Some clients don't become regulars because they aren't allowed back due to abusive behavior. It's the provider's call as to who becomes a regular too. Sometimes the money just isn't worth the aggravation. They aren't allowed in the 20% of customers that make up the 80% of revenue.

But that's the problem. Many customers think because they are paying they need not respect the other person. Mutual respect is not always the case. Sometimes "regulars" try to use their power of % of revenue to control the provider. Gandhi's quote sounds like servitude.

I am sorry but that just invites abuse. Each side of the relationship needs to show respect. The customer is also lucky the business exists to serve his needs.

A few mornings I have used the heat. I set the AC or heat at 73F to sleep.

So you ask who they are before you tip? At a bar I just hand them the money, tip included, and walk away. I have heard of some owners who take their tips and split them between the other employees. Nice idea. Back to the original question: If you want "extras" tipping is recommended. A friend of mine did massage from his home and if people wanted extras he expected extra. If they didn't give extra the next visit they wouldn't get extra. PS If they are really into you and want to give the extras away, expecting nothing, most likely they will tell you you can come back at a lesser fee.

This is a case for their court system. Hopefully they have compassionate liberal judges. Sorry, couldn't resist.

What if the restaurant owner is your server? What if the bartender at a bar is actually the owner? Do you ask who they are before you tip?
