There are lies that will have no effect on your activity with him (does it really matter whether he graduated from Yale?) and lies that can have a serious impact on you (does he tell you that he has no health issues when he knows he has a venereal disease?). Pay attention to the ones that matter, and take the others with a grain of salt.

This is how it should work.

I think a masseur should post a baseline 60 min incall rate on his RentMasseur ad, perhaps his lowest rate should he offer multiple. A few only offer outcalls. In that case, his base hourly rate should include some nominal amount for travel, and he should make this clear in the ad copy.
Masseurs can specify in the ad that he offers different styles, hot stones, 4-hand, or whatever else and tell the client there that rates vary on factors like travel, modality, etc and prompt the client to ask more about his services for a quote. He need not be completely explicit about anything sexual to get the message across that “we need to talk about what you want” before quoting. The baseline rate signals to the client the minimum he should expect to be paying for an hour of the masseur’s time. That saves time on both sides.
That’s just me. Some clients are more comfortable asking. Many are put off by having to ask. I know I am put off when I see “Ask Me” in a masseur ad. I skip those guys entirely when I am hiring. I like someone straightforward, honest, and fair. “Ask Me” is the first clue that they aren’t what I am looking for. A baseline rate is essential for giving the client some sense of whether he should even bother spending his time engaging the masseur with questions.
Also, if you have “Ask Me” and no other rate info in your ad, you can’t complain about “time wasters” asking too many questions about your rates and your services. You either be upfront in your ad, or be prepared to patiently answer all of your prospective clients’ many questions in a prompt, professional manner. 

I think paying *and tipping* in advance may be muddying the waters here.  I always pay after, with the base rate already in an envelope.  As appropriate, I then add twenties from my wallet before handing it over.  It's then clear to the provider what's what.  In your case, I would remind the provider about my boundaries before each session, but not pay him until after, making clear the tip is for a job well done as requested.

Agreed. I really do not think it’s about getting a bigger tip.  Maybe the guy is just aroused . Or yes maybe he is acting out of habit and it’s his usual process. If you like the guy and feel comfortable, then go with the flow. Don’t overthink it!   If you truly have  strong boundaries for some reason ( like loyalty to a partner) then yes just be clear up front as you have been and hope he respects that.  He should!

This may just be a difference in massage culture but UK masseurs mostly put ask on their profile so its never bothered me really. 
They tend to have different price points for each massage type and give you the detail of what each massage entails so I guess it makes more sense to put ask as it does depend on what type you choose.

Said this before and I will say it again...if your listed price is "ask," I will be asking another masseur. Nothing screams "up charging" based on client preference over charging for the work you actually provide like not having a listed price for service. And yes I know I can search the reviews for clues but no thanks.

My intention was not to complain about him, but to share my experience with him. That’s the purpose of these blogs, right? You may agree or you may not. Jorge was very nice the whole time even if things got too hot and heavy. I was just not prepared for all that he was offering. And I own not speaking up while it was happening. That’s on me. Reading post on this site about getting ghosted, showing up for an appointment and provider is a no show.  I though in the many years I have been getting massages from the various websites, that "never happened to me" .  Well until LatinSergio, made an appointment day before made the 30 minute drive in the afternoon and nothing, no answers to my text,  no answer to the door.  Waited 15 minutes and gone.  He text me 40 minutes later with, I slept in sorry please try again, give you extra time blah blah blah.  He seemed sincere so made another appointment for a 2 day later.  Didn't leave till he answered my text an hour before appointment.  After 20 minutes he text "not today busy".  So proceed at you own risk.

Note to providers: If you keep your rates reasonable the tips and return visits will provide more income. Some of the best experiences I have had have been in the 150-180 range and continue to be. I stay away from guys who charge 250 and list no experience. If I wanted a hot guy to play with I would hire an escort. 

Maybe reply to the masseurs themselves that the pricing is higher than normal and that you will decline hiring him for someone else in a better price range.

The apparent movement to $250 for 60min for new and/or sparsely reviewed NYC providers is disturbing. How might WE discourage that movement, other than the conspicuous non-engagement of new and/or sparsely reviewed providers charging that rate?

I had a great massage from Andrew today and feel compelled to share. I had seen Andrew several years ago and had always meant to go back.
