So you ask who they are before you tip? At a bar I just hand them the money, tip included, and walk away. I have heard of some owners who take their tips and split them between the other employees. Nice idea. Back to the original question: If you want "extras" tipping is recommended. A friend of mine did massage from his home and if people wanted extras he expected extra. If they didn't give extra the next visit they wouldn't get extra. PS If they are really into you and want to give the extras away, expecting nothing, most likely they will tell you you can come back at a lesser fee.

This is a case for their court system. Hopefully they have compassionate liberal judges. Sorry, couldn't resist.

What if the restaurant owner is your server? What if the bartender at a bar is actually the owner? Do you ask who they are before you tip?

Just for the sake of argument why should I tip a person who can't go out and start their own business in their home? In a salon they have the massage table furnished, fresh linens furnished, clients furnished, room furnished. A lot of money saved there. Perhaps the salon should charge more if the income isn't enough for the masseur. Not my responsibility!!
