I've seen that happen. Granddad and an uncle had been working on something. Just when granddad wondered aloud "did we remember to turn the fence back on?" our dog hiked his leg on it. Never heard a sound quite like it come out of that dog before or since.

For the record, mgt. deleted nothing. Some websites do not support remote linking to their content. -
And that's exactly the way I've always wanted him.

Where can I meet this guy Art and how much does he charge?

It really is fun when it's right outside your front door, isn't it? You can't ignore it. You can't not get out in it. You need special noise cancelling headphones to ignore it. And sometimes one of those really hot guys in a speedo suffers a little heatstroke and you can offer an air conditioned spot to rest for a moment, nice guy that you are. Not that I've done that.
-
But if I stay home in the air conditioned comfort of my plush-but-not-overly-ostentatious living room (perhaps cuddling with a companion) someone always posts the best eye candy on the internet.

I've been allergic to crowds for many years too. I always attended the Pride events when I lived in Chicago because they were basically outside my front door but these days I'd have to commute to get to one. I could either drive down to WeHo (about an hour) and then be stuck finding parking in that throng, or I can ride Metro. Of course I have to drive 30 minutes to the outermost park & ride station to get ON Metro. That's too much work for something I'll probably not enjoy all that much.

Oh, great, give me a reason to keep Netflix. I don't watch any of those shows but I *could*. <shrug>
-
Probably not missing a lot. Just sometimes a movie will be on Netflix that isn't on ROKU or Hulu (and vice-versa). I keep Netflix mostly out of inertia. I should probably stop it. But that takes effort and I'm low on effort these days.

Of all the months to be short on cashflow.

And I'd pitch to Buster Posey any time. That man has a great ass!

Do national parks need more wifi & cell connectivity? Really? :-(
+ deej replied to geminibear's topic in The Lounge
I did not say it was easy. It isn't. I make the choice to do so. There are millions of places on earth to remain connected and few where people can get away from it. If you want to stay connected, there are places to do it without defiling national treasures.- 63 replies

Nobody is saying that everyone must completely disconnect at will. What everyone is saying is that if you are SO DAMN IMPORTANT that you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT DISCONNECT then it's incumbent on you to stay in areas where you can connect. That is completely do-able without doing damage to national treasures. I frequently go off-grid, but there are times when it would be ill-advised so I avoid those times. Why shouldn't everyone take that level of personal responsibility?- 63 replies

This is an actual thing. Chefs always undercook eggs (and steaks!) knowing they'll continue to cook on the way to the table.

Denver is SUCH pretty city, and I think I have a new reason to visit. And maybe I could stop in and visit my sister.

Gas Prices in Your area, Let's hear about it.
+ deej replied to Talvin DeMachio's topic in The Lounge
Costco in SoCal today was $2.65. Here in SoCal we're still paying a premium because of the special "California Blend" and the loss of the refinery that makes much of it. (And, I suspect, some price gouging.) -
Want. (did I say that out loud?)

50" Samsung plasma tv. (It's all that wall would take.) FWIW, a number of the amateur porn sites like CF and Helix have channels on Roku. Subscribers only. Just in case you needed another reason. I catch myself sometimes forgetting to close the drapes. Oops.
-
As Kevin says, AMC isn't in the Hulu mix. But the broadcast networks are next day. If you like "How to Get Away with Murder" you can keep up as the season goes along.
-
If you hate commercials that much you'll probably enjoy Hulu's new premium subscription which is commercial free. I haven't ponied up for it so I can't vouch for it. I use the commercial breaks for trips to the fridge or the bathroom.

I can definitely recommend Roku. I've been on a really strange work schedule for the last couple of years so I'm in bed by the time prime time rolls around. The combination of Hulu and Netflix on one box pretty much obviates the need for a DVR. (And the same would apply to Apple TV or Amazon Fire stick.)

This is late, but that's not the forum software. It's your browser. The HTML spec says repeated white space should be compressed. There are special HTML codes you can use to force spaces but IMO it isn't worth it.

My parents had this on a 78 rpm record when I was a kid, I'm pretty sure. I was learning to play clarinet and one of the required etudes was "Humoresque". Dad started snickering and when I asked him why he trotted out this oldie.

Nailed it. So to speak.
