  1. With my library card I was able to stream Brazilian 2015 film "Seashore" on Kanopy.com

Many of you might compare it to watching paint dry.  I get it.  The film is quiet and the pace is very slow.

But for me Seashore weaves a poignant, coming of age story, with clever direction and spare dialogue, how I like some films.  I will watch it again.

OK folks.  Let's get back on topic:  LGBT people feeling compelled to move to a different state.

    Thank you!

I understand places like Oklahoma City, Des Moines and Dallas have strong gay communities.  But I would feel too vulnerable living under those legal jurisdictions.

I appreciate the protections that exist in California. But to get away from the expense and crowds of California,

states such as Minnesota and Illinois sound reasonable.

A friend recently moved to the Saugutuk-Douglas gay friendly area of Michigan.  That is as far east as I would consider.

Cute guy, a bit boring, brags about how easy it was to hook up with a well-endowed stranger sitting next to him...

    Thank you for sharing.

I used to take my dogs to the gay beach at San Onofre.  So beautiful there and they loved it.

Anyone been to this video location?  I did some internet searching and found likely possibilities.

If anyone has actually visited this very spot where this vlog was recorded, would you please share the name of the beach?

As far as how easy to get with a stranger, his dogs and his personality helped.  I guess he could go to the next level and teach the pooches to sit up and beg. 😆

  4. I leapt out of bed this morning at the sound raindrops.  "Hilary has arrived!", I thought.

By the time windows were all closed the rain had stopped here along the coast.

Checking the weather news now, looks as though the center of Hilary has not yet arrived in Cali.

Many inland areas have been receiving precip. but not so much here.

I cleaned out my rain gutters yesterday to accommodate heavy rain, whenever it arrives.

Best scenario for me would be for the rain to end before my Monday morning commute.

For now I keep checking accuweather, their website and on TV (I like Michelle McCloud ❤)

  5. I received your Website notice my email is blocked because it had rejected too many of your messages.  What does that mean?

I receive CompanyofMen emails nearly every day.

Before I change emails, I'd like to understand the meaning of the following

Thanks for your comment. I’ve had it in my list for many years thinking I might like it as much as I did The Persian Boy, by Mary Renault, due to the ancient historical context and subject matters. I might still read it one day, just placing it further down my already long list.

I had similar thoughts, how it would compare.

Renault wrote a number of books.  I'd recommend her The Last of the Wine instead of The Song of Achilles.

  7. I wish Stephen Fry had a bigger part.  The film would have been more balanced if the Royal side was developed.  Fry and Nicholas Galatzine had one scene together.

I like Galitzine.  I'd like to see him in more content.  He was great in Handsome Devil and Cinderella.

IMO RW&RB was like a Hallmark movie with a bigger budget.  That's OK.   3 of 5 stars.

  8. Soap operas are way more expensive to produce than talk shows.  Y & R still pulls in enough viewers.

Remember As the World Turns?   Luke and Noah were the first gay romance on a soap.  Was a huge deal.

Van Hansis went on to appear in Eastsiders.  Loved him in that.

A lot of favorite daytime drama actors have appeared on Hallmark channel movies.

IMO there are too many talk shows.  Soap operas employed a lot of actors and writers.  I would be happy to see a resurgence of the genre.

Parry Shen played a gay lab tech on General Hospital.  💓

  9. Personally I prefer not working with big banks.

I fired Wells Fargo (I like saying that) years ago around the times they were caught with pants down, and have been tempted to give Chase the heave ho.

    My trust level is low.

That said, I am already wondering where CD rates will be a year from now.

Perhaps now is a good time to look at bonds, suggested by one investment news show on cable TV.

  10. I skimmed an article this week that Chase has lost $75 billion deposits that flowed to banks offering better interest rates such as CD rates.

I became a Chase customer back when they gobbled up the failed Washington Mutual.

However I moved most of my cash to another institution that offered a 5% interest CD, earlier this year.  I am not surprised to read others are doing the same.

I expect Chase can weather the storm.

A guy from the local branch called to invite me I to some kind of VIP relationship but I am not looking for that right now.

I'd rather not hear from them.
