Km411 got a reaction from + ApexNomad in CBS will end 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert in 2026
Q1 2025 ratings were 2.4M. No denying a decline in ratings but “culturally irrelevant” is just silly.

Means nothing. Last week his average nightly viewership was over 3M. He’s very relevant, just not in your bubble.

Hear here! Exactly!
I’ve always been ready willing and able to find some dick, and never minded paying (a reasonable fee) for it in order to avoid all the bullshit generally related to cruising and picking up dates.
Just going straight to a professional or at least a hustler who knows and understands the terms and conditions of the situation skips all the wasted time and energy and ensures the desired outcome. No drama! no falling in love. no false impressions or misunderstandings. It’s a commercial arrangement and if you’re clear upfront about what it is then you can enjoy yourself without having to worry about whether you’re going to get robbed, blackmailed or stalked by someone with whom you just wanted to have a mutually beneficial quid-pro-quo client-provider relationship.
With an experienced professional you can get exactly what you’re looking for in an experience specifically tailored to meet your needs and desires. Concern over mutual satisfaction, fear of being judged for kinks or preferences and basic lack of skills, ability or the proper equipment can also be frustrating outcomes of hooking up with with randoms or through the apps.

< So I had my first real sexual experience at the age of 41 with an escort. >
Add 22 years to that number. I came out last year at 63 (was happily married, then widowed) and had my first gay sexual experience at that age (I'm not counting fumbling in backyard tents as a 12-year-old). I couldn't imagine starting my dating life as a 63-year-old gay virgin. So I hired an escort. He was brilliantly kind, gorgeous, generous and patient. I'm now hooking up regularly with a variety of guys through Grindr, Tinder, etc., and also have a couple FWB. I still see that first escort at least once a month and, occasionally, a new escort when traveling. Convenience, attractiveness, safety, lack of pressure and judgment -- those are among the other reasons. Also, having been with the same guy on nearly 40 "dates," we've developed a familiarity that is comforting to me. And we both know it's not going to become something more. It's worked out beautifully for me.

For me I like the no strings attachment aspect of hiring, also usually the hottest lads are usually escorts so there’s that too..but I enjoy being able to be very clear about my fantasy without feeling judged and someone doing their best to fulfill it..

1. Convenience- hiring allows me to select a guy who can host in a convenient location at a convenient time. No endless back and forth or messaging dozens of guys with no responses.
2. Safety- a guy with reviews on here and RM is more vetted than a stranger on an app.
3. Sexual health- providers are more likely to get tested often (and be on prep etc) as their careers depend on it. I also have less apprehension requiring condoms since I’m the one paying and thus calling the shots.
4. Activities- I can engage in whatever (consensual) activities I like without fear of judgement or worrying about pleasing my partner (though of course I still want him to have a good time). And their sexual prowess and experience allows them to better work with my relative inexperience.
5. Attractiveness- I can select a guy with any “look” I’m in the mood for and who would not be likely to give me time of day on an app.

Even if someone strongly dislikes Colbert’s work or disagrees with his politics, this goes beyond criticism of performance or content. It’s sustained, personalized, and dismissive. Hallmarks of a toxic rant.

Really classy if by classy you mean exponentially widening the gap between the haves and have-nots, robbing from the poor to give to the rich, and monetizing his position to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. What a rate of return on $400K per year!

😂 Colbert is one of the most influential political satirists of our time. But, he’s widely popular among the liberal and educated, so I can understand why you’d only see hateful rhetoric and a twisted mind.

Sense of entitlement? Must have missed it. Colbert won’t skip a beat; he’ll simply move to a new platform. But CBS will lose viewership and advertising dollars big time. Even if their motives were purely financial, their timing couldn’t have been worse.

Km411 reacted to pubic_assistance in Canada opens their LGBTQ+ Suicide Hotline to Americans
Yes. It does make sense, that a suicidal gay teen might feel MORE comfortable speaking to a gay person, but it's rather ridiculous to assume that straight-identifying people on a suicide hotline are not competent or empathetic enough to help a gay person too. It's not another species !!... We are all human.
I worked for years with a straight-identifying pyschotherapist after the death of my son. I didn't need an LGBT therapist, to understand my sorrow from that loss. I find it insulting to assume I would need special care because of my sexuality.

There have been many hetero pop-culture references to some guy dating the so and so twins as a measure of his popularity, virility, and/or appeal (remember Fonzie?). How is this different?

"It is nice to have a family to whom you can move close. I guess, like me, you never had a family of your own. Living an unattached life can be difficult. I have known you for fifty years and yet I do not know you at all. I guess I thought we had nothing in common but perhaps we actually do." "I just live down the street, why not come by after work for a pizza and beer before you leave town?"
If he says no thanks, then you can wish him well. But what if he says Yes?

I used to work at Calvin Klein. There were gorgeous models running around all the time. i wasnt a gorgeous model myself...but that didnt stop me from chatting them up..and it also didnt stop some of them from sleeping with me. Everyone assumes that gorgeous people ONLY sleep with other gorgeous people..Never hurts to try. The worst thing to happen? = They say "no".

Km411 reacted to pubic_assistance in seeking arrangements website?
That was my initial thought when I tried dating men. Eventually I learned that it's merely the frequency of dramatic communication that I avoided, not the drama itself.
Interesting to note you found a relationship that wasnt merely transactional, on that site. Its been mentioned here on C.o.M. several times and the discussions are always about the costs. Some have said that housing and a little cash in their pocket was adequate and others have chosen guys who demand luxury lifestyles including travel in exchange for their companionship. In the end, we all want SOMETHING from a relationship. Its at least quid-pro-quo if its not transactional. Unconditional love is something your grandma gave you. Everything else has terms.

Km411 reacted to + Jamie21 in Do you like to cuddle with an escort?
Yep, men always playing a role that they think they need to play, through having learned it, feeling conditioned by society / religion / family to play it. Hiring can give them an opportunity to be their real selves for a while and maybe start to learn that skill to take outside of the session.
I think of it as ‘You want to be your real self? Whatever that is? Ok let’s take our clothes off because they are masking you. Let’s drop our guards by communicating without words because they are loaded with judgment and meaning. Let’s use a primal human need like sex (and touch, and intimacy) to let go of all the labels and roles and judgments. How does that feel?
I’d say that’s what’s going on in 75% of my sessions. Clients come first for the massage, and the sex, but they come back for the opportunity to be intimate, vulnerable and to find themselves. Same with me, I started doing the work thinking it was about massage and sex. Now I see it as something else.

Km411 reacted to + ApexNomad in Do you like to cuddle with an escort?
Absolutely!
It’s not always about sex. Sometimes it’s just about being held. Letting your guard down. Letting someone see you when you’re not posturing or performing. That kind of intimacy is rare.
I think a lot of men crave that, whether they admit it or not. We’re not taught to ask for affection. We’re taught to muscle through pain. To suppress. To compartmentalize. Certainly my generation was. So when someone finally offers softness without judgment, it can feel like a kind of salvation.
