    Outstanding post!!!

Also very revealing. The fact that this good looking guy has been literally body shamed, for gaining a few pounds ultimately disgusts me.

What disgusts me more is that many of the people who are critical of his minimal weight gain, are probably the same hipocrites who cry “body fascism, ageism, and complain about the shallowness of men”, when they are on the receiving end of criticism.

Ironically, this man has probably been such a success, by providing massage services to a wide variety of clientele, even some who may be “chunky”, “out of shape”, or “not the prototype”, and for this, what he gets in return is a bunch of critiques from people who have the convenience of hiding their looks and bodies behind the anonymity of a user profile.

I hope this thread builds his client base significantly. I plan to book an appointment with him in the near future, just because.

A tough pill to swallow but I think the choice to not allow an escort to see what you look like is primarily insecurity-driven. And I am speaking in general terms, not in the context of receiving a request for a photo. And that’s a you problem, not an us problem. Yes, some escorts are rotten and make such requests for discriminatory purposes, but most of us really do not give a shit. We do not sit around and say “look at this client,” nor have I ever heard a colleague gripe about how a client looks. I feel it is a basic common courtesy. Here in Europe, 90% of my clients send photos along with their initial inquiry or already have profiles filled out with photos on Platforms like Hunqz. I do not ask, nor would I. However, Americans like to call insecurity “discretion,” and I get it but would any of you go meet escorts with no photos? Or even a casual hookup. Doubtful.

Hell, even when escorts had to physically walk the streets they at minimum knew what their clients looked like. I realize the culture here is different per engagement with escorts but if you knew that it wouldn’t be used against you in a discriminatory way, would you offer, voluntarily?

You've pretty much missed the point then, and perhaps intentionally so. There are multiple safer sex options out there, notwithstanding your apparent discomfort with one of the most effective ones to come along in decades. Using PrEP, by definition, means that the users are protecting themselves against HIV.

The discussion of heterosexual HIV infections was important because it undermined your oversimplification about the relationship between anal sex and HIV transmission. It also highlighted that you're applying an unfair judgmental standard to gay men in a very paternalistic way. That's the essence of respectability politics.

The purportedly "poignant peripheral point" of yours to which I was referring was your declaration that condomless sex with sex workers should only be between HIV-positive guys who, according to you, put their own immediate pleasure above everything else. Instead of "poignant," it was patronizing, sex-negative, stigmatizing, and destructive of respectful discourse and the sense of community that this site seeks to foster. We can do better than that.
